Lipstick has been the biggest challenge for me.
I know that ALL of Burts Bee's Lipsticks and Lip Shimmers are gluten free.
Clinique COLOR SURGE LIPSTICK (all) line is gluten free. Not all Clinique is gluten free.

Several years ago I was diagnosed with a kidney disease (Minimal Change Nephrotic Syndrome) and discovered, through a long process, that I could get it into remission by going fanatically gluten-free. No nasty medications or anything.
"Coincidentally", a little boy on my 10 year old son's soccer team has the same kidney disease. He's been on prednisone for 8 years and has never gone into remission. When I told his mom what I did to get better and how I've stayed in remission for 3-1/2 years, she was interested in having him try the diet. He doesn't have any symptoms of Celiac. He's been on the diet for about 8 or 9 days and I got a message on my answering machine that he's showing signs of going into remission for the first time in 8 years! I am so excited that my experience could actually help someone, especially a child!
Liz, that is so neat. Just think that the quality of life you, by chance, have offered that young man and his family. Nothing is better than hope. Yah-ho for you!

Good Grief Andi.....I think that you have changed my mind. I should be quite content to watch my twenty year old cat breath.
I am a little terrier shy. When our Bull Terrier's ball rolled under the sofa, he just moved the sofa to reach the ball, ate the vacume and walked through the screen door whenever he wanted to go outside.
We have generally had labs for most of our lives and looking for a smaller dog with a longer lifespan.
I'll check out the white westies. Thanks

I was gluten free for over a year when I started issues with dairy. That period lasted about six months. I gradually introduced it to my diet and now I don't appear to have any issues at all.
I hope the same for you.

Hello All -
We are looking into a new pup. Jack Russells have always interested me. We used to have a
Bull Terrier (dog from *ell and a very long, funny story) and never again. I can handle a Jack.
Has anyone had any experience with Jack Russells? Advise welcome.
Edit: Could someone please add an extra "l" to my subject line.

Yes . ... ..sometimes my posts are for my own amusement only.
And yes, definitely no Joey in me.
Strangely, multiple strangers have said I looked like Woody Harrelson, tho that's when I'm less underweight than now.
And how's THIS for a fun moment!! I got CARDED at WhFds buying some Redbridge!!
(fyi to the newer, I'm 36 . .. . .no wait .. . I'm 45 but want to THINK I'm 36!)
There's a realgood chance I have SHIRTS older than the clerk!
Off to the Gordon Biersch brewpub w/ bands on heated patio!!
<bah . .. .do I drink water or wine .. . .>
I had the pleasure of rubbing shoulders with Tom during lunch.....and quite a handsome Woodly Harrelson he was (is)!
(Sorry guys...Now, he'll act like a genuine tamponhead, with a stuck up attitude and a swelled ego)

Hello. I was just diagnosed with Celiac disease. I've been very sick most of my life and it was a relief to finally find out what was wrong. Talk about sticker shock when buying wheat free gluten free bread. I'm looking into it and am considering learning to make my own. My question about reading labels is if it says gluten free on the label does that mean it is safe to eat? And if so why do some things say gluten free/wheat free? Is there a list somewhere that has everything that I need to look for on a label? There are some words on labels that I have no idea what they are so am looking for a list of everything including those. Came home pretty depressed from shopping for foods I can eat. It was very expensive and I did not get much.
Jamie
Welcome Jamie,
First, take a deep breath. The beginning is the hardest time. This is a great place for information and support.
There is no need to rush out and buy specific gluten free foods. I did that in the beginning also and six months later, I threw it all out. As close as you are to your transition, you will find that they are not very good right now.
Stick to a "naked diet", as many calls it. Meat, fish, veggies, rice, potatoes and fresh fruit. Limit species until you know what is safe. There are some wonderful recipes on this site which will get you in the right direction.
If a product is labeled Gluten Free, it is free of wheat, rye, malt, barley and sometimes oats. If a product says Wheat Free, you must look for other gluten culprits as barley, malt or rye.
Not to add to your emotional burden, a new toaster is a must. I replaced all my wooden cooking spoons, chopping block and scratched non-stick pans, because gluten can hide everywhere.
Check you cosmetics and especially your lipstick and lip balms. Yes, they put wheat in lipstick
And most of all, read as much as you can from this site. You will find no better Celiac Experts than on this site. You are in a good place.
https://www.celiac.com/st_main.html?p_catid...-36107455581.0d
This will get you started. Perhaps someone can post the listing for the companies who will always list gluten as Kraft does.
Hope this helps.

