There is a theory as to why oriental women do not have the problems Western women do - the theory is that their diet is based more on soy than wheat, like ours. I just remember that when I was having "female problems" that a nice bowl of miso soup would help a lot. But things got too bad for me and I had to have a complete hysterectomy four years ago. ...

ARCHIVED My First Celaic Panel Lab Results
nettiebeads replied to Random Guy's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I agree that the biopsy would probably be a waste of time and money. It can rule in celiac disease, but not rule it out - false negatives can happen. At one time biopsy was the golden rule, but not so much any more. But of course, if your curious as to if damage has been done and if so, how much, go for it. But the biopsies can miss the damaged area or... -
Hi squared!! I haven't ever had my genes done, but I'm curious about them too. You symptoms read very much like some of the others in this forum, and I believe they are definitely gluten related. I don't think that there are ANY absolutes when it comes to celiac disease, gluten-intolerent, genes, gluten sensitivity, whatever.... It does sound like the gluten...

ARCHIVED Can You Become Severely Allergic To Bread?
nettiebeads replied to Mo92109's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I'd definitely see the dr. or an allergist. Allergies are not completely understood even in this day and age. The medical field doesn't understand why they happen, but do understand the how and can treat that. They haven't figured out why some allergies are outgrown, others worsen and why if some are outgrown, others can take their place. My allergies... -
ARCHIVED Is Gluten Killing My Brain Cells?
nettiebeads replied to cornbread's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I get the brain fog, but not as severe as yours, but I was giving myself a low level glutening every day by eating cold cereal with malt. I started to get numbness in my extremeties and a constant low level brain fog. My theory is that the celiac disease causes malabsorption and so the body doesn't get what it needs to keep your nerve cells healthy and... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Else Get The Worst Gas
nettiebeads replied to danikali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Lucky you! I don't have to eat gluten for gas!!! Good thing I'm in my own office in the back of the building (but it is right next to the kitchen...) -
Same here. Looks like next week's episode is about AIDS. I'll watch it just to get to the previews.

ARCHIVED Wal Mart's Great Value Product
nettiebeads replied to hipretty's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Thanks for the info. I love it when a company has either gluten free or the allergens listed. My eyes get so tired of reading tiny print on label after label after label..... (for those in the right area, Kroger's soy is also gluten free) -
I've been watching "House" looking for the celiac disease Show. Do you think it might be on tonight? The previews from last week showed a bicyclist racing, falling, and something about his system(s) shutting down or dying. Do you think that might be the one??

ARCHIVED Dairy
nettiebeads replied to lizzy's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Yougurt is made from a good bacteria that is helpful to your gut. Sour cream isn't. That's why yougurt is often recommended. -
I've read on other posts that if the turkey is stuffed, it's off limits to those with gluten issues. How bout roasting a turkey breast for yourself?

Go to www.conceptionabbey.org - the nuns make a wafer that is okay'ed by the Church and is considered gluten-free!. Hope that helps.

ARCHIVED So Cool! Gluten-free Mentioned On Radio
nettiebeads replied to Canadian Karen's topic in Publications & Publicity
Yes, in this case mainstream is good! (don't worry, I'll never tune out the drummer that I march to). I was so very very surprised to find a small shelf of gluten-free items in my local grocery store. We're a small town, and the chain only has four stores or so in the state of Missouri!!!!!! YEAH! -
ARCHIVED gluten-free Vitamin ?
nettiebeads replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Brewer's yeast is the culprit, I bet. It's a by-product of beer making . I use Spring valley products too, some of them have gluten, some don't. (had to donate two bottles to my dd two weeks ago) -
I made the most astounding pie crust Saturday. The original recipe is: 2 c flour 1 tsp salt (I add 1 to 3 tsp sugar) 1 cup crisco 1 tbl vinegar 1/3 to 2/3 c milk I substituted a mix of gluten-free flours (soy, rice, potato starch, tapioca. Whatever) and 1 tsp guar gum. I cut the crisco to 2/3 c. Kept the vinegar, but added the milk very sparingly...

I love your response. Jesus was very angry at the Pharisees who worshipped their rules instead of praising God for what he had done for them. Dogma, wonderful thing that it is. There's a joke (a sad commentary really) that goes something like this: The devil was asked if he was ever scared or worried when revivals got going and lots of people began to...

ARCHIVED Chilli Ingrediants
nettiebeads replied to bluelotus's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think I would put it down to the combination. We had chili a few nights ago (my husband thinks he's still cooking in the restaurant so we had more than a gallon of the stuff) with just about the same ingredients as you did. I'm bloated still. Probably the beans. I wonder if the combination of celiac disease and age makes things a little harder to handle... -
ARCHIVED Green Bean Casserole... How Do You Make It gluten-free?
nettiebeads replied to Jnkmnky's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I've made cream soup with cornstarch - couldn't tell the difference since it was used with tomato sauce for smothered swiss steak. -
ARCHIVED Just One Little Question.....
nettiebeads replied to danikali's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Vydor is right, the symptoms can change, which makes it even harder for drs to dx from symptoms. Even though I've been gluten-free for 9 yrs, my reactions to accidental glutening are different than they used to be. The D is gone, but the fatigue and irritablity live on. Good question though -
ARCHIVED Help... Sick, Stressed And Can't Sleep...
nettiebeads replied to gabrielle's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
On days er, nights that I'm having problems with sleep, I use plain ole antihistimines. Benadryl (or generic) knock me right out. It won't address all of your other issues, but you may get some sleep. And you know what they say about colds - if you medicated yourself, it'll last seven days. If you don't do anything, the cold will last a week. -
ARCHIVED Newbie Here, Please Help!
nettiebeads replied to Liezl's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Deb is right - take yourself back down to simple basics. Your intestines have been damaged and it takes time to heal. Think baby - easily digested foods -but NO GLUTEN. And you'll probably have to eliminate dairy for awhile. The part of the intestines that are damaged from gluten is also the part that makes lactase to digest milk products. As you heal... -
ARCHIVED gluten-free & Friends(?)
nettiebeads replied to Nevadan's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Well, considering a lot of drs don't understand celiac disease - and you think that at least THEY would want to know more, I suppose the reactions of typical lay people shouldn't be surprising. But you would think that if they were more of the friends that you thought they were that they would be more caring or at least try to understand more. I don't bother... -
I haven't found any regular campbells, but their Select gold label in a box - butternut and italian tomato don't have wheat. Progresso new england clam chowder, Southwestern-style chicken, Campbells chunky Grilled Sirloin steak, and their chunky chilis don't list wheat either.
