  1. Sadly just had gluten free chicken strips and oreida fries for dinner tonight. We ran out of Thanksgiving leftovers and have yet to venture into the grocery stores to replenish.
  2. Anyone care to link their favorite pie shell recipes?! I have yet to try making that... I love to bake but pie crusts seem so scary!
  3. Thankfully my doctor double-booked my appointment into his schedule and will see me tomorrow!
  4. I just got the message from my doctor that I have microscopic colitis. I had a colonoscopy last month with biopsies. The colonoscopy prep was not nearly as bad as what people have told me it would be. Honestly the best part of my experience was the prep. The scope was not so great - I woke up several times during the procedure - I was only sedated with midazolam...
  5. That is some wonderful improvement on the labs!
  6. Definitely every label, every time. It's so easy to fall into a trap like that though. So sorry you're ill! That kinda labeling pisses me off, too!
  7. I found this while perusing the internet today. It's written from a gluten intolerant perspective. Open Original Shared Link
  8. thanks! I appreciate the hugs. :)
  9. Well... my diarrhea has continued and not improved despite resolution of most of my other celiac symtoms. I'm going in to be tested for microscopic colitis next month. I just want to have a normal phucking bowel movement. It's been soo long I don't even remember what one looks or feels like! Hoping for answers.
  10. It would be fun to visit some other Celiac's households... But Texas is kinda far for a quick trip! Today we are having beef tacos. I baked some lemon poppy seed muffins for my boyfriend to take with him to work for breakfast. He will still buy the glutenous muffins from the grocery store and just bag them immediately and store them separate from our...
  11. Can I come over for dinner? That sounds wonderful!
  12. This is unfortunately what happens when people really care about you. They hate to see you suffer. While it can be frustrating to have two people in misery (one physical and one emotionally) it's good to know you're so well looked after. Despite the few and far between hiccups.
  13. Yikes!!! I hope it doesn't hit you too hard. Every label, every time. The Celiac mantra.
  14. The Polar FT4 heart rate monitor is pretty inexpensive on websites like Amazon and you can use that as a great tool in your fitness arsenal. THe fitbit monitors hr too but I don't believe it is as accurate at Polar and thus the calorie counting aspect is off.
  15. The article was talking about proteins that are lumped together as gluten and some people are intolerant to other gluten free grains (ie. oats). She has article references so its worth checking them out.
  16. Here is an article featured on the front page of Bodybuilding.com that I found to be well written. Gluten free is preached about big time in the body building community for the wrong reasons. It's good to see they are educating folks. Open Original Shared Link
  17. Wonderful to read - am still a newbie myself and sometimes find myself getting impatient. Great reminder as well as hope!
  18. I thought it could have been funnier. I watched it last night.
  19. I don't take South Park seriously.. that is true. I'll be watching to see how they manage this topic. I do see a lot of people making an uproar about it though if it's handled poorly. Even if it's supposed to be satire.
  20. I made a Thai red curry tonight from the cook book Artisanal Gluten Free. I would recommend to add green peas, snap peas, carrots and fresh basil (fresh basil as a MUST - add at the end of the recipe). I had a favorite dish at a Thai restaurant in Davis and have CRAVED it for a year now. I can now say my home recipe is 99.9% similar and my taste buds cannot...
  21. So apparently there is an upcoming episode of South Park with gluten free mentions... Here is a link for anyone interested in seeing a preview. I've never been a South Park fan however my boyfriend watches it and saw this was coming up. Open Original Shared Link
  22. I made a few recipes this weekend to try and get out of the food rut I've been in. I made a recipe from Against the Grain cook book this weekend. It was the slow cooker beef chili recipe. I thought it tasted good however the sauce reminded me of a mole sauce. So with a few tweaks and change to turkey breast I am going to turn it into one next time! I...
  23. I just read the topic of this post and was like YEAHHHH BUDDY!!!! Hope it all goes well!!!!
  24. This concept makes reasonable sense to me. However it seems really gross. The participants did not take the medication to clear the hookworms afterwards. I wonder how large the parasite load could be left untreated and not cause any symptoms from the parasites themselves?
  25. Welcome to the forum! We always recommend the Newbie 101 thread to read. Lots of great info there! The depression, isolation and anxiety that you are going through is not uncommon. As someone with a chronic disease diagnosis you're going to have to go through stages of grief over your old lifestyle compared to the lifestyle with which you must lead now...
