  1. Dr. Green is one of the leading Celiac experts, and its worth a shot, especially since he is so close to you. www.celiacdiseasecenter.columbia.edu
  2. 1. Call your insurance company and ask for a list of GI doctors in your area. 2. Call/Email the local Celiac support group and ask for a list of recommended/not recommended doctors. Call those drs and find out if they take your insurance.
  3. Yes, the Quest is bloodwork, so it would be run through your dr. I'm assuming labcorp (one of the other major testing labs) does it also.
  4. Lisa, I'm going to OBX in a few weeks, so thanks for the recommendations!!!
  5. Quest (conventional blood work lab) also does IgG testing via blood work and I know they do casein.
  6. Susie, are you looking for regular, gluten free bacon, or gluten free bacon with other "restrictions."
  7. jenna, Can you post the reference ranges, to help you interpret?
  8. Angie, One of the things that I have heard is to do a milk challenge of sorts. If you know you react to plain milk, then try drinking lactaid milk (and no other dairy products before or after). If you do ok with it, then it indicates it is a lactose problem, versus a casein problem.
  9. Make sure that your dr ran the full Celiac blood work: Anti-gliadin antibodies (AGA) both IgA and IgG Anti-endomysial antibodies (EMA) - IgA Anti-tissue transglutaminase antibodies (tTG) - IgA Total IgA level Best of luck. I hope that you find some much-needed answers. "Causes of villous atrophy apart from celiac disease In children less...
  10. A reference, if needed: "Serologic panel Of the commercially available serologic tests that aid in the diagnosis of celiac disease, no one test is ideal. Using multiple serologies increases the diagnostic yield. Therefore, in the United States, screening in patients with possible celiac disease should consist of a panel of the following serologic tests...
  11. LOVE YOU MIA----------THINKING ABOUT YOU.
  12. They will be able to give you their impressions of what they saw, and can diagnose some things based on looking at it. However, if they are taking biopsies of your small intestine during the endoscopy, the slides will be sent out to the pathology department, and you'll have to wait for the results. Some patients are told it didn't "look" like Celiac, but...
  13. I like to joke that I'm such an overachiever that I couldn't just get one tick borne disease, I had to get almost all of them
  14. duplicate post.
  15. Bob, I'm happy that you got tested. It takes about 10 business days from the day it is sent out. Keep us updated! I was dx'ed with Lyme (indicative blood tests), and tested positive for babesia, anaplasmosis, ehrlichiosis, and rocky mountain spotted fever. I've never even seen a tick, but apparently, I got bit by a really icky one!
  16. I'm not feeling great today, so this will be rather short. I've read from Dr. Fasano and Dr. Green that the vast majority have the gene. The numbers I have read are 1-5%. I posted this from Alba, not because its a sales pitch, but because its on their page as their explanation. Dr. Alessio Fasano (Open Original Shared Link) published his results...
  17. Thanks for letting us know, b.e.m!
  18. I think this site and explanation might be interesting and helpful for some: Open Original Shared Link "Celiac disease (
  19. The blood and biopsy tests are worthless if you are gluten free. You should not go gluten free until you have completed testing. The tests measure different types of antibodies to gluten and the damage caused by gluten/antibodies. If you remove gluten (and you are a Celiac), your body stops producing antibodies, and you begin to heal. The goal for a...
  20. I think it may also depend on what the dr. writes on the script, as to what they look for. That has been the case with my procedures. Best of luck, Deb, and I hope you find some answers and you start to feel better. Please keep us updated.
  21. If you are having a colonoscopy (i am assuming, since you are drinking icky stuff), then enterolab isn't going to help determine (i.e., rule in or out) other causes (Crohn's, Ulcerative Colitis, Microscopic Colitis, Eosinophiliac disorders, polyps, etc.). An endoscopy looks for Celiac related damage, a colonoscopy doesn't. It sounds like he is looking...
  22. Welcome back, Carla. Hope you get some good rest, and happy to hear your trip went well!!!
  23. Kassandra, My mom makes the BRM cookies....but doesn't follow their directions on the back. When she does, they are on the "not so great side"!!! But, with her modifications, they are soooo delicious. She baked them for me again, this time while we were all together on vacation. My whole family always eats them (I'm the only Celiac). I'll talk...
  24. Mia, Just wanted to say that I'm sorry you weren't able to make it on your trip, honey. I really understand, and don't blame you. The food issue/planning is enough to make it tough to go on, let alone everything else. Let's hope that next year will be a better time for a trip! I hope you feel a sigh of relief---and I'm proud of you for doing what...
  25. Danielle, Just wanted to welcome you to the board----hope that you stick around and make yourself at home! Best of luck as you deal with your new diagnosis and your job. I'm pulling for you!
