  1. Curel regular strength is gluten free. Curel Ultra Healing is NOT gluten free, and contains oatmeal. This may have changed in the last 6 months since I researched it.
  2. When I was first having tummy issues, my gi told me to eat white rice - not brown. Brown is more fibrous and may not digest as easily.
  3. I keep Lays potato chips, crackers, small can of Bush's baked beans, tuna, protein bars, juice, and an oatmeal breakfast by Vigilante Eats. They are expensive, but very filling, and all you need to do is add water (either hot or cold) for a very filling meal.
  4. Wow! I don't mean to be rude, but Wow! I've wasted too much time reading this that I will never get back. I wasn't going to comment on this thread, but I think I will. I'm also recovering from an injury. Dietary restrictions were one of the things I worried most about when my injury and subsequent rehab occurred. Luckily, my husband and friends...
  5. That was my thought, also.
  6. I bought several things at an Amish bulk store this weekend. I looked at 5 lb. bags of oatmeal, but I couldn't find where it was packaged and processed, so I didn't buy it. Now, I'm concerned about several other things that I did buy as well - natural peanut butter, jelly, and sweet potato chips. There's no labeling stating where it was processed or how...
  7. Thank you for your help.
  8. Wow! We have a lot in common! I recently posted a thread similar to yours asking for help. I'm now six months out from diagnosis and I feel worse all the time! And, like you, I continue to lose weight. I haven't seen any blood, and I'm not in the bathroom quite as many times as you are, but other than that we are quite similar. It seems like every week...
  9. I just received a new cookbook titled "How Can It Be Gluten Free" by America's Test Kitchen. They tested recipes on many different gluten-free grocery store brands of flour. Bob's Red Mill and King Arthur came out on top. They use the same recipe on both flour blends and give instructions for how to modify it to get the best result. I am finding it very...
  10. This may sound a bit silly, but I really don't know! Does ghee contain whey? Or is it rendered out? Lactose is a problem for me, but now either casein or whey is also a problem. I'm not sure which one is making me miserable when it's mistakenly eaten.
  11. I have felt bad enough lately, and just lost another 1.5 lbs., that I had to get the dr. involved. One of the things my gp did was have a dietician call me. This was the same dietician that I had a meeting with when I was first diagnosed in Aug. She is putting me on a diet plan called the fodmap. The info and diet plan should be in the mail tomorrow,...
  12. My son enrolled me in one called the Taste Guru for six months as a Christmas gift. I have to admit that I am always pleasantly surprised when the box arrives. I've enjoyed everything in it so far minus a small pack of Cornuts. It comes packed with quite a few items that I would never have purchased at the store, but now that I've tasted them, I will definitely...
  13. I will be in Vegas shortly, and I'm both looking forward to the trip and dreading it at the same time. Since I have only been recently diagnosed, I've tried to avoid restaurants. Has anyone been to Vegas and found safe places to eat???
  14. For those of you that stated that you have a reaction? What exactly is that reaction? Is it all dermatitis related, or does it cause other problems?
  15. I went through the same thing when I had surgery for a leg break. They brought me a tray of clear liquids and my hubs told them to check for gluten. They insisted it was ok. Through my painful fog, I kept saying, "No!" They brought me a popsicle, and hubs looked it up. It was not gluten free, either. I don't know who was more frustrated - me or the...
  16. I've had it!! I'll try not to make this too wordy. In a nutshell, I was diagnosed in Aug. 2013, and immediately went gluten-free. That was tough bc I was on vacation. I don't consider my first 3 mos. gluten-free because I was traveling extensively, had surgery for a broken femur and spent a month in a rehab facility. I did my very best honestly. It...
  17. Canada Dry Ginger Ale! Some sites say it contains gluten in the coloring and other sites say it's okay. I just wish I knew for sure. It's the only carbonated beverage I drank.
  18. I have nothing to add to this, but I was glad to hear all of your responses. I haven't been in that situation yet, but my greatest fear is that it will eventually happen. So far, when I'm going to have a problem it starts with a rumbling in my stomach. As soon as that starts, I know I need to head home, and I know I won't feel good in a few hours. I hope...
  19. Hello! What are your feelings about using body products that contain gluten after a celiac dx? I was reminded to check all personal care products and medications, etc. in the packet I received from the doc. But, I don't have the skin issues related to celiac, so do I need to worry about using products that might contain gluten? I know the Clinique makeup...
  20. I read somewhere - either here or on the Starbucks sight - that mixes are not guaranteed gluten free. I know there was some controversy last fall about the pumpkin spice lattes not being vegan. Evidently, it made a lot of vegans angry. I'll try to find the article later. I looked up teas as I switched to drinking tea at Starbucks and found that they are...
  21. I feel exactly the same way as you do! I thought I was being so careful, and I felt great about being gluten free for a few months. Today I realized that Swanson Vegetable Broth is not gluten free like the chicken and beef broth. I was making yet another healthy pot of soup and decided to scan the bar code while I was waiting for the soup to simmer. BAM...
  22. I know exactly how you feel! I posted something similar a few days ago. I felt okay the first month or so, and now three months out, I feel awful! I have a 100% gluten-free kitchen, never eat out, and stick to fresh foods only. I read and was told that bone broth is definitely the way to go. You need to cook it much longer than you would expect - 24 ...
  23. I was diagnosed in August. I've done everything right - no gluten, read labels, "de-glutened" kitchen, no processed foods, etc. I'm still having digestive issues. I've gone from lactose intolerant to complete dairy intolerant. I think sugar bothers me, so I've given up most of it. I gave up raw vegees and soy. I've read enough on here to know that sometimes...
  24. I have a problem with caffeine in general, but it started before I was diagnosed. I think it was just upsetting my damaged gut. I can drink tea now, but coffee…not so much, yet. I read somewhere that instant coffee labels should be read, especially flavored instant coffees. Try drinking very weak decaf for a bit.
  25. Well, I don't know if this will help or not. I'm also older than you, and when I was diagnosed in August my survival instinct kicked in, and my first thought was "it could always be worse, and thank God I can make it better". I was on vacation when I got the call, so it was quite an adjustment in an instant. I'm still dealing with digestive issues, so...
