  1. I am a teacher who would bend over backwards to keep a student safe, although I will admit that when I had a student with celiac a few years before I had it, I relied on the parents to provide safe materials for her. Now that I have it, of course, my understanding of celiac has grown! If there is a problem with selling your cardboard idea, I'd get a letter...
  2. When healing, I didn't have extreme thirst, but I lost so much weight that I became seriously dehydrated several times. I started drinking unflavored Pedialyte to alleviate it. While at the ER once for dehydration, a nurse told me adding a small amount of sugar and salt would do the same thing cheaper. I think it was 1/4 tsp of each. Maybe trying that...
  3. I tried the SCD diet for quite awhile, and it didn't seem to help much. My dr. suggested the FodMap diet and sent me to the dietician to discuss it. He also discovered through testing that I was struggling with SIBO, and the FodMap is great for that. In a nutshell, I started with homemade chicken broth, eggs, carrots, green beans, bananas, berries, most...
  4. I don't have much to add to help you, but I can tell you that it took me almost two yrs. to heal, and I was only starting to feel bad about six months prior. My hair thinned, also. I started taking biotin, and even though I still take it, I'm not sure it really helped or enough time went by that it just started improving. My sister was diagnosed about...
  5. I make pumpkin pies all the time. I just use the coconut milk in the can. It works great and doesn't taste at all like coconut.
  6. Has the doctor seen this rash? I used to get psoriasis on my arms after sitting at wooden picnic tables. I was given a concentrated cortisone cream that took care of it.
  7. My sister and I both noticed hair loss shortly after diagnosis. Hers stopped falling out about six months into recovery. Mine is slowly coming back, but not as quickly as hers. It took mine about a year or so, and it's not as thick as it used to be. The only thing I take is biotin, a vitamin supplement, each day. I hope you see improvement soon. Remember...
  8. I have a mouth guard to wear at night for tmj. I've had it for two years. If it was made from gluten, I would've been sick by now.
  9. Homemade chicken or beef broth is soothing and provides you with some vitamins and minerals.
  10. I don't have any problems with them, but the brownie mix is the only one I really like. If you can find Namaste, it's worth trying and pretty darn good.
  11. Hello! Trying to find out if banana liqueur is gluten free. I emailed DeKuyper and their response was to let me know the calorie count. I couldn't find any way to contact Bols - they only list a phone number in Amsterdam.
  12. Chipotle must vary by location. Every time I go there, they wash hands and change gloves, and one person walks down the line with my order without asking.
  13. I hear Glutenberg beer is good.
  14. On that same forum, someone is now posting that Starbucks whip cream contains gluten. Starbucks doesn't list their allergen ingredients on line, but I doubt that it does. Does anyone know anything about this? I'm dropping out of that forum; too much misinformation.
  15. My usual order is a decaf soy latte either hot or iced. I've loved them forever!
  16. Someone in another group mentioned that they were sure they were glutened by coffee. Several people responded stating that coffee has protein in it, and she was probably getting ill from the cross-reactive property of the protein in the coffee acting like gluten. What??? I laughed about this thinking that was the dumbest thing I ever heard, but...I looked...
  17. Before I was diagnosed, I had the very same symptoms at you. They just cropped up out of the blue and wouldn't go away. I was sure I was just run down and tired after a trying summer and start to the school year. After about 4 months (and Christmas break - I teach), I went to my gp who sent me to a g.i. Yep, celiac!
  18. My sister eat them daily, also. She's never had a problem.
  19. I've never paid attention to the size of the pretzels, but I eat them nearly every day and haven't ever had a problem.
  20. Hello! It's that time of year when the pumpkin spice drinks come out! I've looked on line and found nothing but conflicting reports about whether they are gluten free or not. I know I can make my own, and I have, but it would be nice to be able to order one now and then. My usual drink is a decaf soy latte iced, and while researching today, I read many...
  21. I have similar symptoms. I've had two bowel surgeries in the past 7 weeks (dear God, one was enough!). Nothing really tastes right other than chocolate almond milk and plums. I'm doing my best to eat as I lost another few pounds that I can't afford to lose. My mouth has a constant burning sensation and my lips are so dry they are peeling. I make a point...
  22. I don't have a problem with them, and my antibody level couldn't get any better.
  23. Grilled pork chops, tomatoes, thai salad, and cantaloupe -
  24. I've been trying to gain weight for two years. Lately, I've been drinking chocolate milk (almond) a couple times per day. Gaining weight is just as hard as losing in my opinion. I'm so sick of eating, especially calorie laden foods. The chocolate milk is quite a few calories, and it's refreshing addition to my diet.
