I don't find the source (the seller of organic products)to be that reliable edited-they don't sell organic products, that was incorrect! , BUT here is a supporting article from the US Food and Drug Administration Open Original Shared Link So what does this mean?? Wouldn't the new food labeling laws require some disclosure...somewhere?? if the wax was...

ARCHIVED Gluten In Recreational Drugs?
mmaccartney replied to romeo77's topic in Introduce Yourself / Share Stuff
well now, how would you know unless you made the drugs your self, or knew the person that did? gluten is used as a binder in many pharmaceutical drugs, so any "street drugs" in a pill or powder form would be questionable. Powders (such as cocaine, some speeds, crystal LSD) are "cut" to increase the quantity, and hence the profit. If you don't know what... -
I got one on a Continental flight from Newark to Europe. It was strawberries, oranges, apples, and I think it had blueberries on it, but don't quote me. I got some funny looks when they brought me 2 fruit plates in a row instead of a salad and then main course, BUT i did not get sick..
-
I would bring my own food, and order a Fruit Plate, if they have it to avoid CC and other issues. I've never flown Air India, perhaps it won't be an issue for you. The last thing you want to do is get sick on an airplane...trust me!

ARCHIVED Marshmallow Peeps Pie Recipe
mmaccartney posted a topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
When I saw this at Open Original Shared Link I recalled the thread on Peeps, and all the interest. The recipe requires a lot of dairy, but perhaps someone can modify it. enjoy... Chocolate and Peeps Pie 1 1/2 cups graham crackers, crushed 2 tablespoons granulated sugar 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted 2 full packages of Peeps, 30 Peeps... -

mmaccartney replied to SurreyGirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I'm in the dark too! ???? -
Well, I'll chime in and say that I (and my family) LOVE soymilk. We drink it every day, use it in all baked items, I use Silk French Vanilla in my coffee almost daily. my sons drink chocolate soy milk constantly. But hey, I'm the guy that likes to eat onions like apples! limes and lemons too!! To each their own! Enjoy the Dari free, I'll...

ARCHIVED First Cause Of Autoimmunity?
mmaccartney replied to SurreyGirl's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
Wow, call me skeptical! I agree that the presentation of the website is not professional, and makes me further skeptical. She states that I disagree with this, isn't prevention of infection the primary reason we get vaccinations?? The flu vaccine is administered to prevent infection. The polio vaccine is administered to prefent infection of polio... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Free Labeling
mmaccartney replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Being extra sensitive, what does "gluten free" labeling mean to me? Even if a company tests their products, they can only state that it does not contain any detectable amounts of gluten. There can still be amounts of gluten in the "gluten free" foods that is detectable by our bodies! Do some searching on peoples reactions to "gluten free" labeled products... -
ARCHIVED Another Question For Dairy Free
mmaccartney replied to BamBam's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Are you sure there wasn't something else that caused the reaction, perhaps CC or another ingredient?? Sodium Lactate is not usually milk based. Both my children ingest food containing sodium lactate without any reaction.. In the UK, Sodium Lactate is defined as =================================== Sodium salt of lactic acid (E270), a natural acid produced... -
ARCHIVED Salad Dressing
mmaccartney replied to mbg98's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
You dairy tolerant people kill me!! What I would give to eat a salad topped with Kraft Buttermilk Ranch dressing. The closest I can come is Hidden valley ranch produces a Kosher ranch dressing powder mix (Check the ethnic aisles at the supermarket), and I mix that with soymilk, and soy sour cream. It's not the best tasting, but it cures the need for... -
I've been exploring this myself. I am pursuing a formal diagnosis from an MD. Why? I believe that Celiac disease (and my associated arthritis) qualify as a disability under the americans with disabilities act. A formal dx would give me protection under that act. Now, if you are looking for more answers for your own peace of mind, I'll give you the advice...

ARCHIVED Easter Brunch At Club
mmaccartney replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
The important part of the brunch is the socialization, go for that, but bring your own food!!! They should waive the $22 fee if you aren't going to eat! But thats me! I'm super sensitive. I always bring my own food to all events. -
ARCHIVED Help, I Have My Blood Test Results!
mmaccartney replied to Aquina1300's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
The Anti-Gliadin IgG test being positive is an indicator for celiac disease. It can also be an indicator of other (dont ask what, I don't know!) conditions as well. the IgG test is very sensitive, meaning it results in few false negative/positive results, however it is not very specific, meaning it could be positive for many conditions, not just celiac. ... -
ARCHIVED Need Birthday Cake Rescuing!
mmaccartney replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Man, what a bummer! I hope you are feeling better this morning, though it may take longer. Do you really want to try another gluten challenge....? Question: Are you milk reactions that simliar to your gluten reactions?? Mine are simliar, but milk does not give me the severe abdominal pain, and arthritis flare ups (for days) that... -
ARCHIVED Does Anyone Feel Good At All?
mmaccartney replied to Carolita's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
On a gluten and dairy free diet, I do feel better. I can't say that I feel great, nor can I say that I feel good everyday. I still live with pain every day from my arthritis, and my gut seems to be tempermental nowadays. I am pretty darn sure I'm not getting any CC as I make 99% of my foods from whole ingredients...very little processed foods and no restaurants... -
ARCHIVED Need Birthday Cake Rescuing!

ARCHIVED Chocolate Frosting
mmaccartney replied to RoseNNJ's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Get out your frosting eating spoon!! There may be more, but for these I know that they are gluten and dairy free. Pillsbury "Creamy Supreme" Frosting Vanilla - UPC: 51500 76080 Chocolate - UPC: 51500-76050 Pillsbury tells me that they are gluten and dairy free. I cannot recall if they are on dedicated lines or not, but for such a common flavor... -
I got so depressed when I found out I was casein intolerant. I had been on a df diet for some time, as I knew milk was causing me a problem (food diary told me so!). I was truly hoping I was lactose intolerant due to intestinal damage, and was holding out hope that I could have things like blue cheese, chedder cheese, ANY cheese!! Ice creams, cream cheese...

ARCHIVED Tater Tots And Smiley Fries
mmaccartney replied to StrongerToday's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
What kind of tater tots are you having? Ore-Ida makes tater tots, and the ingredients list doesn't suggest anything bad in it, however they do not appear on their official gluten free list so I have always avoided them. If you are near a Giant Eagle, I eat their tater tots all the time and haven't had a problem...yet! -
ARCHIVED Joint Pain
mmaccartney replied to jaimi alderson's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Thought I'd post again! My artihritis usually flares up with glutening, however lately it's been coming back bad. Not sure if it is the changes in weather as spring is coming, I know I haven't been glutened! Today, and for the past few days my hips have been bad, my lower back has been quite painful. My hands, wrists and arms are much worse then normal... -
ARCHIVED New Here - A Few Questions Re Tests
mmaccartney replied to a topic in Parents, Friends and Loved Ones of Celiacs
The intestinal biopsy can only rule IN celiac. If the test comes back negative, it is a useless test as it can provide a high rate of false negatives (like me!). My heart goes out to you, having a young one that sick for that long is heart wrenching, and it sounds like you have had a particularly rough time with it. It seems that she has had a very... -
ARCHIVED Trix Not Gluten-free
mmaccartney replied to VydorScope's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Be nice! I have to read labels 2 3, sometimes 4 times at the stores!! Try Silk Soymilk if you can have soy, its a great dairy substitute. Even before going df I found it to be better tasting!
