  1. im not sure about that-- i have never tried but i dont know if they have the ingredients to make soy-free or egg-free food. You may want to give them a call or you can email from their website...definitely worth a shot!!
  2. Hey guys, So i have been to several restaurants where i have been tempted to order shrimp scampi but have been scared to do so b/c i dont think i really know what it is. Does anyone order it in restaurants? Is it safe? What do i have to ask about? Anyone have success ordering it in italian restaurants or seafood places? Thanks!!
  3. took me around a year but i think that was because i wasnt patient enough- i refused to eliminate milk completely for the first several months and kept accidentally glutening myself so i wasnt healing. Once i allowed myself to heal (from the gluten) i slowly was able to reincorporate dairy...now i seem to be fine, but i am still a little careful about having...
  4. I am not sure exactly where Hancock is, but I was recently in the Berkshires- in Pittsfield, MA areas. I went out to eat at only 1 restaurant- a seafood/steak place called Kneebones-- i was a little nervous about eating out but the waitress was great and cooked my fish on foil on the grill-- i didnt get sick or anything and it was pretty good and very inexpensive...
  5. FYI- Clif Nectar bars are gluten free and they are great! I am totally obsessed, and they are very good snacks
  6. Jillian-- I so feel for you! I have that feeling a lot- when i go out drinking or eating w/ a big group of people...it does suck. But think of it this way, in the past, you would have gone out drinking then eaten that bagel and how bad did you feel the next day? (always thought it was a hangover but now i know otherwise!) The inconvenience is...

    ARCHIVED Babycakes...

AMAZING right? I couldve ordered another-- except we got the very last one they had... I have never had a bad dessert there though, i dont know what they put in their food, but its like crack! The baker there is opening up a bakery in NYC sometime in the next year or so, i cant wait! Jillian- I am in westchester- bar was last week and i am now just...

    ARCHIVED Babycakes...

i liked babycakes but did not LOVE it. i felt like i only really liked it b/c i hadnt had cupcakes in a long time. I think Risotteria's desserts are SO much better-- everything i have had there for dessert has been sensational- and my non-celiac friends all agree.

    ARCHIVED Tropica

I havent tried it yet but i have eaten at several of the restaurants owned by the same company-- i really like their restaurants and have found all of them to be very accomodating. I have been meaning to try Tropica but the hours arent great (i generally only eat out on the weekends so i havent made it there yet). Let me know how it is!!
  11. Jen- dont know if you will be checking this site while you are in NY but what kind of late night places are you looking for? Dont know where u are staying but if you are looking for a safe place to have a drink, u should definitely check out Russian Samovar on 52nd/broadway- they have excellent fruit infused vodka and everything is gluten-free and great-...
  12. and boy did it pour!!! I waited in the subway for 20 mins and still got soaked!! But a trip to Ris is ALWAYS worth it!!
  13. all i can tell you is that i dont like pepto. i switched to it recently after learning tums are not gluten-free and i hate it! it has a lot of side effects for me. However, i rarely take anything, so i cant be any help for the others.
  14. you would have to call on that one... they dont have a list or anything and i think it is too new for anyone to know...unless someone else has already called. sounds yummy though! i would worry that they probably use toasted coconut flakes and those could contain gluten but who knows
  15. Jillian-- I know this is a little late, but dont do it!!!! You might get an STD! haha, no seriously, i have had those cookies (back when i was convinced oats were ok) and they were what convinced me that i will never again eat oats-- i saw the "wheat free" and figured i'd be fine- that is one of the sickest ive been in a long time...i wont tell you...
  16. I LOVE LOVE LOVE the espresso chocolate chunk ones. I find that the little cookies are better than the bigger ones for some reason, but i love their cookies
  17. Jolly Time is good- i eat the Kettle Corn flavor- i think the Butter flavor contains dairy but i am not positive -it is listed on the label. I love popcorn!
  18. jen- not sure what exhibits will be around that time, but will let you know as it gets closer... If you are looking to save a few $, the MOMA has free admission on friday afternoons- but you will have to get there early as the line obviously gets pretty long...But the MOMA is awesome. If its nice out while you are here, its always fun to spend some time...
  19. hey guys, Just wanted to let everyone know, i wrote to Origins regarding their liquid lip color (that awesome lip stuff that smells like chocolate mint) and this is their response, yay!!!
  20. I dont think they do it but you could always get a panini instead...or risotto.. i wish they would make more dairy-free stuff though (like soy cheese or something on the pizza)
  21. Thanks guys for your advice. It has helped me in two ways...i have decided that in this particular situation, i shouldnt go, b/c it will be a little too difficult to get answers to my questions about marinades, etc. with so many people and i dont feel it is worth the risk. But you guys have made me feel less concerned about greek food in general, which i...
  22. Susan- i agree with everything Jillian said- u could also look at Tropica if you will be here on a weekday- its pretty expensive but supposed to be excellent. www.restaurantassociates.com. All of their restaurants are great, and really nice atmospheres. And by the way- my roommate just went to see 3 days of rain and said it was pretty good-- julia wasnt...
  23. I love thai! And its not so hard to find gluten-free thai food... I usually get pad thai, just make sure theres no soy sauce in it (in my experience there usually isnt or they can easily make it w/o)-- many dishes are made w/ rice noodles, just ask when you get there. I think thai is much easier than chinese, mexican, etc. Good luck!
  24. Thanks Vincent! I, like you, would like to try it but dont want to spend $$$ on shipping unless i know i like it!!!
  25. Is it true? I seriously hope so! Where did you hear that?!
