  1. I forgot to wish your DH good luck!
  2. Personally, I would not disclose that I have celiac disease. It has no impact on my ability to do a job. Let's face it, people hire based on personal preferences (looks, ability to fit in with the team, etc) no matter what company policies are. It would be great if an HR rep could chime in. HR laws change constantly and I do not keep up as we are self...
  3. Welcome to the forum! I would recommend getting a copy of your lab test results. Labs have different ranges, so your result can not be interpreted without it. Based on what you posted, it might be positive if your doctor is scheduling an endoscopy. The University of Chicago's celiac website is a good resource regarding testing. I wish you well.
  4. I assume that you have completely ruled out DH (celiac rash)? Celiac disease can evolve and manifest in so many ways. Are you sure you are not getting exposed to gluten (new meds, etc?) I hope you can figure it out!
  5. Sounds like you have it down. I like the idea of preparing meals in advance. I do this while camping or traveling in our RV. Makes my vacation more enjoyable. I am currently vacationing with my extended family at the lake. I have a bin of cooking pots and pans, utensils, parchment paper and foil. I use toaster bags (Amazon) so we do not have to buy...
  6. Reducing symptoms from eliminating gluten? Hard to say since everyone heals differently. Personally, I felt better in six weeks (anemia was my main symptom but I ate gluten like crazy for seven weeks between my blood test and endoscopy which triggered gut issues). It took two years for me to feel really well, but I am old! I would imagine your daughter...
  7. What Karen said is true. I would add that if your kids are old enough (and school is out) let them help you as much as possible. Plus, think about lowering your standards for a while. Just let things go! Soon you will be back to normal!
  8. So happy for you!
  9. My TTg tests were negative. Only one, the DGP iga was positive! Biopsies revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe damage). Thank goodness my Celiac savvy GI ordered the complete panel. Our PCP ran the entire panel for my kid which was negative in all tests and she is symptom free. He ran the full test because of my wacky results! My mom's insurance...
  10. Happy for you, but what exactly was the diagnosis that your ONT was treating you for? It sounds like celiac disease was ruled out?
  11. Get the celiac testing done ASAP. I would consider going back on gluten. Do the research to confirm what we all have said. That gallbladder? Most likely linked to celiac disease. Mine was removed because it was not functioning. It is a family curse -- just like Celiac Disease! Your liver should improve on a gluten-free diet, but an official diagnosis...
  12. My DGP Iga was the ONLY one above range on my complete panel! Guess what? My biopsies revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe intestinal damage). My main symptom was anemia with really no intestinal issues (at least that stood out, but later found that I was constipated even though I had a BM daily). My new doctor did say that it was weird...
  13. Congrats! My fasting has not been that low since my diagnosis and I began tracking. I have been happy with a 5! I confess that my carbs are still probably too high. I eat too many veggies! Oh, well!
  14. Yes, should be gluten free. Just read the ingrediants label ALWAYS! It seems that Aldi's has jumped on the gluten-free bandwagon, like Trader Joes's. I believe in new labeling laws in the US is changing this. But no time to discuss....I have to go!
  15. No Aldi's here, but do you mean a product like yogurt that is gluten free normally? Or a can of green beans? Can you provide examples?
  16. Healing time? Can not say since everyone is different depending on the extent of their damage and the gluten-free diet learning curve. Maybe months for a young person and more for an older person. Patience is hard even when you are old! It appears that celiac disease and type 1 diabetes are linked genetically. If I recall, about 10% of type...
  17. Good to hear from you! Start sautéing those greens with some bacon (good source of folate)! I eat them for breakfast. Plus, they can often be absorbed better by the body than supplements (my opinion!)
  18. It took just a month or two to get my levels up enough to be able to breathe easily. Six months after my diagnosis, my ferrtin levels were a 55 and I stopped iron supplements. I think I recovered quickly since I already knew the gluten-free drill (hubby gluten-free for 14 years) -- so, not to many glutening mistakes! I still think your doctor needs...
  19. Welcome to the forum! Be sure to read the Newbie 101 section under our "Coping section". It co trains valuable tips and discusses cross contamination and hidden sources of gluten. Celiac symptoms can wax and wane. I did not have really any symptoms other than anemia at the time of my diagnosis. Later, I noticed things that I just thought were normal...
  20. Thanks! Pretty interesting but I would be wary of completely trusting your "jddh" approved foods list! Ha! Hey, what exactly is Polish Mayonnaise? I am of Plish decent, but live on the US West Coast. I recall my Grandma shipping food to Poland for years (post WWII). When she visited in the 70's, they served her tuna that she had sent. it was...
  21. I am sorry that you feel that way. I am NOT a doctor and the advice I gave you was based on personal experience. The worse abdominal pain I have experienced has resulted from a non-functioning gallbladder. Severe enough to cause me to pass out. Like celiac disease, a non-functioning gallbladder can be difficult to diagnose. It was just "something...
  22. Please do not take iron supplements until your doctor has checked your blood levels (CBC). Too much iron can be as harm as not enough. Your doctor should also check for other vitamin and mineral defiencies because you have celiac disease.
  23. At the time of my celiac disease diagnosis, I was severely anemic and my ferritin level was a 2. I did not opt for even blood transfusions. Instead I went on a strict gluten-free diet. Within months along with iron supplements, my ferritin level increased and my hemoglobin improved. I have Thalassemia as well so that compounded my anemia issues. I...
  24. Keven, Welcome to the forum! You are not alone! Read some of these links about what to eat and cross contamination issues: /celiac-disease/the-gluten-free-diet-101-a-beginners-guide-to-going-gluten-free-r1640/ https://www.celiac.com/forums/topic/91878-newbie-info-101/ Being armed with information will make things so much easier. Keep in mind...
  25. My endoscopy looked okay visually, but a week later my biopsy results revealed a Marsh Stage IIIB (moderate to severe villi damage). I think you just have to wait.