Nausea is my own internal alarm that tells me to look for the bathroom, now.

If gluten is your only issue, yes it makes a tremendous difference. The ONLY way to be truly free of the symptoms of Celiac is to be totally compliant to the diet and the possibilities of cc.
It's been over two years for me and it is hard to remember how sick I actually was.

Yes, there is a light at the end of the tunnel.
I was diagnosed with something that they called Celiac Disease in August of 2004. As many of you, I learned what it was from the Internet, which found me here.
The first year was a bit wild. Learning and confidence took a good part of a year. The second year after being diagnosed was a creative one. I learned to cook and entertain totally gluten free. All the time, incidences became further and further apart. Dairy was an issue for a time, but that has gotten better.
Today and for some time now, I feel wonderful. All the symptoms which kept me house bound for two months are gone. I eat better, I exercise, I do not feel deprived and all is well. I am fortunate that all I have is a gluten problem.
The road to good health is not an easy one. But it can be done. There is a light.

Marcia,
If you were loosely diagnosed with Celiac, do you follow the diet loosely as well?
I would revisit your diet and make sure that it's clean from gluten including lipsticks, shampoos, shared toaster or cc from home or restaurants.
If your rash does not clear up, then perhaps see a doctor.

I can hear the excitement in your voice. Great for you Ali!

I am still trying to figure out the difference between celiac disease and gluten sensitivity, if there is any. Can anyone answer my question? I know that they can share common symptoms and that the treatment is a gluten-free diet for both. I was wondering whether or not someone with gluten sensitivity is at risk of developing lymphoma, and all the other autoimmune diseases, etc. that are associated with a celiac not following a gluten-free diet. I would appreciate any info on the matter. Thanks
With Celiac Disease, gluten will set off an autoimmune reaction in the small intestines which caused damage. With a gluten sensitivity, you will have the same symptoms as with Celiac, but the damage will not occur.
It is thought the a sensitivity may be a precursor to Celiac

Make something that is gluten free and share with everyone. That way they will know that you can enjoy some of the same things that other people do. Double Chocolate Brownies would be a good thought.

All the ingridents look ok in the soup I called the company and they said they would clearly list if it contained any allergens I know some have eaten other flavors but has anyone had this one here is a link to the ingridents
Open Original Shared Link
The natural flavors could mean barley or malt as they are not considered the top 8 allergins. With that said, I do not buy this product and usually make my own soup.
Perhaps others have confirmation from the company or eat it without issues.

Welcome Peter, you did it right!
But, sorry not from Florida.

Where can i find them?
I can find them at our local Food Lion or Farm Fresh in the health food section.

The best one that I have enjoyed is "KIND" Fruit and Nut Bar, which is Australian. It's really good and all natural, gluten free, wheat free, dairy free.
-
thank you all, but I have another question, .. What kind of doctor should I go to to have this diagnosed? I want to do this asap.
These are some or all of the tests your Primary Doctor may order:
IgC Antigliadin
IgA Antigliadin
tTG Antigliandin
IgC Tissue Translutaminase
IgA Tissue Transglutaminase
Total IgA

I was glutened yesterday at a restaurant. I thought I was safe with salad minus the dressing but the bacon bits got me. I'm new at all of this and it's quite a learning curve. I'm still sick today. I'm dealing with nausea and stomach cramps. Is this from yesterday or could I have been glutened again? If I was glutened again, I can't think what from.
In the beginning, I found that salads in general were pretty hard for me to digest and left me with some uncomfort.
It may take a while to know the difference between not being healed and a glutened experience.

Susan gave you some great advise.
This forum can be your lifeline. You will find no better experts or advise anywhere.
Read as much as you are able to consume. If it has to do with Celiac Disease or Gluten Intollerence, it's been discussed here.
Welcome!
