ARCHIVED Just Because I Have It Do They?
happygirl replied to mommaofthree's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
It will depend on the test (there are multiple IgA based tests) and the lab that ran them, to correctly interpret them. Without the reference range and name of test, it is too hard to guess. -

That is awesome that this company "gets it" and is so forthright about its testing procedures! Definitely a company I will support. Thank you for taking the time to find this information out and share it with the rest of us. -
ARCHIVED Stool Question For My Son?
happygirl replied to teacherwheart's topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
If he was blood/biopsy diagnosed with Celiac, it may be worth it to do follow up blood testing to ensure his Celiac panel is nearing 'normal' range or is in normal range. Also, look into the recommended follow up testing for Celiac (vitamin, mineral deficiencies, etc.) -

Welcome to the board! There are a few possibilities: he won't ever have it, he currently has is (and you don't know it), or he doesn't have it now but could - either tomorrow, or in a year, or 5 years, or 50 years. Some families have "one" Celiac, and others have "lots" with Celiac. Overall, about 1 in 133 Americans have Celiac Disease. However... -

Pupper is a whopping 33 lbs, is about 4.5 months old, and still sweet as can be. Finally learned not to be terrified of the stairs. Still likes flip flops, expensive boots, and high heels (to chew, not to wear.) Loves peanut butter, cream cheese, and thinks that her treat of getting up on the bed (for naps) is wonderful. However, she is a bit (understatement... -
The current answer is that the vast majority of the medical community and research sees them as two separate conditions. However, research is very young with Celiac, and even younger in regards to NCGS. We will have to see where the research leads us. I would be willing to bet that the answer isn't clear cut, and could involve all of the theories (and...

ARCHIVED I Hope I Have Celiac Disease
happygirl replied to whistle's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I hope that you are able to find some answers to your health concerns. If you are planning to be tested, you must continue to eat a regular gluten containing diet until all testing is completed. When you go to your doctor, ask to have the Celiac blood panel run, which includes the following five tests: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG ... -

There are a few scenarios: a moderator hasn't gotten it yet and nothing is wrong with it (we are slow sometimes, because of the volume of this board), it is spam, or it is not a topic that is appropriate for the board. Uninteresting, but relevant (i.e., related to Celiac/gluten/etc), will still get pinned. Uninteresting is subjective, after all If...

ARCHIVED How Would You Want To Be Cared For?
happygirl replied to Country Girl's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Learning about the disease, learning how to make foods that he likes, never making it feel like its an imposition, and making it a part of their normal routine. One of the predictors of how well someone adjusts and maintains the gluten free diet is the support of those around them. Fully understand how to 1. read labels and make smart decisions about ingredients... -
ARCHIVED Can You Spare Another Conversion Question . . .

I would use a mix of flours (rather than a single gluten-free flour) and if the mix doesn't include it, add a bit of xanthan gum. -

ARCHIVED Rules To Live By So You Can Avoid Getting Glutened
happygirl replied to Lisa16's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I'm sure others would appreciate the warning on which type of seasoning this was, so that we can be cognizant of this concern. It doesn't have to say wheat to have gluten in it. ------------ While the labeling laws are NOT perfect, they are certainly an improvement over what was before (nothing regarding wheat). I'll still take this over the past... -
For those interested in the flour I use: Open Original Shared Link For the ingredients: Open Original Shared Link Other info on the website includes how to order online, where to buy in person, and wholesale information. I use this for all my recipes - no more "multiple flours."

My guess is that since there is already a full section for other food intolerances and concerns related to that, and considering that this board already has a large amount of sections, Scott may not be willing to do this. In addition, this is a forum for those dealing with the gluten free diet, and a separate section for each individual topic related...
