I would invest in a five day cooler like this: Open Original Shared Link Yeah, it is bigger, but it has more insulation. Prepare ice blocks from 1/2 or 1 gallon milk or juice jugs and add with ice from the hotel. The cubed ice will last longer. Take a smaller cooler to carry out to the games. Park in the shade. I drag my cooler into the...

ARCHIVED Still trying to process-*DUPLICATE*

I am not a doctor, but I would think that she is not IgA deficient. But discuss it with a professional who wears a white coat to set your mind at ease. -
ARCHIVED Still trying to process
cyclinglady replied to Jules22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I know. It is a lot to process, but it is doable. You ALL will have the rest of the summer to research and learn about the gluten free diet and learning how to avoid cross contamination. Planning and being prepared always will make it much easier. Your daughter will so much better in school if she is feeling well. -
ARCHIVED Hypothyroidism and Celiac
cyclinglady replied to a topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
You are correct in that other issues that could raise the TTG. I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis which is hypothyroidism that is due to autoimmune (like celiac disease). I personally have never had a positive on a TTG test. If my Doctor had not ordered the entire panel, my diagnosis would have never been caught. You could ask for the rest of the panel... -

The first test, Calrotectin, is useful for diagnosing Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD). Since your colonoscopy was fine (if I recall), I suppose Ulcerative colitis (one form of IBD) has been ruled out, but that leaves Crohn's. I could have sworn my niece had celiac disease. Finally, her 4th GI ordered a pill camera. Found the Crohn's damage at... -
ARCHIVED Levothyroxine question
cyclinglady replied to Victoria1234's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
To determine Hashi's or Graves, you need to have your thyroid antibodies tested. Over four years past menopause and I STILL get hot flashes. ? Had one exactly when the nurse was taking my temperature at the start of an office visit. Hit 101.4, if I recall. The nurse was amazed. Within minutes, my temp was normal. Did I mention he was male? Told... -

The IgA test, when used for celiac testing, just validates the celiac IgA type results. Your daughter is just below range, but her celiac test result is valid -- positive. Read more about an IgA deficiency which should be discussed with your doctor. Many IGA deficient people have no symptoms at all, so do not be alarmed. Open Original Shared... -
ARCHIVED Levothyroxine question
cyclinglady replied to Victoria1234's topic in Related Issues & Disorders
I have been on thyroid replacement for 20 years. My doctor initially gave me a tiny dose in hopes that my thyroid would not burn out from Hashi's. That did not work. My thyroid has since burned out. I have taken thyroid replacement prior to bedtime, alternating doses throughout the week, splitting the dosage daily -- all under my doctor's care. I must... -
ARCHIVED Positive gliadin is now normal
cyclinglady replied to Runningmomma's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think your doctor was wise to order an endoscopy. My antibody result (only the DGP) was elevated at the time of my diagnosis with a Marsh Stage IIIB (biopsy moderate to severe). I have had two good glutenings (unknown source) since then and my antibodies have gone off the chart. So, I am assuming antibodies, like my symptoms, can vary). This is a perplexing... -
ARCHIVED Question About Gliadin Iga Result
cyclinglady replied to Galixie's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
One hive? My guess would be a bug bite. The itching without a rash can be related to celiac disease. I just had anemia when I was diagnosed. Turns out I had other symptoms that I chocked up to getting old. One was itching on my arms near my elbows. Took about a year for that to resolve on the gluten free diet. It re-appeared after a good glutening... -

I am glad that the iron seems to be helping, but I would not advise going over the daily recommendations unless you know your ferritin level. You can over dose on iron. Open Original Shared Link -
ARCHIVED Pc Free From Hot Dogs
cyclinglady replied to Abungay's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
Hey, I checked the website. (You could not PAY me to eat a hot dog because they come right back up....allergy thing -- not celiac disease). Anyway, it says "may contain wheat and soy". This product is NOT safe for celiacs! Open Original Shared Link -

cyclinglady replied to kam00096's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
You might have had one exposure with the barley and then got zapped by eating out. This behavior could encourage your antibodies to start building. When do they stop? Everyone is different, but mine (as measured by my GI) last for months! For now, stop eating out. Read all labels and stick with easy-to-digest foods (processed as little as possible... -

ARCHIVED Previously symptomatic undiagnosed child now asymptomatic?
cyclinglady replied to flightgoddess's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Celiac symptoms can wax and wane. It is rarely consistent. Small children often test negative to the TTG. Do you know if she had the DGP or EMA antibodies tests? You might want to consider a challenge now and get that official diagnosis since she is five and she should be making antibodies now. She will be starting school and I can tell you...- 4 replies

ARCHIVED Thyroid/Celiac complications?

Oversight on my part, but they tested TAB which is thyroid antibodies and that was negative on 2/23. Why are the rest of the dates N/A for TAB?. Were they not measured then, or you did not order it? ARCHIVED Only Day 7 of Gluten Free
cyclinglady replied to MrsPeterson17's topic in Post Diagnosis, Recovery & Treatment of Celiac Disease
Eat. You are most likely deficient in something and your body want it. Just reach for nourishing food instead of junk to help with healing. You can ask your doctor to check for deficiencies. Sometimes supplementation is need for a while. Welcome to the forum! -

Enjoy your trip and worry about the diet until after you get back unless you are having severe symptoms. Then follow Ennis' advice about gluten-free restaurant cards in various languages. Lots of us have traveled successfully. You just need to prepare a bit more. In the meantime, savor your gluten-filled food until your endoscopy. My advice (anemia... -
ARCHIVED Type 1 daughter with positive blood test
cyclinglady replied to Jules22's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
Hi Jules! I think Gemini missed this, but your daughter did have her IgA tested. It is slightly below range, but in the case of celiac testing, confirms that the TTG is positive. Keep her in a gluten diet until all testing is complete (all celiac tests, blood or biopsy, require a patient to be on a gluten free diet). In the meantime, study... -

My bottle of Neurogena Dry Touch 55 does not show any gluten. It is not certified gluten free, but I do not eat it. I always wash my hands well after applying anyway, because I do not like ingesting chemicals. I can not help you with a cheaper price (google it), but if you have celiac disease, I would make sure the alternative gluten free flours are not milled with gluten flours by calling the manufacturer. I personally make sure that my gluten-free flours are certified gluten free. I do not worry about a can of tomatoes. Odds are the contents are just tomatoes... -

cyclinglady replied to Liziana's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
I think that your villi are intact. So, normally that would mean no evidence of celiac disease. But Victoria is right, that they should have run a celiac blood panel to help rule out celiac disease. Why? The small intestine is vast. If spread out, it is larger than a tennis court! The biopsies may not have captured the damaged areas. Consider asking... -
ARCHIVED Hypothyroidism and Celiac

Yes, it is the same test. When used in conjunction with celiac testing, it verifies that the celiac IgA test results are valid. Used alone (not running the celiac tests), if the Immunoglobulin A result is above or below range....then you are dealing with another set of problems. For example, my result was above range. This can be attributed to my having...
