  1. I'm sure you could use olive oil. It may just alter the taste mildly, depending on the type of olive oil you use. Olive oil is awesome for making foccaccia bread.
  2. Oops, I forgot about those ones. I have seen them.
  3. I'm glad you found some. Better to be safe.
  4. The date on this link is from the Fall 2003. This is too old to be reliable. Product ingredients and formulations may change often.
  5. Good reasons to get tested. I guess your best bet is to try and find a new doctor who will refer you. After I went gluten-free my endurance was completely different. Any ascent I did before whether it be riding, hiking or cross-country skiing, was very difficult and I was huffing and puffing. Since being gluten-free, I can hold a conversation on the...
  6. The problem is that Safeway brand may be made by Quaker and they are not gluten-free. I eat Lundberg brand which are available at Save-On Foods or Planet Organic (or other health food stores). Philadelphia cream cheese is made by Kraft, so the ingredients would have to state any type of gluten. I'm pretty sure Philly is safe. Someone else will hopefully...
  7. I haven't been able to find any that are gluten-free.
  8. My blood work was negative for celiac disease. I also have a family member with celiac. It is possible that you have celiac or that you have nonceliac gluten intolerance. If you don't need a diagnosis, you can always take all gluten out of your diet and see what happens. My dietary response was positive. I have never felt better in my whole life. ...
  9. If you can eat dairy, you could make yogurt smoothies with bananas, raspberries and some fruit juice. It is a little bit like trial and error in the beginning since your system is healing. Give it time and maybe in the future you will be able to reintroduce new items.
  10. This is my personal opinion, but I have had problems with Bob's Red Mill products. Maybe you could try another brand just in case. Also, it takes time for your body to heal. I got sick off and on in the beginning and it took about eight months before I felt great. Try to find something that makes you feel good and then only introduce the new grains...
  11. You can if you accidentally get some in your mouth. But , for me gluten in my shampoo makes my head itch like crazy and my hair sheds more than if I use a gluten-free shampoo.
  12. I hope it helped. I wasn't sure whether to post scientific info. or just googled info. I just found the article really quickly, but I can find more info. if you need it.
  13. Breakfast: Lundberg rice cake with peanut butter and a banana and coffee Lunch: Que pasa tortilla chips with homemade hummus and Minute Maid orange juice Snack: Quinoa chocolate chip cookies (homemade) and herbal tea Supper: Homemade winter vegetable soup (tomatoes, zucchini, leeks, spinach, chickpeas, parmesan, olive oil and spices) with a glass of wine...
  14. Quinoa is high in fibre, so you may just have to have small amounts until your body gets used to it. I found I had a hard time in the beginning with all the new grains. It may have been I was trying too many or consuming too much. Mind you, I never had a problem with rice.
  15. This is onion toxicity info. in pets from a scientific paper. But the info. can be found in most pet care books also. Quoted from: K.H. Plumlee / Vet Clin Small Anim 32 (2002) 383

    ARCHIVED Tim Hortons

The McDonalds one has granola on top. I don't know if the granola comes in a separate package.

I'm not sure about Halls or Astro being gluten-free, but I'm sure someone else will post. Yoplait yogurt is gluten-free. Make sure your choc chips are safe too.
  18. Okay, it may cost a little more but I eat Olympic organic yogurts and sour cream (from BC). I don't know about the B12 content, but they are very good at answering e-mail questions.
  19. The proteins in natural rubber latex and bananas are very similar.
  20. I haven't seen this and I ate fresh bananas in Ecuador. But you never know.
  21. Good question, but I don't have an answer for you. I do know that M & Ms are safe in Canada.
  22. Also, for Canadians. I contacted Parmalat a while back and they said that they will not guarantee any of their products to be gluten free, not even their milk.
  23. I wish there was something that simple to clean cats teeth. LOL
  24. Good luck! It does get easier with time.
