  1. Tired as heck from the job, I threw ore ida french fries and gluten-free chicken strips in the oven. Nutritious balanced meal for me! Yesterday I made a huge batch of red beans and rice and froze up a bunch of servings to take to work. SMRI, a good tip for when traveling is that suite hotels/extended stay usually have fridges in rooms. So, Hampton...
  2. Subway's CC is going to be a problem across the board on the food prep line. They handle the bread with their hands, touch the meats and cheeses with those hands when they have to carefully pick off single slices from the stack... knives aren't washed between sandwiches, the sandwich prep line can get very messy during busy times. Subway employees also...
  3. I have merged the other newer Aldi thread into this one. The only truly duplicate post was Karen and the reboxed thing she copied and pasted, everything else has been left as is. Actually doesn't flow too bad. Carry on, All!
  4. LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  5. Honestly, I wouldn't buy a house based on the location of one restaurant. If you are renting that may be different. There is an asian restaurant in Seattle, WA that makes me want to move there within delivery range, haha. But I would say to look more for overall Celiac friendliness in a community. Like grocery stores, doctors, hospitals, and restaurants...
  6. Just a note on the insurance thing... sometimes doctors will only take and process certain insurances, but someone with another insurance may be able to use them out of network and submit the claims themselves. Info on this can be found out through your insurance company. You can also just self-pay, sometimes doctors will cut you a deal and it is worth...
  7. Peter has a good point. They are out there, wherever they are.... I like Rudi's Multigrain bread. Definitely has to be toasted, though. Makes great sandwiches and toast. Haven't tried any other multigrain kind, I eat very little bread. I would pick up the canyon bakehouse if I saw it based on the number of people that have recommended it, though...
  8. If you can't get a doctors note easily, get some of those dining cards. With the giant red writing of what you can't have, they should be able to figure out what is going on is legitimate. I have never had to show my doctors note yet, in a year and a half.
  9. Ooooh, I may need to place an order with them then! I would probably eat myself sick with them, too. LOL
  10. Welcome to the forum! In general, beer is going to contain gluten unless it is specifically formulated without the gluten containing grains that most beers are made of. I looked up that brand of beer and saw a mention of hops, and no mention to the absence of gluten, so that is not going to be a gluten-free lager. Purity with beer is something totally...
  11. I would make double sure they are doing every single test including total serum IgA/IgG levels so you can make sure you are covered before you go gluten-free. Also make sure they are taking plentiful biopsies so there is no dilly dallying with the readout. You can make it through!
  12. We had our frying stuff day today. Fried chicken tenders that I marinated to be spicy, and fried pickles, with green beans on the side. Made extra chicken so we will have that later for a snack. It still cracks me up that I owned a deep fryer long before my Celiac diagnosis, but never used it since I was afraid of burning down the house. Now it comes...
  13. Yep. Especially if there is other food around, I just take it in with me. I have a doctors note as well, I get her to re write it at every annual exam so it has a current date. If it is a really strict place where bags are checked and such, I just make sure I have my note on me, I don't call ahead. Especially with kids and food allergies, I would think...
  14. I would drive an hour, or stop by when I was in that area. For just dinner nothing else, I have driven 45 minutes, it is worth it if it is that good.
  15. Oooh, looks like a good recipe. If I want to eat them in like, the car, and not be messy, should I up the sugar a little bit? Definitely going into my to try folder!
  16. Stuff it back inside a bag of suitcase. They aren't -supposed- to dig in your stuff. But yeah if you leave it out they may say something, hehe.
  17. Did the gentleman tell you which ones were not? Make sure to take note
  18. My stomach has always had a hard time with coffee. I basically no longer drink coffee... I used to have a latte or something when I was needing the caffeine, but I now (rarely) will drink 5 hour energy if caffeine is what I desperately need. I know some coffees can have less acid and stuff than others, but since I am not a coffee connoisseur, I can't really...
  19. Depending on what it is, sometimes I will just bring my own thing, whatever, or bring something myself in a crock pot and make sure I get the first serving before people get their grubby CC hands all over it. I like to bring dessert, like brownies or cookies, and then go around asking people how they liked the cookies, and then ask if they can tell it was...
  20. Make you some nachos!!!!!! I know you cook for one, if you make your taco meat moist, like put some tomato sauce in there, it freezes really well. I will make a pound at a time and that is 2 meals for the hubby and I, I just put the rest in ziplocs or a tupperware thing and freeze it. Meat, cheese, chips. Refried beans (bush's are gluten-free) are really...
  21. Just don't tell them. No one has to know... Muahahahahahahahh! We went to a con last year and I brought in my own lunch food, once all our friends found out I could smuggle in granola bars they had me take some in for them too, so they wouldn't have to buy expensive crap to hold them over until dinner. On trips, I have usually been eating something...
  22. I totally agree with everyone on this! Today we went out to a local italian place and I had chicken marsala with sauteed spinach. Was pretty good! About to make nachos for a late dinner.
  23. D: I am so hungry for something fresh baked now...... Hmmmmm what do I have in my pantry? Gonna make tacos later.
  24. I like to use sea salt.
  25. Here is the recipe they have on the package: Open Original Shared Link If you can't get their flour blend, they give an alternate recipe for it.
