  1. And the server Right now I'm in NJ, but in a week I'm moving and transfering to the Outback in Frederick, MD. If any Celiacs come in, ask for me as your server! To address angel's question - when I said to make sure your server writes GLUTEN FREE on his/her "ticket" I mean the piece of paper on which they write your order. This gets turned into...
  2. I work at Outback, and I must honestly say that if anyone thinks they will always get a 100% gluten-free meal at a BUSY place that serves gluten food, as well, you are kidding yourself. HOWEVER, I think it is reasonable to expect that since they offer a gluten-free menu, your meal should usually be safe. If I could give anyone recommendations on how...
  3. First of all - those of you in Denver are so lucky to have Deby's! I've been to CO before, way pre-Celiac, but now I really want to go there to visit Deby's! Is it weird that I want to plan a vacation around gluten-free food availability?? Second, Uncrustables are these round sandwiches (made with gluten bread) with peanut butter and jelly. They're...
  4. This topic makes me miss Uncrustables I almost forgot about them. Someone needs to make a gluten-free version. - Lauren
  5. I don't mean to be the Debbie Downer of the bunch, but I went to Acapulco for spring break almost 3 years ago and I have never been so sick in my life. I definitely stopped eating anything there, and relied only on my snacks I brought. I would have brought more, but I was afraid they were going to seize them. Hopefully the others' positive experiences...
  6. Oh I totally understand your excitement. I'm getting my masters in Publication Management, so I was just interested from that sense. Did you print a set amount of copies? Print-on-demand? Are you selling copies? Sorry if I'm being nosey (or living vicariously through you!) - Lauren
  7. Hey mamaw (and any other Everybody Eats fans out there) - Last year I ordered a ton of stuff from their during their holiday special sale. I haven't heard anything about it this year, but I have moved since then. Do you know if they're doing that again this year?? TIA! - Lauren
  8. I would also argue that more "intellectual" people might be more likely to pursue a Celiac diagnosis - both because they would most likely be financially able to, and because they would probably be more educated about health care (and access to resources). Interesting observation, nevertheless. - Lauren
  9. Betsy - how cool! What publishing company did you use? - Lauren
  10. Just one simple product: Mrs. Dash (all varieties) has helped me kick up my otherwise bland cooking. I love spice, and flavor, and these really help, especially when my cooking attempt leaves something to be desired. It depends on the grocery store as to whether or not they carry gluten-free pastas. My local grocery stores have been carrying them, but...
  11. Hey Sweetfudge, Check out these two print on demand sites, I think they may meet your need: www.booksjustbooks.com www.gorhamprinting.com I used booksjustbooks for my project, and it was very easy and user-friendly. Let us know how it goes! - Lauren
  12. Ahhh I think you're thinking of Don Pablo's. They're chips in the restaurants that I've been in having always been in shared fryers, but I've had the chips sold in the super market before. I'd think they would be safe, but don't quote me on it. - Lauren
  13. Hey now I have to come to the "No Oats" cookies' defense! Everyone's taste is different, I guess, b/c I LOVE those cookies. The trick is warming them up! And then I really discovered how much I liked them when I topped them with creamed cheese icing! - Lauren
  14. Hey, I'm getting my masters in Publication Management and am currently taking a "Book Proposals" class, so I can try to help you out. If you are doing this as a project for yourself, definitely a self-publishing site would be your best bet. You could choose the style (hardcover, paperback, what type of binding, trime size, page weight, design, font...
  15. Trader Joe's french rolls are the exact same as Gillian's French Rolls - just with the TJ brand name. Cheaper too! - Lauren
  16. Welcome to the board, jgross. I have the same guilt over food prices and wasting food. Have you considered going to therapy? Have you seen a doctor for the weight loss? My weight loss caused a lot of medical problems, including osteopenia (I'm only 24) and dangerously low potassium and magnesium. I'm here for you if you have any questions, I have been in...
  17. I've been to both the Whole Foods in B-more and Philly (21st & Callowhill), as well as Wegman's in Mt. Laurel, NJ As far as the Bakehouse items in Philly - they don't always have a big selection out, but they have stuff back in the freezer. They don't like to put too much out on display b/c it spoils very quickly. Maybe that was the case in B-more...
  18. Oh my Gosh, Jess, your post could have been my own! That is EXACTLY how my diagnosis went! Pancreatitis is the most painful thing I have ever experienced! And as I was getting better (still undiagnosed w/Celiac, mind you), all I ate was graham crackers. I would eat a HALF of a single graham cracker and be sooo bloated and uncomfortable. This went on for awhile...
  19. I think that they're OK. They are very small; not big enough to actually make a sandwich or anything. They taste good heated up, but get "tough" as they cool down. I ate mine as a dinner roll with a salad or soup. In the future, I'll stick with my Gillian's rolls! - Lauren
  20. Yes we can have it (last I checked their website!) If you are a peanut butter fan, as I am, try their chocolate peanut butter kind! Also very good if you like that kind of popcorn is the Lesser Evil - Open Original Shared Link It's scrumptious! - Lauren
  21. Oh that is so right up my alley! Have you tried it with gluten-free brownie mixes? If so, which one worked for you? Drooling.... - Lauren (who will follow clbevilacqua's directions exactly - except the sharing part)
  22. I really like the apple cinnamon raisin kind! - Lauren
  23. I work at Outback, but I don't know the recipe for anything. They're very secretive about that kind of stuff. - Lauren
  24. No prob, I like to keep the peace Hmmm... so what would your son eat if it was entirely up to him? Are you concerned about him losing weight and being malnourished? Would he drink Ensure or Boost or Carnation Instant Breakfasts? - Lauren
  25. ooooh, I love Kahlua! And sweet potatoes and yams! Floridanative - what kind of yams are gluten-free? - Lauren
