  1. Ashley, My husband brushes his teeth extremely well after he eats gluten, and usually rinses a little bit, too. I am one of the super sensitive people who get sick off "one crumb." I have not eaten anything that has gluten in its ingredients in over 2 years (I get so sick, that I don't risk it. I go hungry insted of eat, if I haven't planned ahead, its...
  2. WOW-----this is a GREAT STORY! I HAVE GOOSEBUMPS. WOW. SO HAPPY TO SEE A REAL REPORT---AND GREAT TO SEE DR. GREEN
  3. My responses come on sooner, and harder, and are much worse, the longer I go (because, I believe, I go longer and longer in between glutenings, and really heal and feel great). Before dx, I was horribly sick all the time. I agree with GFPs post about it being complex because of this.
  4. Yep.
  5. Oh, Alice!! How frustrating for you! I'm sorry your dr. didn't do the full panel. I know you were counting on some answers. Well, honestly, I would definitely try to get in with Dr. Green (or his associates...I've heard his whole office is Celiac focused). I think most of us, if given the chance, would try to get in with him or a "real" specialist!...
  6. Stef, I just saw this on celiac.com and thought it might be of interest to you: https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodid=1370
  7. It was more of the combination....drinking, pooping, sex .....considering it was ALL we bought (around 10 pm on a Friday night). It looked rather "amusing"
  8. I add my vote to Tinkyada. I didn't discover it until months into my gluten free diet....man, I wish I knew about it earlier! I tried them ALL (all other kinds)...and threw them all out. Love this one. They sell spaghetti, fettucine, elbows, penne, spirals, shells, large shells (for stuffing), lasagna, (etc., etc.). However, sometimes stores only carry...
  9. Mellie, I just wanted to recommend a great book that helps explain potential links between Celiac and "other stuff". It is Dr. Peter Green's (a leading Celiac researcher and physican at Columbia University) "Celiac Disease: A Hidden Epidemic" ... it was really helpful for me to put a lot of the pieces together. You can get it off amazon and some people...
  10. thanks for the good laugh!
  11. hahahaha, Patti, that made me laugh. One of my personal favorites was buying beer (for hubby), Imodium in large quantities (for me), and um, "protection" (for both of us, so yall figure that one out.) I stood in line with a straight face and was beet red.
  12. tsk tsk tsk just because you aren't having an overt reaction doesn't mean that you aren't setting off an autoimmune response, with gluten attacking your intestines....
  13. Kathy Ann, What a wonderfully written sentiment! I think you summed up the needs of newbies (and, not so newbies) quite wonderfully. Just think, one day you won't be a newbie and will passing along wonderful advice, tips, and knowledge. Its definitely one of those "pay it forward" type of things .... Laura
  14. Congratulations! How exciting for you! I've never been pregnant, so I don't have any advice, but just wanted to extend my congratulations! I think everyone's symptoms vary---some feel great, some feel crappy, and some are in between. Sounds like you are in between The other thing is, ---anything strange can be normal during pregnancy

  16. Donna (or anyone who is interested): a great list (and its very shocking!)- Open Original Shared Link
  17. Shalia, I'm limited, mostly due to corn. Corn is in everything, and is not required to be listed. So its very hard. Absolutely no processed foods. Plain meats, with sea salt, lemon/lime juice for seasoning. Some veggies, some fruits. And that is it. (This is all a recent thing for me...Celiac dx 8/04, was fine, then this spring, got sick again......
  18. Patti, the last thing I think of when I think of you is ancient Oh-my little "sorbet" recipe is under the OMG thread...posted yesterday. I made a double batch last night, I'm so addicted. So I definitely fell asleep in the middle of ER! Robbin, I hope you are feeling better!
  19. I don't know much about beer. I know beer (in general) is not safe for Celiacs, but I don't know if its the hops or what the process/ingredients there is that make it not safe. I'm sure a beer lover on here will know. Licorice-Like with most processed foods, it depends on the brand. Post ingredients and we'll help out. I am not a big licorice eater...
