  1. Bob's Red Mill does NOT label their cornmeal as glutenfree. It is at their gluten-containing plant. Their products labelled gluten-free are done in a separate facility.
  2. What cereal was it? I'm in Canada and have noticed some changes as of late on my products but have called and confirmed they were still safe.
  3. Yes, so says their site: Open Original Shared Link
  4. I had a bought of nasty reactions last year and took Benedryl liquid, which at the time, was gluten-free. I would assume it still is. I am not sure about the capsules.
  5. Rachel - do you have a link to that info? That is a good one, I'd like to save it in my favourites. Thanks!
  6. Amy's practices really strict cross contamination practices.
  7. I would never use anything of Bob's not in the dedicated plant. I have gotten very sick from two of the things not in the plant from before I realized there were two (in the first four months or so of gluten-free years ago). Arrowhead Mills makes a soy flour if you need one.
  8. To avoid this, I make all of my own. Cut corn tortillas, season if you want, squeeze a bit of lime if you so desire, oil a little, bake til crispy.
  9. Millet is, however, gluten-free. Just to not confuse new people to the disease and diet.
  10. You can always chop 'em up and put them in baking. Delicious in pierogies, too.
  11. I was intrigued by the flavour you posted, so looked at their site, and this is on their website: For information on our specialty food product line: Douglas Cross Enterprises c/o Richmond Tracy, Sales Manager 2030 5th Ave Seattle, WA 98121 tel (206) 448-1193 fax (206) 448-1979 or email richmond@tomdouglas.com
  12. Not to Canada. They don't sell it anywhere around me, but my gluten-free mom likes it and sometimes we pick it up over the border, a skip away for us.
  13. Are you strength training? Eating properly? Only biking? Doing the same route daily? There are a lot of factors to gaining muscle, and losing fat. I can help you with some specifics if you want - I'm a personal trainer, and can offer you some advice if you want to explore your options.
  14. Good luck with your training! Feel free to PM me if you want a woman's point of view (although I am sure your brother is well-versed in all areas). Again, good luck!
  15. Yes, definitely focus on performance vs. weight loss. It is quite likely you're not eating enough if you're second guessing if you are are. I can help you out if you want; I'm a personal trainer.
  16. Salem, In another celiac forum I read that in the states there are cross contamination issues, but in Canada, they are in a dedicated facility. I don't eat them myself, but that is the last I heard, and I see you're in BC. I would call and just double check if I were you.
  17. Are you going on to be on the US or Canadian side? Try buffaloglutenfree.org for the states side. I'm from the Niagara Region on the Canadian side, so if you are going to certain places, I might be able to guide you to some places close by.
  18. My mom eats there often. She doesn't order the fries, but they do have the * that indicates in the same fryer, and they do have breaded chicken.
  19. If you rid yourself of gluten, there probably isn't anywhere else that casein might be hiding. I have a completely gluten and casein-free house; I can't think of anything that would particular to either protein.
  20. I am vegan and gluten-free, and eat a primarily raw foods diet. I do eat a lot of nuts and seeds, but because it's good fat, and I eat all whole foods, I am not concerned. If I was getting fat elsewhere in large amounts (dairy/eggs, oils), I would just watch the amounts.
  21. The extremely small amounts we use makes it last a long time. I would never buy bulk (because it's often not very sanitary, plus extreme possibility of cross contamination) but most stores will purchase you a case in their order, which often saves money.
  22. It has a much lower level on the Glycemic Index, so some diabetics can tolerate it. That being said, you can use it 1:1 for honey, maple syrup, et cetera, and use 3/4 c. per 1 c. of sugar, adjusting liquids by about 1/4 cup (use your eye - that is what I do). Have fun!
  23. I use pure hemp protein; it's by far the most nutritious.
  24. Looking for safe nuts and seeds - other than the almonds and walnuts, the others at Costco aren't on safe lines. I'm mostly looking for pepitas, sunflower seeds, hazelnuts, brazil nuts, cashews. Raw, too. I'm in Canada, and don't want to order online. Thanks!

    ARCHIVED Protein

are you sure you aren't getting enough? most people think they aren't, when indeed they are - and the majority of north americans get too much protein, anyway. i would count your diet and make sure before you have to unnecessarily adjust your amounts. many gluten-free grains are much higher in protein than wheat, too.
