  1. I've always been thin, so I know how you feel. Five pounds is a ton of weight change for thin people. If you are nervous about gaining weight, try to incorporate exercise into your weight gain routine. Maybe you already do exercise, I'm not sure. Exercising will make you feel good about gaining weight because it will enhance your self image physically...
  2. Oops, I guess I could have used my brain too. It's the holiday season and I temporarily turned it off. Thanks for the assistance. LOL
  3. If it catches on down there, maybe they'll export it. You guys enjoy it for now especially over the holidays.
  4. I'm glad that you found a recipe. I don't have a bread machine. I'd like to make the ricotta stollen when I can find the recipe. I can't wait to try the Irish Soda bread too.
  5. It would be great if Budweiser Canada could start brewing Redbridge up here too.
  6. Before I when I was eating gluten, my stomach (or gi tract) made noises like that constantly. But, since being gluten-free my system is silent.
  7. I'll try and get the book from the library.
  8. We have an Italian market near my place and they have Italian and other western European goods there. Here is what it says on my gluten-free crackers from Italy. "Senza Glutine" means no gluten. "Zero Grano" also loosely means no gluten, maybe "no wheat" would be a more direct translation. They have the same symbol that we have in Canada; the grain...
  9. I asked for a recipe last year on this forum and I don't think anyone replied. Lets hope for a reply this year. I love stollen.
  10. I have seen no-name brands up here in Canada with a cc wheat statement on them or wheat being listed in the ingredients.
  11. I get swollen fingers too. But, I'm not sure if it from gluten or not. The strangest thing is that this only started happening in August and I'm still trying to find a reason why.
  12. Honda's and Toyota's are always a great buy. Stay away from the Neon's. Of course, BMW and Mercedes are great, but not if there is an immediate budget constraint.
  13. Invert sugars (xylitol, mannitol, sorbitol, etc.) can cause D in some people. I have yet to find a sugar-free, gluten-free gum without invert sugars.

    ARCHIVED Opm

I ordered take-out from OPM last night off their gluten-free menu. They come in those cool asian boxes and they wrote gluten-free on each one so there was no confusion. It was awesome and they must know what they are doing because I didn't get sick. It was so cool because I ordered four gluten-free items so my husband and I could share. It was like the...
  15. It's good that you posted about the soba noodles because I'm sure some people don't know about that. I tend to eat more Thai noodles than Chinese ones lately. I sure do miss some of the Chinese soups I used to eat before being gluten-free.
  16. I'm really not worried about cc with plain white rice because in Asia I don't think there would be a field of wheat next to a rice field due to growing conditions, climate, and the industry in general. I also don't think rice would be cultivated, transported and packaged with other grains like wheat. This is just my opinion, I'm more familiar with agri...
  17. I used to have that when I drank beer, not knowing that I was gluten intolerant. But I haven't had that problem since being gluten-free. That is very strange and really awful. Sorry I can't be of any help.
  18. Yes Kraft Minute Rice is safe. Kraft is one of the good companies that will list on the ingredients that we can't have such as wheat, barley, etc.
  19. Now that sounds like a deliciously festive snack. Yummy
  20. I buy gigantic bags of rice from Thailand that are sold at Costco. The plastic is so thick I'm not worried. Also, the rice flours and noodles I have bought contain just rice and water. Even if you buy a mainstream brand of rice flour, do you know where the rice to make the flour is actually coming from? Possibly from Asia because it would be cheaper....
  21. I think there is an Altoids conspiracy in Canada. LOL
  22. I don't really have an answer for you. I've been experimenting with new cheeses and I just read the ingredients to determine if they are safe. Maybe this isn't the best way to do things, but I love to try new cheeses locally or from Europe.
  23. I like any kind of thin Asian/Thai rice noodles and they are so affordable. Of course I also like Tinkyada.
  24. From what I have read on this site. You'll probably find more information here than from a nutritionist, unless they specialize in celiac disease.
  25. Can we mention Altoids on this thread? LOL
