  1. Who is your insurance carrier? Just curious. My docs here in CA are all computerized. That looks like a prescription (Rx) and not a lab order. No codes, etc. is your allergist an M.D?
  2. I do all that stuff (pet food, a lot of make up, shampoo). My house is gluten free (hubby and I both have issues with gluten....go figure! ?) It does not make me housebound! Gee, your wife could be glutening you just by kissing! Nine years. I would do the endoscopy for that reason alone (am holding out for five years). The blood tests are not...
  3. He obviously does know that celiac disease can develop at anytime. Only he can decide if he wants to remain on a gluten diet and continue to get testing or go gluten free to see if his symptoms improve. My hubby went Gluten Free per the rather poor advice (should have ruled out celiac disease first) of his GP and my allergist. Funny thing is that...
  4. Do not panic, but call your GYN to discuss or schedule an appointment. We are not doctors here, but we can offer you lots of emotional support because we know that celiac disease and anxiety are linked!
  5. The TTG IgA, but.......I think you need to call your insurance. The genetic test would be considered experimental (maybe because it can not determine a celiac disease diagnosis) over the celiac blood panel which is recognized world-wide. Did you actually talk to the insurance company or are you dealing with your allergist? Something is not right...
  6. This is tricky. A mild positive on the TTG IgG?...... but it is positive. The next step would be to have an endoscopy taking plenty of biopsies, but since he already had it done (recently ??), perhaps trialing the gluten-free diet might be in order. He may have Non-celiac gluten Intolerance or the start of celiac disease. He should continue to get tested...
  7. Like Ennis said, we are all different in how we display celiac disease symptoms. No wonder it is often hard to diagnose! There are over 300 symptoms linked to celiac disease. Open Original Shared Link
  8. Welcome to the forum! Ah, the original posting is a few years old. No wonder the link is no longer active. ☹️ Why would you even eat this stuff! (Just curious.....)
  9. The genetic test does NOT diagnose celiac disease! Why? Over 30% of the population carries the genes that may develop into celiac disease (tiny amount). That is a lot of people!!!! It is used to help exclude celiac disease. learn more about celiac disease testing: Open Original Shared Link Having one autoimmune disorder makes you susceptible...
  10. Well, two weeks of diarrhea could be a bug if some sort (virus, bacteria, parasite, etc.), but it does not address the other symptoms that have been around for a year. Taking meds just to cover symptoms is not good either in my non-medical opinion. A follow-up endoscopy might be a good idea. Check out the villa too! My niece was recently diagnosed...
  11. Welcome. Ah.....the test probably did not work. You need to be consuming gluten daily 8 to 12 weeks prior to the blood test and about 2 to 4 for the endoscopy. Antibodies in the blood can drop as fast as two weeks. They can take time to rebuild too. You really need ranges too. Lab ranges vary, so we can tell if the result is positive or not. See...
  12. Have other autoimmune disorders been ruled out? Like Crohn's? Unfortunately, you can have more than one AI issue.
  13. Lab ranges can vary. Can you provide those?
  14. Whew! I am glad it worked out. ?
  15. Glad to hear about the improvement! ?
  16. Just describe your symptoms of being thirsty and having to get up in the night to use the restroom. You have been advised to get a glucose check. It is as easy as getting your temperature taken. Often they'll do a skin prick and test on a little monitor or they can do a blood draw and send it out (it has been a long time since I have been in a student...
  17. Great catch, Gemini! TYpe 1 diabetes and celiac disease are genetically linked. Kathleen should get her blood sugar checked out even if it is at the student health center (might be faster than getting into her doctor.).
  18. My hubby went Gluten Free per the poor advice from my allergist and his GP 15 years ago! Four years ago, I was diagnosed with celiac disease. Does he have celiac disease or not? We will never know. He is not going to do a challenge. We kind of like paying our bills and eating! We know gluten makes him sick. I get needing to know for sure about...
  19. Who knows if you were cross contaminated or not? It can take a long time for antibodies to come down and you are newly diagnosed. But you will feel better. Just focus on one day at a time. Get some rest. Then eat well and keep on studying! You will be fine! Hugs! ?
  20. I can tell you that personally only my DGP IgA was positive on the complete panel: IgG and IgA versions of the TTG, DGP and EMA (this one just IgA was ordered). My biopsies revealed moderate to severe intestinal damage. Anemia was my only symtptom at the time and it resolved in the gluten free diet. Even in follow-up testing, I still test positive to...
  21. When was the last time you had a celiac disease antibodies check? Deficiencies check? This will help rule out active celiac disease. I have diabetes. I am thin and exercise. But it seems to have a genetic component as it runs in families. Cutting down on carbs and eating to my meter (experimented and tested heavily in the early days) for the last...
  22. What??????? You should seriously consider a new GI! You do NOT need to have a positive on every single celiac disease test -- just one. He used the most common and standard test the TTG IgA and it was positive! See this celiac disease diagnostic alogrithm from the Mayo Clinic for yourself (do not look at the ranges since these do not match your lab ranges...
  23. This has study contains a table with the list of foods: Open Original Shared Link I think the diet is trying to avoid all processed foods. I have no idea why Gatoraid is on the list! There must be a reason that some foods are not included. You would think that garlic, fresh should be fine. Same goes for unshelled peanuts. Ground meats you...
  24. Denial. Yep, I have been there. My GI suggested celiac disease during a colonoscopy consult (hey, all my friends were getting their 50+ colonoscopies and I did not want to be left out!). My only symptom was anemia which I had all my life and was blamed on heavy periods (not really) and Thalassemia (a genetic anemia). I told my GI that there was no way...
