  2. Gonna Fly Now -- Bill Conti
  3. It's always good to read things are brighter for someone who has been through a lot. My mom was dx with Alzheimer's but ended up with Parkinson's instead and my dad passed last May from vascular dementia. It's ALL hard! I'm sorry for your loss and happy sunshine is yours once again. The difficult times do make the good times sweeter!
  4. Telephone -- Lady GaGa
  5. To be fair to Dr. Harmon, I never met him. It was a nutritionist who works with him that told me what was required. If I hadn't have been so sick, I would have kept the appointment but because of the malpractice that I I incured over the years by other doctors, (this is truth), my husband did not want me to hurt myself in order to get a diagnosis for something...
  6. I am going to focus on my mom this next week. She told me today that she was ready for a long vacation and she is losing weight. Thank you, everybody. I appreciate your words.
  7. 15 months in and still crawling through the tunnel. Thank you for sharing how well you're doing!
  8. In my mind's eye, I see you going back to her, showing her the rash caused by gluten and then handing her a bill for her continuing education. . I'm glad you figured it out!
  9. Alright, I'm ready to get off the ride now. I had some dairy a few weeks back and reacted to it. I'm going on a trip and thought it would be a good idea to reintroduce some intolerant foods so that I might try the swanky hotel gluten-free food. *ouch!* It was around the same time my mom went on hospice and a few other potential disasters came in that day...
  10. Ask your doctor when it is a good time to add other foods and the length of time you need to give each trial so there's no overlap. Sometimes the testing company can advise you as well.
  11. Ditto!
  12. I was tested for food intolerances (not allergies) and eating ONLY the foods that were okay, brought down my inflammation overnight. One caveat, the tests showed my body had no reactivity towards soy but they say if you have experienced sensitivity to something in the past, don't eat it. I tested it out and still reacted to it. So, I'd say, stick to the...
  13. I'm glad you posted this because, I too freaked out about seeing my personal info on my profile page. I ended up filling in bogus information and now realize what happened to my Gluten Sensitivity Journal. It's being mailed to A Non!
  14. Yep. That's what's happening to me now. *ugh!*. Thanks for this NVS.
  15. Thank you for your message on my blog. I needed a strong voice. You are absolutely right!

  16. Thanks and good to know! Oddly, it comes up on about.com as well and that's a source I've come to trust. The insurance company has been called and the ball is back in our court. I'm under a great amount of stress and think this is, most likely, the reason I feel terrible.
  17. Great. We had a slab leak last month and drywall opened up in several rooms while they rerouted the pipes. I thought the three days of jack hammering just took it's toll. The insurance company delayed and I've been living in my house with drywall everywhere. It was built in '81. I kept waiting to clean it up until after the work was complete and there...
  18. The last time I went to the dentist, I got shingles twice in a two-month period. That was when I was still eating gluten so I doubt it had to do with gluten in products (though now I know to ask about that!). My immune system was in such lousy condition that I believe it was just the trauma of the dental cleaning that made me so sick. I haven't been back...
  19. I've lost faith in restaurants as well (except for one). If it is all inclusive, that would solve that problem. The B&B in SA only served breakfast and that made renting a house more feasible since cooking our own meals is necessary. My aunt and uncle have a B&B and they eventually built their own living quarters which made a big difference to...
  20. I agree, thanks for the laugh!
  21. I believe that is what is going on with me. I was about to post a topic asking about stress and decided to do a search first. Thanks!

    ARCHIVED Sleep

Thank you for the post. I just realized my lifelong issue with sleep talking/walking disappeared. *woot*! It makes me wonder if my college roomie has gluten issues. She's 4'10". Our dorm room neighbors told us we'd regularly talk all night long! Sleep gossip In Biology, I remember my head bobbing and on one occasion, holding my eyelids open. That...
  23. There's an app called NxtNutrio where you can mark off what you want to avoid, (ex: gluten, soy, etc.), and an area where you can claim a condition, (heart disease, celiac, etc.). It has a barcode reader and it tells you if the food you're considering for purchase is safe and why or why not. I relied heavily on it in the beginning and learned a lot about...
