  1. Do you get all over tingling? Do you have inflammation that may be compressing nerves in that area? When my knee swells I get tingling down my leg because I think my nerves are compressed. I hate it so much. I find if I eat too many sweets (had a prune binge over a couple of days) and noticed an eye twitch during this time. I am staying away from fruit all...
  2. It has been years since I truly experienced it and once I remotely feel any tightening I really go hardcore on my diet. I remember always yawning and almost gasping (slight exaggerated but not sure of another word for it) for breath. I was checked for asthma, my heart and then given a prescription for anxiety. My dr said I was too young to have arthritis...
  3. I have Psoriatic Arthritis and had the worst inflammation. DMARDS and Celebrex didn't work for me and I didn't want to try biologics so this is when I started diet change. I completely stay away from gluten as it makes my hair fall out and it took forever to figure out the foods that bother my system. Tomatoes cause my knee to get very swollen and sore within...
  4. I had this for years. At first it was diagnosed as anxiety and then arthritis. It isn't comfortable, I thought I was having a heart attack or something when it first started up. For years I just lived with it. I haven't been diagnosed with Celiac but after going on an elimination diet and finding I don't do well with dairy, gluten, tomatoes, potatoes, high...
  5. Oh, about five years ago I had the jaw thing. Not sure if it's the same as you. I had intense swelling and pain where I could hardly open my mouth anymore. My dentist suggested that I pry it as far as I could holding for 30 seconds, many times a day (you could use a cork to hold your mouth open). The next suggestion was the TENS machine. It took months before...
  6. I crack, crinkle and twitch. It is totally diet related for me and I know I am way off when I get my eye twitch. This is rare though. Even when my diet is perfect I think I still have damage from years of undiagnosis that there is a bit of damage so there will always be some cracking but no pain. I had some tomato three weeks ago and now I have a swollen...
  7. I also have to be extremely careful with what I eat. Even something like too much fruit, cabbage, or brussel sprouts sends my body in a tail spin. I noticed a big difference going gluten free/elimination diet within four days. It helped me more than my DMARD/Celebrex combo ever did. Unfortunately, gluten free wasn't enough for me. I have to be dairy, soy...
  8. Well, I am only half way through reading this thread but finally, a place where I belong! I found out about histamine foods approx six months ago but never this condition. Thanks for the link. Last week, I guess because of the holidays, I started to itch again so I cut I went low histamine and it's gone. I was always sensitive to so much - sounds (especially...
  9. Here is an interesting article I came across in regards to lectins and autoimmunity. I pretty much follow a very low lectin diet. Open Original Shared Link
  10. I had to google further and found there is something called psoriatic nail disease? Just some info. for you.
  11. I have psoriasis and psoriatic arthritis - it is a pretty common condition for these two. Not sure if it is related to you but with autoimmune disease - who knows. I am gluten free and did an elimination diet and it cleared for a good year. I started introducing too much of something (not gluten) and notice that my pinky nail is now separating a little from...
  12. Two years later, I am still working on my diet. Right now I am strictly eliminating night shades as I also deal with joint pain and inflammation. The inflammation is pretty much all gone but I still deal with a little joint tightness and am willing to work my butt off to figure this all out. Definitely tomatoes mess me up but they are my "drug" as I keep...
  13. I had the yellowing of the skin just before I eliminated a lot of foods from my diet. My skin "pinked" up four months into my elimination diet, a slack elimination diet at that. I also get the same rosacea that surrounds my eyes when I break too far from my diet which rarely happens now as I learn my body and my intolerances. For cleansing my skin I use Dr...
  14. I just read the article posted above. I forgot about gut health. Read up on that too. I also used digestive enzymes and bitters.
  15. I wish I knew of this years ago! You're daughter is lucky you are looking out for her. When I first tried an elimination diet my body was rejecting my medications and I had extreme fatigue - sleeping 12-14 hours a day, extreme joint pain where if I sat for 15 minutes my body joints would seize up and it was painful to move them, my feet and fingers were so...
  16. That is how mine started. I also test negative for RA and because I psoriasis I got labelled with Psoriatic Arthritis. Gluten free helps but isn't what got rid of all my pain. I had to do a strict elimination diet. This got me off of my DMARD and Celebrex easily within 10 days. I felt better trying an elimination diet than with what any medication did for...
  17. I had that happen and found that it was pea protein that caused it for me. It is so confusing at first because I am sure that I had gluten or too much dairy or a stomach bug and never suspected much else. Because I had to limit my diet so much it took me about four encounters to figure out it was the pea protein that is added to some gluten free products...
  18. I would definitely do an elimination diet and document everything! Yes, nightshades are crazy. I have arthritis too (psoriatic) and was on sulfasalazine but started to react to it and that is when I went the natural route. It helps better than any medication. Nightshades are a funny thing for me. I can have baked russet potatoes and Lay's Original chips but...
  19. Although I don't have anxiety I do get very angry when I have too many carbohydrates. I keep my carb intake very low and this helps my mood issues. My two sons have the same issue. A really good book is called The Mood Cure by Julia Ross. She deals with many mood issues and what supplements can help along with diet. It has been very helpful in getting my...
  20. When I first went gluten free I lost 20 lbs within a few weeks and was "skeletal" and "sick looking" as people told me but I felt great. Marksdailyapple is a great site to go to. Good, clean protein is essential so you don't lose too much muscle mass. I would also second researching nutrient deficiencies this aided me greatly in recovering. I am back to...
  21. I get pain when I have dairy although I can have heavy whipped cream with my coffee (no additives just cream, I use Organic Meadows). But if I have milk with my coffee I get extreme upper neck pain and a foul mood. My son gets neck pain from dairy too. My knee only swells from fresh tomatoes. This food journey is just so bizarre.
  22. How about a pesto sauce with your noodles - basil, garlic, olive oil, pine nuts and S&P? Very occasionally I have some tomato sauce but I'm not good with nightshades so this will happen once every two months or so. How about sauteing some onion and garlic in coconut oil and adding cumin, coriander seeds (crushed), turmeric and then add your noodles? This...
  23. I have a more difficult time when I get off track. It's like my mind gets disorganized and I can't get it together. When I am on track it's fine. For tacos, I season my meat with cumin, oregano and garlic. I add guacamole (lime, avocado, cumin, garlic powder) and I don't miss the tomatoes. Noodles I use butter or olive oil with garlic and occasionally add...
  24. In the beginning, I had it in all of my fingers. It took me about one year to be able to fully close my hand and make a fist. Now it only happens with my index fingers when I get off track. Keep a food journal too so you can track everything. Isn't it a weird relief to come across others who are experiencing the same symptoms.
  25. At times, yes. I make sure I restrict my diet intensely. It usually clears by day 5. For me, it elimination of all gluten, legumes, dairy, soy, caffeine, nightshades, citrus (except lemon and lime). Then I slowly reintroduce, except gluten, peanuts, oranges and soy, and eat the rest sparingly. These are my foods that seem to trigger it. It took a lot of playing...
