ARCHIVED gluten-free Survival Kit For Vehicle
LauraTX replied to BlessedMommy's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
If I am going to need more than just the snacks I keep in my purse at all times, I focus on protein like nuts and jerky, they keep you filled up longer. I like the squeezy fruit stuff, too. -
Yep. we're twinkies! Funny thing is now Sams club has that grill for $70 and I bought it for $80.... special spring item... lol!

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
LauraTX replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
It was me! Mine worked pretty well on my eczema and didn't give me acne like most heavy moisturizers do, but I felt like I smelled like a cookie, lol. I think my favorite gluten-free bakery must use coconut oil or flour because it matched the smell when you go in there. I tasted it, too... nothing special but I can see how it may stand out badly in... -
ARCHIVED What's For Breakfast Today?
LauraTX replied to GlutenFreeManna's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I haven't had grits in a long time, need to make some! Every morning I usually eat a bowl of cereal and a banana, or oatmeal and a banana. I am pretty boring. If I make a big breakfast meal I usually make it at dinner time. -
ARCHIVED Don't Know If This Will Be Good
LauraTX replied to bartfull's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
My Aunt bought me that cookbook as a surprise gift last week and I LOVE IT! Hands down the best gluten-free cookbook out there. They recommend their flour blend recipe 1st, king arthur flour blend 2nd, and bobs red mill blend 3rd, giving any needed adjustments for each. I haven't combed completely through every recipe but it definitely seems like it is... -
ARCHIVED Prairie Path Beer Is Not Gluten Free :(
LauraTX replied to cmarti82's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I think it is a great tool to have a few of those home test kits for when you just can't figure out what has the gluten in it. Worth the price in my opinion. I checked out their website Open Original Shared Link and it looks like it is one of the gluten removed beers. There is another one called omission that causes a lot of commotion about whether...- 2 replies

Aww, Addy, I know how you feel about getting answers but the answer still sucks. I've been thinking about you and will think about you when getting an organ removed the same time I do, haha! Sometimes you can go through your plan coordinator and request that a provider be added to your insurance. If it is through an employer they will possibly be...

If it looks like the dressing is sealed off pretty good I think you are fine tossing it and eating the veggies. If there were croutons I would be more weary and look for crumbs. But I have gotten, for example, a fruit and cheese snack plate on and airplane, and the crackers with it were well sealed so I tossed them and ate the other stuff.

I like amys but a lot of people seem not to. I add toppings to it. Russo's is hard to find, I know it is at Kroger... best gluten-free pizza in my opinion. There is also apparently a new freschetta gluten-free pizza but I haven't heard from anyone who tried it yet. Against the grain is good but I can't get it where I am. If you feel like making your...

There are already a few threads on this you may want to read through. Dominos says about this pizza that it is not for people with celiac disease. They do not take any precautions to prevent CC, so it is quite risky. They cook it in the same pan and oven and prepare it on the same line as the regular pizzas. Do remember that just because something includes...

ARCHIVED Work Cafeteria Asking For Suggestions - Please Help With Ideas
LauraTX replied to Nikki2777's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Awesome, Nikki! I like the idea of you being able to email them and they have your sandwich already done in the back, probably before the lunch rush starts. -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
LauraTX replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Today as a meal for myself I sauteed some sweet potatoes and kale with a small shallot, and added some leftover grilled chicken. It was really really good, sweet potatoes and kale go well together. Seasoned with garlic, salt, and pepper. For dinner I am going to make a grilled pork tenderloin, serve with some green beans and Idahoan steakhouse bacon... -
ARCHIVED Another Stupid Mistake!
LauraTX replied to Juliebove's topic in Food Intolerance & Leaky Gut
I think you hit the nail on the head there... how odd! Can never let your guard down with all the crazy things they put in food that have no business being there. -

LauraTX replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Welcome, Scott! Will you please come cook for me? LOL... that looks great! Feel free to dive right in, I really like this rolling thread because it gives me meal inspirations. If you ever want a certain recipe for something feel free to ask, there are a good deal of people in the same boat as you with the multiple intolerances. -
Oh, I make sweet potato fries all the time! But I cut them into about 3/4 inch cubes because fry shape is hard to do. I throw them in a ziploc bag, add olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic, and shake them up, then dump into a pan. You have to over season because a lot sticks to the bag. I cook them a little higher on either 375 with convection or 400 normal...

I bet my husband would like the creamed cauliflower, he doesn't like veggies much. Here is a Mexican rice recipe my Mexican friend told me. I make it when I make tacos. Mexican Rice 1 Tbsp. vegetable oil 1 C long grain white rice 2 C chicken broth 1/2 small onion or 1 shallot 1 whole tomato 1 tsp. garlic powder Salt & pepper to taste Heat...

ARCHIVED Work Cafeteria Asking For Suggestions - Please Help With Ideas
LauraTX replied to Nikki2777's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
I agree with bartfull. If the person they trusted to make your sandwich displayed that they didn't get it already, I don't see how they will. If they have a chef on staff and are able to use a back area for gluten-free prep only, and only that staff member makes your food, etc, then it may be worth it to try more. But you don't have to make yourself something... -
The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
LauraTX replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Oh, and I forgot to add. As we were eating our curry my husband said "There is a peice of corn in this," and pulled it out to show me. The only possible way it could have gotten in there is if it was hidden in the bag of frozen peas. In a great showy excited tone I told him, "THIS is why I don't eat things made on shared equipment with gluten!!!! Crap... -
ARCHIVED Thoughts On This Statement
LauraTX replied to cmc811's topic in Celiac Disease Pre-Diagnosis, Testing & Symptoms
This article, the second column on the first page... gives a good layout of the number grading of lesions. Open Original Shared Link Whoever gave this statement misspoke in the second sentence. But the third sentence clarifies. If antibodies are present, it is celiac. If not, it is crohn's. It really should read: If a patient has a Marsh Type ... -
ARCHIVED Nutri-Bullet
LauraTX replied to NoGlutenCooties's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I agree that if you don't tolerate veggies well but want to increase your intake it is worth a shot juicing/ drinking smoothies, but not the juicing that discards the pulp. When people do that I cringe! Any good blender that pulverizes the crud out of the food really well will work, but I can see the draw with the single serving size. My massage therapist... -
ARCHIVED Gluten Cutter
LauraTX replied to silk's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I know a lady with celiac who takes gluten cutter when she gets glutened and claims it lessens the severity. I think she made that judgement after one use so I don't hold any merit to it. It says on the box, prominently on the website etc that it is not for Celiacs. What a shame for a parent to listen to misinformation and harm their child. -

Addy you and I are having surgery the same day. I'm scheduled the 27th to get my gallbladder out if I can stay away from germs this time. It is acting up this week, too... I think it knows I am coming for it! BlessedMommy, I LOVE watermelon! My husband gets sick of it by the end of the summer because I will buy the smallest one I can but it still... -

Nachos today! I like to make mine with just a bare sprinkle of cheese... I use non fat refried beans on the chip, then the meat, sprinkle of cheese just enough to put the taste there. Then tons of salsa. Yum. -
ARCHIVED Stonyfield Yo Toddler Yogurt

The What's For Dinner Tonight Chat
LauraTX replied to jess-gf's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Yesterday I played it simple and just made hot dogs for dinner. Sometimes all you want is junk! Tonight I am making some little steaks I got, with sweet potatoes and carrots. Will be a monochromatic dinner but that is what is left at the end of the week
