  1. I believe when we die, we go to a much better place and everyone is 26 and painless. Angels are with her and she will always be with you. Deb
  2. We are never safe--doesn't matter what the company says, we are only as safe as the individuals doing the job. The only way something could be gluten free for sure is if it is produced in a comapny that NEVER has gluten in the building--THEN, we still can't be sure where they got the base products from in the first place. Quaker Rice Cakes have never...
  3. I hated eating out for years, even before gluten-free. I used to panic so much when going out. Crowds made me nervous, I had to sit by the door, had to be in a smoke free section (allergic to smoke), had to be close to the bathroom---it was so stressful just to begin with, I could not enjoy the food. Now, I do not even care to eat out. Food isn't important...
  4. I have neverheard of Metanx, I do not think I have ever read about it in my neuropathy forums. Didn't know it existed. I may research that--thanks.
  5. Sandy is absolutely correct. I was on birth control pills and ended up pregnant with my daughter. I do believe in fate too, I believe I was suppose to have this daughter, everything happens for a reason. Yet, also, I was not absorbing the birth control pill--of course my doctor then was a real joker and he says to me, "99% safe and YOU have to be the ...
  6. Yes Ally, it's safe, I take it all the time. FYI, Excedrin Extra Strength has exactly the same ingredients as Excedrin Migraine does and it's safe too. I always buy Excedrin Migraine too, yet one day it was gone and the extra strength was still there and I compared the ingredients to a smaller box of migraine and they are the same and the same strength...
  7. Certainly Karen--Eric Clapton is great too. I will listen to any good guitar player. Karen, have you ever hear Kenny Wayne Sheppard play guitar--he is absolutely wonderful. He is rock/crossover country. I even like many of Guns-n-Roses songs. I just can not tolerate elevator music!!!!!!!!!!
  8. I just received my copy of a new book, The Gluten Connection. This book is written by a doctor, Dr. Shari Lieberman, PhD, CNS, FACN. In this book it is stated: Dr. Lieberman's book raises public awareness about this terrible condition that afflicts many people--some genetically predisposed, some not. One person in the latter category (not genetically...
  9. B6 is helpful with neuropathy, yet generally it is a B12 deficiency that causes neuropathy for celiac's. I take 2400mcg of B12 daily. Have your doctor do blood work up for B12. Some doctors say that a level of say--400 is good, but it's not, that is way too low. I have never been told about magnesium, I will have to research that.
  10. Depending when in December you went gluten free--you may have only been gluten free for 2 months now--3 at the most. Complete healing can not happen that quickly. Depending on how long you have been sick will also determine how long it may take to heal. I personally think that not everyone heals completely, I wonder if any of us heal even 80%. I know...
  11. I have no idea what the numbers mean, I do however know that you do react to gluten. I also know that I do not feel that the medical society knows enough about celiac disease to tell you whether or not you could develop it down the road. I think any person that can not tolerate gluten will eventually have celiac disease if they do not go gluten free. Why...
  12. Guitars, guitars, and guitars! Did I mention guitars? Trace Atkins Keith Urban Delbert McClinton Jimmy Buffett Kenny Wayne Sheppard Toby Keith Sugarland Allison Krauss and believe it or not--Evaessense--hate the lyrics, but love the music
  13. Marcia--I think you were glutened because you handled the donut wrappers, not because of the steering wheel. I am very sensitive too, and if I handle anything with gluten on it, I immediately wash my hands. I break out in hives in a very short time if wheat touches my skin. I clean up messes at work because I work with people who are slobs and I never...
  14. Tide always bothered my brother, when we were kids anyways. On another note--it is winter and it could be dry skin. My skin is much worse this time of year. The heat being on in the house dries the air out which dries our skin too. Just a thought!
  15. This is a very interesting thread. I got a breakout right where my bra is (where I sweat and the sweat doesn't dry quickly)...this break-out was the burning, itching DhNow I do not get the burning or itching, yet a very red rash, identical on both sides, which I also get on my tummy too. I kept thinking it must be a new intolerance. I know I am gluten...
  16. I have the same problem, not as bad as your husband though. I have had it for years and years, I am not sure that celiac's is the cause for me. I was told years and years ago that my esophogus is malformed. I find there are certain foods that are worse than others for me to swallow. The worst thing ever, believe it or not, was pistaschio pudding. I would...
  17. I am not sure, but I am thinking that celiac disease is not considered a part of the American Disability Act. As long as you go gluten free, most problems with the celiac's itself find much relief. If you are gluten free now, midnights should not be any different than any other hours, unless you just do not want midnights. Yet, not wanting to work midnights...
  18. One thing that was not mentioned--the wine. Wine makes me just as ill as being glutened. I now realize I can not drink any alcohol. You may want to try not drinking or if you need--drink it again to see if it is the culprit.
  19. I always use Garnier Nutrisse and have never had a problem. It covers my gray very well. My problem is my hair grows so fast now that I am gluten free, so I do have to color it more often. I keep my hair a medium golden brown (Chestnut) and when the grays grow in, they do really show.
  20. Cassidy--I would say the chances are very slim, but I will not say it could never happen. When I first went gluten free, I still had 2 kids at home and I was never glutened. There was bread in the house, all our dishes went into the dishwasher and I didn't do anything special with the dishes before washing them. I'm sure the kids touched the fridge without...
  21. I have used their bath soaps and am fine. I can't use their shampoos and conditioners, they just are not strong enough for my hair, very few are. I find that Pantene, Aussie, and Fruitis are the only ones able to tame this tiger, with Pantene being my favorite.
  22. I finally have found a primary care physician that I really like. He admits to not knowing much about celiac disease and what he knows now is from info I have given him, yet he is always willing to listen and learn. He offers advice and is always ready to find me a good specialist, if needed. My insurance does require referrals, so I do need a PCP. I...
  23. When I could still have potatoes and ketchup, I never had a problem at McD's either Larry. As I stated, my sister still eats them with no problem. It's just a matter of personal choice if you go to McD or not. Many people love fastfood, I never have. I never enjoyed eating in restaurants in the first place. I did however, love fries. Just 2 yrs ago...
  24. If you do not take any other vitamins, you should at least take B12. B12 is the vitamin for neuropathy, B6 sometimes helps too. B6 helps raise your serotonin. B12 deficiency is one cause for neuropathy. I take 2400mcg of B12 daily, plus a good multiple vitamin, and folic acid. I plan to add a B-complex this week, having just found out I should be taking...
  25. We all react differently. Your body has to detox itself and if you give it time, I think you will start feeling better. Maybe you are still getting some gluten. Have you checked your toiletries, meds, and cross contamination may be a factor.
