  1. I go away for a bit and I can't keep up with everything now that I'm back. Quick drive by.... Rach-got your email. so happy you are making progress! K-so happy YOU are now making progress.
  2. To clarify, the only reason that I asked Brian this was because 1. I couldn't recall his particular details (mentioned in the post from 11 months ago) and 2. I wanted to respond to him with accurate information. There are a lot of board members on this site and it can be hard to remember all the details of each and every person. I have been in contact...
  3. You have a positive EMA, tTG, and AGA (not sure if its IgA or IgG). Thats pretty darn positive to me. I don't believe it cross reacts with other things, especially not all three. The EMA and tTG are both good tests, so the fact that they correlate, to me, supports it even more. Is that the wording from the person who did the procedure or is that from...
  4. If you had positive bloodwork and a positive biopsy, then you have Celiac. The biopsy is specific for Celiac. Many Celiacs are "silent Celiacs"---in fact, many experts think that what "we" consider "classic Celiac" (many of the symptoms you describe) are actually in the minority. Dr. Peter Green (www.celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu) says "The vast...
  5. No positive biopsy. My GI told me to go gluten free before my biopsy. I was on the diet for 4-5 weeks before my biopsy and was already feeling better. And he only took one biopsy.
  6. I was dx'ed Celiac/gluten intolerant in 2004...unsure of which one I am.
  7. I found my Christmas tree ornament from my parents, for last year....a little angel that said Miracles Happen. This time last year I had no diagnosis, I hadn't started seeing my current doctor quite yet, and was very ill with very little "meat on my bones" (as this group knows) Flash forward to Christmas this year....I have diagnose(s), but the better...
  8. Are the threads on the board in another location? They may have been moved.
  9. Brian, Did you have an endoscopy and repeat endoscopy that showed flattened villi?
  10. Happy Birthday SusieQ!!!! Love you!
  11. Yes, technically, they are different. However, treatment is the same for them all: a gluten free diet. There are many on this board who don't have official Celiac diagnoses. Its great that your doctor said that since removing gluten from his diet helps, he should stick with it. I would call what he has gluten intolerance. It may be Celiac, but seriously...
  12. Keep in mind that you won't necessarily have "gluten withdrawal." I didn't. Gluten itself can be causing all these problems, if gluten is the culprit. How were you diagnosed/were you diagnosed? It may be worth it to find a doctor as you may have other issues. Gluten symptoms can mimick (and be mimicked) by many other disorders.
  13. Were you ever tested for the eosinophillic disorders? Many with Eos. related disorders have food allergies/issues and go on TPN. www.apfed.org is the best resource out there. Even if you don't have eos., it deals with people who can't eat, so maybe you can find some help/comfort/resources from them. Best of luck, Brian.
  14. Pick up Dr. Green's book....its awesome!!!!
  15. I like Bob's Red Mill pancake mix with buttermilk in it
  16. Is she eating out at all? Are her medications/vitamins gluten free? Are you careful of cross contamination in your home (separate butters, peanut butters, etc for her)? Dr. Green, one of the leading experts on Celiac, says that: www.celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu 7. Monitor serum antibody levels Patients are advised to have follow-up antibody...
  17. If you were diagnosed by biopsy, then you have Celiac. There can be a range of presentations...from a silent Celiac (no symptoms) to someone who is debilitated by symptoms. Most people fall somewhere in the middle, but with varying symptoms. There isn't "one" type of Celiac. Here are some good sites for reading: www.celiac.com Open Original Shared...
  18. Not sure if they ship to you, but check out a brand of bread products called glutenfree4me. They are great!
  19. And to keep in mind, there are alcohols that never start from wheat/barley/malt, and are safe from the beginning.
  20. Modified food starch: If it doesn't list wheat, then its okay. Wheat is required to be listed if it is the source of any product. So yes, it is safe unless stated.
  21. Is she eating out? How long would you say she's been truly gluten free?
  22. Jenny, unfortunately there are more than a handful of board members who have/had numerous, numerous other intolerances....it really is tough. I was at 8-10 foods last year. Have you been evaluated for other medical conditions, like Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth, or other Celiac-related conditions? I just wouldn't want something else to be going...
  23. Any gluten free flours should be fine.
  24. Wanted to welcome you to the board!! Hope that you make yourself at home here and find ideas to help make gluten free living a bit easier!
  25. Jenny, are you still following all the things listed in your signature? No gluten, soy, casein, legumes, grains (corn, potato, rice, etc)? I know that makes things difficult....I've been there. Just wanted to let you know I'm thinking of you.
