Ann: If I may offer a question? Why is it that many doctors are so ill informed on Celiac when it goes 97% undiagnosed? Upon dx's by a GI, I was so unhappy with my PM Doctor, after 20 year, and chose another. He ran blood work on me after being gluten free for three months, which of course resulted in a neg. test. (I was confirmed by a biopsy...

ARCHIVED Can You Trust The gluten-free Label?
Lisa replied to emi-220's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If, in the US, the product says that it is gluten fee (roll it over and verify for yourself), it should be gluten free. If it says "Wheat Free", it will not be required to list barley, rye, malt and oats for some.(other gluten ingredients) Gluten free labels mean that it should be safe to consume. In other words: Gluten free - great Wheat Free... -
ARCHIVED Question About Symptoms
Lisa replied to maxdad's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Mitch: I can answer for myself and maybe others have similar issues. I tend to "graze" all day. I nibble here and there constantly all day. I do not eat big meals as it makes me feel uncomfortable. It seems to help me. Perhaps you have excess stomach acid that causes the nausea and the food intake settles you stomach. If your son has... -
ARCHIVED Help Against The Gerd! (reflux)
Lisa replied to allison's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
True.... an overuse of antacids can cause symptoms similar to being glutened with gas, bloating, cramping, nausea and the big rush to the bathroon with the big "D". -
Has anyone heard of Frey's Syndrome? It is the result of damage to the parotid gland (saliva) and the symptoms result in gustatory hyperhidrosis (perspiring while eating or shortly after). Could this be associated with Celiac or autoimmune diseases? I don't expect many replies, but I sure would like to hear from anyone who has ever heard of this...

You know, it is all just a mind game. There are stages in this deal: 1. Shock and Awl 2. Total confusion and feeling of helplessness 3. Study Stage - soaking everything possible 4. Overwhelming - feeling how impossible this must be 5. Confidence building - you can read labels now 6. Anger - because you can't have that fried...

There is a condition associated with autoimmune diseases call Raynaud's Syndrome. (not sure of the correct spelling) and it the numbing of feet, toes and finger tips. They get numb and cold and when the circulation begins again there is a burning feeling. Many people here on the forum suffer from this. I am sure that they will contribute soon.

I have been thinking about my post. It was totally emotional for me. I certainly did not mean to add to your bad day. If I did, I am truly sorry. It is tough beginning the diet, just ask the tons of people that I asked, asked and asked. I have been where you are. Please feel comfortable to ask any question that you have. Ask away with a product...

Empty nest and add a newly retired husband. Shut, we were both out of jobs. We were dealing with this loss, his on his own and me on my own. It will take some time and adjustment, but it will resolve as long as you talk to your spouse. Celiac, yes it's a major pain in the butt....and I can totally sympathize with our frustration. And, it's just plain...

A great find of me in down south podunk.......was Philly Cheese Cake Filling, ready to serve. We served this at Thanksgiving with homemade fresh cranberry sauce - leave the crust and serve in a clear cocktail glass. For those who miss cheese cake, this is a pretty good substitution...There can be alot of creativity with this product. I was glad to...

ARCHIVED Mainstream Gluten Free Beer!
Lisa replied to Guhlia's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
There was some discussion here many months ago. Obviously, it generated great excitement. I never liked beer before my dx (lucky me) so did not pay too much attention. I do hope so for all those that miss it. -
ARCHIVED Alcohol
Lisa replied to hannahsue01's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Maker's Mark is gluten free. All distilled liquors are gluten free. The distilling process removed the gluten out of the liquor. Kaluah is gluten free. Crown should be fine. I drink Seagrams 7 with no problem. Virginia Gentleman Whiskey is double distilled. Flavored drinks, I don't know anything about, and would be cautious. Wine is gluten free... -
ARCHIVED Had My Gastroscopy Today
Lisa replied to Michi8's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Michele: This is a holiday weekend in the US, so most are away from the computer. I did the endoscopy and my GI saw flattening of the villi and my biopsy was consistant with Celiac. Not the same as your case. Lisa -
ARCHIVED Lucerne Light "holiday" Eggnog
Lisa replied to adam2008's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
If there is any wheat it will be listed by law, but they do not have to list barley, malt, or rye. I would expect that the later would not be in the ingrediences.
