  1. Sorry about the confusion on that...I worded it wrong Any food can mount an IgG ("delayed allergy", "sensitivity", or "intolerance" are commonly used). For gluten, its an anti-gliadin IgG. For dairy, its an anti-casein IgG. Etc. Just like any food can mount a "true" allergic response which is IgE mediated, intolerances are IgG mediated. Hope...
  2. The first step is a blood test: Open Original Shared Link Serologic panel Of the commercially available serologic tests that aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease, no one test is ideal. Using multiple serologies increases the diagnostic yield. Therefore, in the United States, screening in patients with possible celiac disease should consist of a...
  3. If you ask your doctor to test you for celiac, ask him to run the full Celiac panel, which consists of five tests: From Columbia University: Open Original Shared Link Serologic panel Of the commercially available serologic tests that aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease, no one test is ideal. Using multiple serologies increases the diagnostic yield...
  4. I looked up your reference ranges, and from your previous post: "Well, the test shows normal ranges for each of the different antibody tests. For the IgG test, which I showed as 41, the normal range is 0-9. For the Immunoglobin A, Qn, Serum (perhaps short for quantity of Immunglobin A in the serum?), the normal range shows on my sheet as 70-400, whereas...
  5. I'm sure someone else will pop in to help, but Open Original Shared Link has some of the answers as interpreted by the owner of the lab. But, wanted to add: They cannot diagnose Celiac. Only a potential gluten sensitivity. Doesn't mean you don't have Celiac, but they can't diagnose it. Casein refers to the milk protein, not just lactose.
  6. Yes, its what I was looking into. I was tested after I had been off all the "bad" foods for awhile, so we'll never fully know...plus, I've had other diagnoses since then. Either way, my reactions closely mimicked the eos. disorders. A good resource for anyone who needs it is www.apfed.org
  7. Due to the FDA food allergen labeling law, the 8 main allergens must be clearly listed. Dairy is one of them, and so it would have to be listed if it was included in the ingredients.
  8. Thanks for sharing!!! What was the name of the lab that had it written incorrectly?
  9. Its because they hadn't been reviewed and pinned by a moderator. You should be able to find them now, because they have been pinned. Since your posts were the same, only one will be kept up. Due to the volume of the board, duplicate postings are not permitted.
  10. R: Wonderful news!!!!! Those IVs sound pretty similar to mine. I'm going away for yet another wedding, but I'll be in touch. Yes, I survived, but can't do them anymore.
  11. I woud contact your pharmacy, they may be able to help. The EZ chews looks safe.
  12. If he wants to run the full Celiac panel (antibodies), then the results are skewed because you are gluten free. You have to be eating gluten in decent amounts for months for the tests to be accurate. You can always have the gene test run, regardless of gluten status. I'd contact his office for clarification.
  13. I would do it. The small price to pay for knowing is worth it. If your child has it, you will be preventing them from many, many health problems by putting them on the diet now, rather than letting them go for years undiagnosed. If your child doesn't have it, then at least you know. Have them do the full Celiac blood panel and the DNA test. If she...
  14. Holy cow, Carla! I'm impressed!!!!!!! And jealous!
  15. If you have further bloodwork/biopsy done, make sure that you continue to eat gluten-don't go gluten free til testing is completed. Make sure that the bloodwork consists of the five Celiac tests. Total IgA AGA Iga AGA IgG EMA IgA tTG IgA If you have the biopsy, ensure that they take multiple biopsies in multiple places.
  16. Modified corn starch is always safe. Modified Food Starch is safe if it doesn't list wheat after it. Wheat is required to be listed and not hidden by FDA law. Gatorade is gluten free, so it probably is something else in it that is bothering you.

  18. www.kirkmanlabs.com All of our ingredients are casein free, gluten free, and sugar free. Unless otherwise noted, they are also free of soy, corn and starch.
  19. Yes, definitely interested in which tests were performed. The full panel is five tests. And, you can still have Celiac (seronegative blood work) or you can have a non Celiac gluten problem. The main way to tell will be to go 100% gluten free and see if it helps resolve your symptoms.
  20. The vast majority of confirmed Celiacs (95%+) have one or both genes: HLA DQ2 or HLA DQ8. Just having the gene doesn't mean you have Celiac. 1 in 133 Americans have Celiac, but about 30% of the population has the gene. Gene doesn't equal Celiac, but if you don't have the gene, you have a much, much, much lower risk (statistically) of having Celiac...
  21. Doesn't surprise me, and is evident in the many on here who have had horrific dietician appointments (myself included). Even one of the leading Celiac dieticians fully acknowledges that the profession doesn't have a clue.
  22. I've used Kinnikinnick pizza crusts (thin) for open faced sandwiches. I also use glutenfree4me but I checked and they don't ship baked goods to where you are.
  23. Citric acid is usually made from corn. Open Original Shared Link is a good list I was intolerant to everything last year, including corn....Corn is in everything. Some people seem to tolerate "some" corn products, others can't tolerate anything. I ate very plain, because corn was everywhere, and I was reacting to so many foods.
  24. I use Bob's Red Mill for everything...including corn bread.
