  1. Jerry: Please correct me if I am wrong, but have you not felt better eliminating gluten from your life. I know that you have added it into your diet to test. I know that everyone needs to do what they feel comfortable with. If you feel you need the written word, then go for the testing. It is all a personal choice If you do test and it is negative...
  2. I think both could have been an issue. Most likely the Rot. Chicken from Walmart. I KNOW that the ones at Sams have wheat in them - Sam Walmart.. KC Masterpiece could have hit you as well. I am not certain. Suggestion: Tyson Roasted Whole Chicken was gluten free the last that I checked and very good, easy and fast. Sweet Baby Ray's is the best...
  3. Sara: La Choy Soy Sauce is gluten free, and easily available.
  4. Thanks T, I will make note as not to pass it along.
  5. Char: The blood test are not one of my most informed areas... But, I guess that would depend on how long Emma has been gluten free. My blood tests were negative after I was gluten free for two months. I did have a positive biopsy when i was dx'd. If Emma is improving on the diet, you may want to consider not testing (mine cost $1,500) it is quite...
  6. Not off hand. Cambell's said they would send me their list of gluten free products with a week. I will pass that on when I get it.
  7. Yes, you sound just like me. I get very shaky to the point that I can barely type. Hair loss is very common and muscle atrophy are both symptoms of malnutrition. Make sure that you take a good multi-vitamin. I have found the large does of B-12 seem to help with the shakes. Your body will take what it needs and dumps the rest. If you are not absorbing...
  8. Hey, don't forget about me. I am in Edenton (about two hours east of Raleigh). SouthernCeliacGirl, I am sorry that you did not feel welcome here or ignored. But that is not the first time that I have heard that. Try it again, perhaps it will be different. Tarheels are growing in numbers! Lisa

  11. Pace Salsa Con Queso is NOT Gluten Free and does not list wheat as one of the allergens...FYI
  12. Megan: Welcome to the Board. I am sorry that you are feeling ill. Many people here will not eat Quaker Rice Cakes due to cross-contamination and they have made many ill. Lumberg Rice Cakes are much better. Gluten can hide everywhere. Yoplait Yogurt is gluten free (except the ones with cookies and crumbs) The diet is very difficult in the beginning...
  13. Whey Powder is derived from milk and should be gluten free .
  14. Stefi: I don't really live in DC, but I used to. I am not familiar with the restaurant that you mentioned and it is not in the Gluten Free Dining Guide. I would recommend that you get some dining cards that are in several languages. It has always been a big help to me. I am sorry that I am not much help. Lisa
  15. I will leave this response to those parents with experience. But, I just wanted to say, that I have the utmost respect for parents with celiac children. It's such a responsibility, but oh how dedicated parents you all are.
  16. Carla: With this being such a slow day here, I thought that I would bring it up so others can appreciate this. It is one of the funniest things that I have ever seen.

ARCHIVED I Need A Good Allergist In Ca

    Sorry, I'm and easty.
  18. Cheers to you Karen..emotionally, but well said. Small advances are advances, but this was a BIG One. Relish in the glory. We alone can not bring celiac to this national level or recognition. We need to be grateful, not dissect it.
  19. Two years ago, I had never heard of Celiac Disease. I am now the recipient of this odd disease. I am in the on going process of healing my self. It is not an easy one to tackle and I still struggle. To hear it in the main stream media, we should all jump for joy. In a short two years, Heidi Collins of CNN has offered to be the voice for the Celiac...

Kraft Mayo will always list gluten. Hellman's and Dukes are also gluten free. Hellman's is my choice of flavor. PS..now silly questions here!
  21. B: You HAVE to go to Clyde's!!! They do not have a gluten free menu, but they are gluten free aware. Clyde's is an old romantic spot for us. Sitting in the window at Clyde's and watching the snow fall....well that snow amounted to 36 inches and he was marooned with me for three days. Well, we made the best of the worst times and stilll married to...
  22. I think that when recepies call for dredging it is because you may need some "crust" in order to make a gravey or sauce. I have found that gluten-free flour does not thicken as regular flour will. When I need to, I use corn starch to thicked. When flour is needed, I use Bob's Red Mill flour mix. I actually, see no need to dredge. A little olive...
  23. Hi Rob: As your mum to try "McCains Irish Steel Cut Oat" for her porridge" They are grown in dedicated field and not subject to cross-contamination. That should make her happy.
