  1. No such cereal here in the Great White North. We can't get any gluten-free mainstream cereal. Only stuff from the health food store.
  2. Thanks, Chelsea. It's dry and not too hot yet. So into the oven they go.
  3. The recipe says the dough can keep for 3 days in the fridge, but says nothing about chilling the dough before baking. Usually my cookies spread out something fierce so I always chill the dough first. Has anyone had these cookies end up looking like cookies w/o chilling the dough first? I'm off to start the dough and I'll check back later. If no one has...
  4. I also think we should be working on Kellogg's and other companies to get malt extract out of Rice Krispie and Corn Flakes cereals. There is no reason why corn/rice based cereals need to have malt. Get an artificial malt for crying out loud.
  5. Yes, you need 500 posts. I kept looking for this space people were mentioning and it was never there until I hit 500.

  7. The most interesting thing I witnessed, was a kid on Ty's soccer team. He was only 7 but HUGE! He was the biggest kid on Walker's hockey team also. Anyway, this kid being so big could get across the soccer field in no time. The soccer fields are scaled down for the Under-8 crowd. I think they have 3 fields going across the width of a regular field, but I...
  8. Find a friend who's good with Photoshop. Maybe you can be picking something up off the surface of the moon or the beach or something. Meanwhile, school's started and I miss the fellas. Then they get home and start fighting with each other and I wish they were back at school. It's a vicious cycle. Don't get me wrong, I love them dearly when they are in...
  9. Nini, I've always heard that it was 1/49th of a slice of bread needed to cause an auto-immune reaction that affects villi. I know that some people are very sensitive, and I'm wondering where I can read about the one molecule info. Ty has no outward symptoms, and I'm a lot more concerned about cc than his dad is. Dad is very careful preparing food, but...
  10. I had two hospital births, first with entinox(sp?) and morphine...they didn't help. I'm not a hero...I fully admit I asked for drugs. I had terrible back labour but thankfully the whole transaction from starting labour to meeting the baby was only four hours. I did have to push for an hour to get him out. I always say that "Walker came out punching and we...
  11. Not a teenager, nor are my kids yet...but I wanted to throw out Taco Salad as an offering. My non-gluten-free son takes it all the time. Taco chips, lettuce, sour cream, grated cheese and tomatoes in a tupperware thing and then taco meat in a thermos. The first time he tried to put the salad in the thermos . Now he knows better and puts the meat in the tupperware...
  12. Wow Chelsea! You're quick. We don't have half those brands in Canada which is why I was trying to limit the suggestion list to just a few items. I don't want the parents to feel bad if they send something Ty can't have and so the suggestions I'd made were for easy to find nut-free/gluten-free treats. Thanks for the link though, I'll probably modify it and...
  13. That's terrific news. I'm so glad she's maintaining her weight. The important thing is she's not losing any more weight. I'm sure it will start coming on slowly but surely. My son has been on the gluten-free diet for a year and while he gained 6lbs in the first 8 months hasn't gained any since, he's getting taller though. He's almost 7 and only 39lbs. Good...
  14. I'm trying to draft a letter to the parents of the kids in Ty's class to ask that they call me before they send treats in for birthdays/Valentine's etc. Here's what I have so far. I'm just looking for other treats I may have left off the list, or if the list is wrong I'd like to know that too. All the treats listed should also be peanut free because the school...
  15. Koala Crisp. Too bad they don't sell singles of Koala Crisp. It's the only one of the three my son likes. I have to admit, I usually avoid the cereal aisle as Costco since there's nothing there for him. Maybe I'll check next time.
  16. I saw it on the website. $18.95US for 10 cards. Open Original Shared Link It's called the Gold Value pack.
  17. Here's another link for you to check out. Open Original Shared Link
  18. I was three weeks early (2nd born of twins - twins are often premature). I do not have celiac (yet?). My older son was 9 days late, 8lbs 2oz 21" - he's not celiac (yet?). My celiac son is my younger son. He was 5 days early, 7lbs 2oz 21". He would probably have weighed a bit more, but I was on a gestational diabetes diet for about six weeks before they...
  19. Thanks Shirley! Next time we head up there we'll try to check it out.
  20. What! Where? Next time we go up we might have to check it out. A BP near us let us bring in take out from the Mongolie Grill next door when we had a hockey party last Christmas.
  21. I've never tried it - and I'm not sure exactly how she does it but my MIL's friend uses polenta instead of noodles in lasagne.
  22. Carrie, I LOVE your new avatar! I didn't know your wedding was so soon. I thought it was farther in the future. My 8.5 year old son is reading Anne of Green Gables right now. I convinced him to read it. I said that the book was really really good, but he might get a bit hung up on the writing style because it's sixty years old and the story took place...
  23. A real Alfredo sauce has no flour. Use 1 cup heavy cream, 1/4 cup butter and simmer until thickened and reduced by about half. Add a dash of nutmeg and freshly ground black pepper to taste. Toss with your noodles and top with freshly grated parmesan. It's delish!
  24. We call it a special diet. Restrictions sound so limiting. Of course Ty's only six, so we use special diet to make him feel special not left out.
