  1. I think Honeyville is the best (and most expensive) almond flour available. I don't have any trouble with it.
  2. I don't have any problem with it.
  3. Like CyclingLady said: Gluten has to be injected to cause problems. I changed lip gloss, but other than that, I use the same shampoo, conditioner, and makeup without any problems at all. I'm not careful in the shower, but I make it a point to keep my mouth closed when shampooing.
  4. I've never had a problem with any kind of butter or margarine. As far as milk containing gluten, I drink it daily and my celiac panel has been perfect the last few yearly checkups.
  5. I have a small Calphalon skillet, silicone spatula, collapsible colander, and flex cutting board I travel with. I keep it in a tote that I pull off shelf when I travel. Other than that, I do the same as the above posters.
  6. I've continued to use Redken on my curly hair without a problem, and I just had my numbers checked and they're perfect. I do try to keep my hands out of my hair and wash them if I'm brushing it.
  7. What about a smoothie? You can add nut butters or protein powder. Avocado, coconut milk, spinach, carrots, and cooked sweet potato can be added without even noticing they are in there to amp up calories and nutrients.
  8. One of my favorite meals from childhood that I now keep in the freezer to thaw when a quick meal is needed is hamburger hash. It's simply ground beef, chopped onions, potatoes, and beef broth. I vary it depending on what I have on hand with veggies such as spinach, kale, bell pepper, etc. Freezes very well! I like eating it for breakfast with a fried...
  9. Karen is correct. I am one of those people she speaks of who came here for advice for a couple years and seldom have a need to post once health was restored. My sister is also doing fine, as are a friend and a friend's son-in-law. Strange, but all four of us were diagnosed within a few weeks of each other. How does that happen? Also, gluten is not...
  10. Mountain House freeze-dried camping meals makes a variety of gluten free meals.
  11. You may get better advice from others, but you know what? It's only celiac, and it's only food. It calls for some changes in your lifestyle, but it's only food! It's far, far better than cancer, heart disease, ms, Parkinson's, diabetes, cerebral palsy, and the list goes on. It's only a lifestyle change, and it's only food. It took me a good long while...
  12. Karen, do you purchase dried beans?
  13. Refresh eyedrops didn't work well for me. I really like Systane gel for nighttime use, and using a humidifier at night seems to help quite a lot.
  14. Canyon Bakehouse bread toasted with peanut butter, and a glass of orange juice
  15. I got well, also. The past three years were very trying, but I feel great! To make a long story short without all the details, I've gained 18 pounds since June and lost my dairy intolerance. I haven't tried straight milk yet, but I can put cream in my coffee without a problem. It wasn't easy and included a couple unexpected bowel surgeries (not related...
  16. Mariposa Bakery in the Ferry Bldg. right on the bay. Mariposa has fantastic sandwiches and salads, either hot or cold, on your choice of breads or rolls. Try the chocolate cupcakes!
  17. I can't find a single brand of dry beans (navy, great northern, black, etc.) at the grocery store without the "may contain wheat, barley, ...statement. Is there a brand without that warning, or are they okay if I wash and sort them very well?
  18. Yup, I don't have any problems with Tazo tea.
  19. Give yourself some time to learn 1) about the gluten free life and 2) time to heal. I was discouraged at the beginning because I just didn't seem to be getting better and I didn't have any symptoms at all until 6 mos. before I was diagnosed. It took me two years to feel better, but now I feel great. Read and study all you can from knowledgeable sites like...
  20. I am no means an expert, but I eat many things labeled as processed in the same facility. It's been stated on this forum a few times that "processed in the same facility isn't much different than "sharing your kitchen with other gluten eaters."
  21. Gluten will cause damage; soy will not unless you have an allergy to it, and then you will have allergy symptoms. If you aren't experiencing symptoms, I would think you do not have an allergy to soy. Soy won't cause you any damage, but if you're sensitive to it during the healing process, it will make you feel sick. While you are healing, different foods...
  22. I use CVS Pharmacy, and they have been great! They use Teva Manufacturing, and my account is flagged. Each time I pick up meds, the pharmacist will usually tell me that he has already called the manufacturer to verify whether they are gluten free or not. So far, nothing from Teva has had gluten in it that I use. It sounds like your pharmacist is a little...
  23. It seems as though I read something about this on here before, but I need to purchase almonds and walnuts. I don't have time to place an order with nuts.com. Are there any I can purchase from the grocery store that are safe and gluten free? I can't seem to find the thread I remember reading before.
