  1. Refractory Sprue is diagnosed when strict compliance to the diet, over an extended period of time, indicates continued villious atrophy. It is non-responsive to the gluten free diet.
  2. Be safe Janet! It's crazy out there!
  3. I've been watch the weather all day, hoping family and friends were/are safe from these tornadoes. Hope all of you in the path are safe and continue to be safe. And prayers for those who are. Here is a CNN clip: Open Original Shared Link
  4. Thanks Babs - I want to plan a trip to Rome sometime this summer or in the fall with some galpals.
  5. I would find a new doctor. Or perhaps she meant that there is no test for gluten sensitivity, which is correct. There are the test to be ordered, but you should be on a full diet of gluten to insure accuracy: The following are the celiac specific blood tests: Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgA Anti-Gliadin (AGA) IgG Anti-Endomysial (EMA) IgA Anti...
  6. Okay...a quick search found this (although a BLOG)and not substantiated fact. Open Original Shared Link ....but not must to do with men-o-pause.
  7. Without documentation (or don't have the time now to look it up) I have learned that cows milk may be the cause of ultra-early development in young girls. I offer Organic to my granddaughter.

    ARCHIVED Tea - Super Sen.

Does the Hy Top Tea have gluten in it?
  10. Welcome! We have lots of parents with children with Celiac. It IS a road that can be successfully traveled. But, be comforted in the diagnosis....no drugs, no surgery. It just a change in diet. ..they will respond soon.
  11. Check the Google search here.... up there ^ ...lots of information available.
  12. Please make sure that you keep a food journal - write down everything that he eats and make certain that everything is gluten free. Take him off of all dairy products for four weeks. Make sure what he eats at school is not causing him problems. You have made progress, but something is holding him back. Has your doctor said that your son has Celiac...
  13. I think "Celiac" is a very new term. If you crawl back a generation, you might find first degree relatives with tummy problems, gas, diabetes, cancers, colon issues, osteoporosis, diabetes. Certainly, not all diseases stem from Celiac. Not by all means. But, some may have been a contributing factor as a side effect of Celiac.
  14. I took it and would encourage others too. It jumped for #10 to #68 or so. Hope I didn't miss the middle questions.
  15. Maybe it's a psychological response to her hands hurting in general. ...just guessing.
  16. Certainly Vaseline does not contain gluten, but perhaps the application process gave her some discomfort, on that particular evening.
  17. O.M.G! Who are these guys? This is great!
  18. Here is an excellent article, in my opinion: Open Original Shared Link Confusing the picture further are private labs that offer tests of stool or saliva that they say can definitively diagnose gluten sensitivity. Experts say that such tests haven't been validated and shouldn't be relied on for a diagnosis. "If anyone claims they have a test that is...
  19. Are your probiotics dairy free? If you have Celiac, it might take several months to heal. Continue on a gluten free diet and after some months if you still have unresolved issues, address other intolerance. One month in not much time to draw conclusions. Eat clean and simply.
  20. If you are fairly new to the gluten free diet, this is a large order list. I would continue to eat whole foods and add one product at at time.
  21. It's always in California. I'm and eastcoaster. But, I have seen the itinerary and it sounds very interesting.
  22. Well, I think our meeting pre-dated a lot of things, one included the GREAT THUMB DEBATE. But....perhaps it did not preclude my glimpse at your "large" hands tightly wrapped around... that coffee cup. Brother is still in Shanghai, soon to return stateside. How's life in CA?
  23. I use Mary Kay lipsticks, but not sure all MK are gluten free. Contact a representative for confirmation.
  24. I'm not familiar with that restaurant. Would it be possible to have a server mix you up a fresh salad in the back. Rather one that everyone has had their hands in. You can explain your food intolerance to the manager and maybe they could be a bit accommodating. Or call before the rush starts and say you are coming in with a large party. Could he...
