  1. Hi pr40 - I'm sorry you feel like the moderators are giving you a bad tone. However, the consensus of the responses you have had in regards to your question is: if you have Celiac's disease the management is exclusively through a gluten-free diet. One should not cheat on the diet or they risk recurrence of symptoms as well as higher risk factors for other...
  2. I'll have to check into that. Are these the kind you fry or bake? I suppose I could not be lazy and open the link. LOL These look good... might have to try my hand at frying some...
  3. hehehe! I'll share!! They came out really well for my first time! I am going to try this!! Thank you!! They look amazing!
  4. I pick up what you are putting down, Adalaide! They sounds super yummy..
  5. I am going to attempt to bake some doughuts/donuts (sp?) either tonight or tomorrow. I have to run out and buy some pans because I can't wait for the one I ordered from Amazon to get here Saturday. Does anyone have any tried and true favorite recipes?
  6. It can be very difficult finding a diagnosis after being gluten free for so long, especially if you are unwilling to do a gluten challenge (I do not blame you for not wanting to do that). The familial link can definitely give you more pieces to the puzzle but not necessarily a positive or negative. There are many here that just consider themselves Celiac...
  7. I agree with the other replies.. you must be eating gluten to have a true negative for Celiac. Typically you have to eat a slice of bread for 8-12 weeks and then get your blood drawn for titers. Infiltration of the small intestine with lymphocytes is seen on biopsy but it can also be seen with other conditions. I would definitely consider you a very likely...
  8. That looks really good! Did you love it?
  9. I actually have problematic skin myself, so I know how frustrating it can be! I use Lancome teinte idole ultra right now (I have acne/folliculitis and oily skin- medium to full coverage, lots of shades so very easy to find a match), matte and sets with a light powder. A great cheap full coverage cream foundation is the concealers from coastal scents. They...
  10. I typically don't worry about the products that I put on my face having gluten ingredients in them, except for lip products.
  11. Glad to hear you got your diagnosis! Welcome to the team .

    Wonderful Friends

YAY for good times with good friends and good food! It's interesting to test the theory on the cramps being anxiety versus gluten induced. How are you going to test that theory out?
  13. This cake is magnificent!! Do you have a picture of it sliced?! I want to see the beautiful layers! Great job on decorating! So festive!
  14. I haven't found a safe restaurant to eat at with confidence that wasn't dedicated gluten free. I'd rather eat at an educated friend/family's house than a restaurant. But it can be done and people do it safely. I'm also a newbie just 6 months into the journey and my symptoms are finally resolving. I'd hate to get a setback.
  15. No judgement here!! Definitely more facets to a man than his looks, totally agree!!
  16. Thanks for the clarification.. Your back story certainly makes sense. I'm not offended, just giving my take on the post, too. ((Hug it out))
  17. Um.... No.... he's 73. My idea of hot is Joseph Gordon-Levitt
  18. haha I had to look up Patrick Stewart... I recognized him once I saw his image on google.. but so not nerding out on that one! But I can appreciate your super fan status!
  19. I think everyone has a version of what is 'healthy' and they are not always a unanimous definition accepted by all. I personally smoke cigars. I have a humidor with about 15 cigars in it. I work out 5-6 days a week, eat healthy, abstain from alcohol but that is one of my indulgences. I don't necessarily consider myself unhealthy for it.
  20. Just wanted to add that I figured out (no big surprise, it's common) that I'm intolerant to sugar alcohols. Removing them from my diet helped my chronic D significantly. It was sneaking in through a protein bar (I would bring 1/3 of a bar to work and eat it as a snack daily). Since removing it I am improving by leaps and bounds.
  21. That really grinds my gears. She's not a vegetarian she's a pescetarian. And the fact that she ordered a glutenous lunch is irritating and particular rude and misleading. Perhaps she's a silent celiac and doesn't understand the ramifications of cheating?
  22. Cats are great pets. If you plan to keep the cat inside you can still get fleas. The cat can be treated with a topical flea medication (Advantage, Revolution, Frontline.. among many others). The flea collars you buy in the pet stores are generally not useful at all. Once an infestation starts it is very hard to control. Prevention is key. For reference I...
  23. Accept the grieving process. Get sad, get mad, then get over it. But don't just push it aside, brush it away like it isn't worth mourning. Because it is HUGE to change your lifestyle. So go through the process and once you feel better you'll just wonder when it happened; when did I feel good again? And come here and vent your frustrations. I get tired of...
  24. I'm having a 'treat meal' tonight: grilled chicken nachos with red bell pepper, onions, and mushrooms. I haven't eaten this type of meal in a long time. I'm very excited. For those that don't know I track my macronutrients so I weigh/plan my meals accordingly. I spent last night figuring out my meals for today so I could fit that in. Sooo looking forward...
