ARCHIVED Adding A Picture To My Posts
happygirl replied to cruelshoes's topic in Board/Forum Technical Help
To my knowledge, its not possible. Haven't seen it successfully done on here...don't think the board allows us to do that. I'm sure someone will pop in if that is not the case. -
ARCHIVED Oxalates And Nightshades
happygirl replied to jerseyangel's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
All I have to add is that the above quote made me laugh out loud. I don't have but so much to add, but I was on a low "everything" diet last year....meat/chicken, a few veggies, a few fruits, a bit of seafood, and nothing else (no dairy, nightshades, soy, corn, rice, grains of any kind, oil, seasoning, spices....etc) I hope that changes in diet help... -
ARCHIVED Newbie With A Craving.......reese's Peanut Butter Cup
happygirl replied to Motorboater's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Those ingredients look fine to me...I eat Reese's cups all the time. You got a representative who was poorly trained, and didn't know what the correct answer was. Wheat is required to be listed by law, and Hershey's (I believe) is good about not hiding any gluten. -
ARCHIVED The View..jenny Mc Carthy Again..autism Connection
happygirl replied to Judyin Philly's topic in Publications & Publicity
Judy, thanks for sharing about the View. Numerous people have mentioned to me that they heard her talk on Oprah about it (last week?) so its great people are listening. -
The sad thing is that this doesn't surprise me anymore. The dr. at NIH told me they don't like to diagnose people with it because the diet is "too hard."

ARCHIVED Enterolab Results
happygirl replied to jitters's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you are IgA deficient, it doesnt matter if you are eating gluten or not...you have a higher chance of NOT testing positive. I am IgA deficient also. Enterolab tests for: Fecal Antigliadin IgA Fecal Antitissue Transglutaminase IgA Taken from Columbia University's Celiac page:Open Original Shared Link Selective IgA deficiency (SIgA deficiency... -

ARCHIVED Why Is The Commercial gluten-free Food And Drug Listing So Expensive?
happygirl replied to a topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree---learning to read labels is the most effective way to make educated decisions. Using the lists as a backup is helpful, but you can't rely on lists all the time because things can change. Do you need help with labels? -
ARCHIVED Enterolab Testing - I Need References To Show Dh!
happygirl replied to mommyagain's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I would not say they are more accurate....they are assessing different conditions. I would do the Celiac panel on your son. -
ARCHIVED Gene Questions?
happygirl replied to momof2sn's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
All Celiac experts recommend that ALL first degree relatives are tested, REGARDLESS of symptoms. Lack of symptoms does not mean "no" Celiac. Dr. Peter Green says that most Celiacs are actually silent Celiacs. -
ARCHIVED Yo Plus
happygirl replied to skinnyminny's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yoplait (because it is a part of General Mills) is on the list of companies that will clearly list any gluten and won't hide it in any ingredients. If it doesn't clearly list wheat, rye, barley, malt, or oats, then it is not hidden in anything. Also, all companies are required to list wheat in any source, so if it were in annatto (which I think would... -

happygirl replied to cyberpriya's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips

ARCHIVED Happy Birthday, Andreab!
happygirl replied to jerseyangel's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU, ANDREA!!!!!! -
You don't need symptoms to have Celiac. Symptoms aren't what Celiac is. Celiac is defined by the damage to the villi by the presence of gluten. Open Original Shared Link is a good site with many resources. It is one of the best Celiac practices in the country. "Characteristics of celiac disease It is unclear whether celiac disease is an autoimmune...

ARCHIVED An Update On Me.....
happygirl replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
UM: I think what K is saying is that there is no cell change, AND cell change would indicate type 2. I think she put in the modifier because most of us wouldn't know what no cell change really meant. Karen, I am glad to hear your update. I am sorry that you are going through so much. And like MG said, we definitely miss you on here. I sincerely hope... -
ARCHIVED Capri Sun
happygirl replied to gdobson's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Open Original Shared Link Capri Sun is a member of the Kraft family. They will all clearly list any ingredients. The link I posted has links to click on for each flavor, and lists their ingredients. You'll be able to make your decision that way! (I looked at a few, and they looked fine to me, but I didn't check each and every flavor) -
which test did you have for bacterial overgrowth and which antibiotic are you on? have you re-tested to see if you are now negative?

ARCHIVED I Feel Like I've Been Run Over By A Tanker Truck!
happygirl replied to glutenfreechick's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If you are having the biopsy, do not go gluten free til AFTER the biopsy. Going gluten free before makes the biopsy near pointless, as its level of accuracy diminishes. Leading Celiac experts have found that even 1 week of the gluten-free diet can contribute to significant changes in the villi. (The villi are damaged by eating gluten. The biopsy looks... -

ARCHIVED Distilled Vinegar
happygirl replied to sombrita220's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
According to all the Celiac groups and the American Dietetic Association, distilled vinegar is safe. Many distilled vinegars are not made from wheat in the first place, so those are safe from the beginning. https://www.celiac.com/st_prod.html?p_prodi...-49107582993.25 Anything listed as "vinegar," is, by FDA labeling laws, apple cider vinegar, which... -

ARCHIVED Please Give Me Some Advice
happygirl replied to Dru's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
If you are still eating gluten, then I would ask for the full Celiac blood panel to be run. Many drs' don't run the full panel. AGA IgA and IgG total serum IgA tTG EMA Ask about Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Microscopic Colitis, H.Pylori (causes ulcers), parasites, etc. You could have multiple problems, or have something that is not gluten related...
