I am so sorry you are not feeling well. I think that you are being a little hard on yourself (I can judge, I do this all the time). You are not a bad mum. You are human and going through a rough spot. You will get better! Hez

ARCHIVED Are Flintstone Sour Gummie Vitamins Gluten-free?
hez replied to Ashley's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I cut and pasted this from the FAQ's portion of the website. Hez Do your Flintstones formulas contain gluten? We do not add gluten to any of our products, however we cannot guarantee that they are 100% gluten-free due to the fact that raw materials we receive from outside vendors are not certified as 100% gluten-free. -
ARCHIVED Bette Hagman's 84th Bday
hez replied to queenofhearts's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I had heard she passed away Glad to see that rumor was wrong! Hez -
I loved this place Open Original Shared Link! I could not get over how large the gluten-free menu is. I am used to the gluten-free menu being a handful of items. This place was amazing! We had gluten-free garlic cheese bread for an appetizer, delicious. I then had a tomato cream and sausage gluten-free pasta dish. So good! I only wish I lived closer...

Tiffany- Who do you use for your onlilne shopping? Hez -
I ate there for the first time the other day and had a great experience. I spoke to the manager before I ordered and went through the ingredients. I ended up with a bowl with rice, black beans and chicken. I skipped the lettuce, cheese, salsa area because I thought cc would be too high. I will go again. Just not anytime soon. I try to limit how often...

ARCHIVED Cherries Possibly Coated With Something Containing Gluten?
hez replied to eleep's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I have heard (do not know from experience) that eating ALOT of cherries at one time can cause "d". Could be an old wives tale! Hez -
ARCHIVED I Want A Rice Crispy Treat Real Bad
hez replied to lightningfoot speakin words's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use the recipe for the gluten version (can get it from the Kelloggs webstie) just sub your gluten-free cereal. I use Kraft stay puff marshmellows! Enjoy your treat Hez -
ARCHIVED Period-making Things Worse?
hez replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I can only speak from my experience. I do not/did not have dizzy spells. I always had "d". I notice around my menstrual cycle I still get loose bowels or even "d". For the longest time I kept thinking I had been glutened. After talking to girlfriends and my doc I think the weird bowel stuff is hormonal. So maybe some of the systems are made worse from... -
ARCHIVED Cinnamon Gum
hez replied to LyndaK's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My gluten-free product list for Denver has all denteyne, trident and big red as gluten-free. You still should read the label my list is about a year old. Hez -
ARCHIVED Are Shasta Soda Pops gluten-free?
hez replied to Esther Sparhawk's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I have never tried Shasta products, sorry. There are quite a few root beers that are gluten-free (A&W, Hires, IBC, Mug) so not all root beers are made from barley. Hez -
ARCHIVED Advil
hez replied to CanadianGal's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know in the US regular Advil is gluten-free (I use it). However, I do not know about the sinus and cold formulas. Sorry. Hez -
ARCHIVED Rice Krispies?
hez replied to amber-rose's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications

ARCHIVED Rice Krispies?
hez replied to amber-rose's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
No. Sorry but rice krispies have malt in them. Malt=gluten. You can easily make your own treats by using a gluten-free rice crisp cereal (there are several brands, I cannot think of the name) and kraft marshmellows. Very yummy Hez -
I would think the wine would be safe IF it is just wine and not some flavored sugary thing AND if no one inticited (dipped) their bread into the wine cup. I use a plain rice cracker for my communion. The priest has it up at the altar with the other hosts. I have a sepearate plate (there is some technical name for it but I cannot remember) so there is not...

ARCHIVED Anybody Got A Good Fajita Marinade Recipe?
hez replied to penguin's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I really like this recipe. I have left out the orange and added more limes. This is a great place to start and add your own personal touches! Hez 1 orange, juiced 2 limes, juiced 3 tbsp oil 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 jalapeno, seeded and minced 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, finely chopped 1 tsp cumin 1 tsp salt -
ARCHIVED Delimex Foods
hez replied to Lisa's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I get the taquitos from Sam's all the time. It seems like the chicken ones used soy sauce (wheat) but the beef ones did not. I just look at the bar code and compare to the sheet. I am sure I look silly but it is worth it! Hez -
If I remember correctly Lea and Perrins is not gluten-free in Canada? It is gluten-free in the US. Hez

ARCHIVED Alcoholic Beverages?
hez replied to katrinamaria's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know Bicaridi rums are safe, DiSorrono (sp?, amaretto), Makers Mark whiskey, Jose Cuervo. My mind is drawing a blank. What is your favorite alcohol? Go from there, and find out if it is safe. The distilation process does not allow the gluten particles to pass through. Which is why quite a few alcohols are safe. Hez -
Sometimes I think my dx is karma bitting me in the a**! I was never very understanding of people with food allergies. I had the mentality that society should not cater to those who had issues (like resturants). Now that I am walking in my shoes I realize how self centered and insensitive I was I am more aware of others needs and more understanding of...

You might want to have your thyroid levels checked. I am on synthroid (do not have a thyroid due to cancer) and if I have too little medication I am tired. Just a thought? Hez

ARCHIVED Getting Impatient With Improvements...
hez replied to jabberwife's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
It took a good 6 months for the "d" to go away and have normal bm. I stopped drinking milk during that time because it made me sick. I have been gluten-free for over a year and I can drink milk again without any problems. I think my villi just needed to heal. It really did seem to take a long time for me to feel better. Hez -
I have been gluten-free for over a year and my glutened symptoms seemed to have changed over time. I used to get sick within a couple of hours. Would stay sick with "d" and fatigue for about a month. Last time I got glutened the reaction was very different. It came on very gradually so I have no idea where I got sick (although I have an idea). I had...
