  1. Shroomie--thank you so much for taking the time to relay your experience with this nutritionist. I have issues with lectins too, and find this all fascinating. I'll be looking forward to hearing all about your progress
  2. It's confuzzling to me too Mark's been living up here in a guest house during the work week since early May, driving down to south Jersey on the weekends, where I've been staying at my son's house since early July when I moved up from Houston. We are moving into our (brand) new apartment Tuesday--it's about 10 minutes from here. Can nae wait to sleep in...

  9. OMG!! I phorgot to tell youse guys the phunniest part of my whole cold--I have laryngitis!!! Can nae talk--at all! I can whisper, or croak, but that's it.
  10. So glad that heat wave has broken!! That was a doozy Sounds like yer turnin' a corner, Bun! I'll have to look for those Zand lozenges--I've never heard of those. So it looks like we are signing all of the closing papers on Monday, having them notarized, and sending them back overnight express in time for the closing on Tuesday. Meanwhile...
  11. Since you are still having problems, it would be best to eliminate all dairy from all sources, both raw and cooked. Give it a good trial--a couple months at least to see if that helps. If it turns out to be a dairy problem, at some point after you've been feeling better, you could try a little goat's milk cheese to see how you do with it. I was dairy...

  13. Welcome back to the land of the living, Bun! I caught the creepin crud nasty cold that's been goin' around. Me throat is on phire.... This, of all weeks, too
  14. The OP knew there was wheat in the soup--that's not the question. They were questioning the timing of the reaction, and if there might possibly be another explanation for the symptoms since they had a negative blood test in the past.
  15. Wow Ravenwood--I'm so happy that you were able to venture out for a meal and that you had such a great experience!
  16. For sure, if you are even thinking about testing/repeat testing then by all means don't change your diet--of course you already know that. Truthfully, I don't think you are trying to prove anything to anybody, you just want to have a clear picture of what's going on, and that's very understandable. Look at the whole picture and then take it one step...

    ARCHIVED Stress

Under the circumstances, I think it's entirely possible that stress could be making matters worse--especially if you're not eating or using anything different. Sending good thoughts your way
  18. Suave will clearly list any gluten on the label. You can't assume that all products in a line are gluten-free--always read the label
  19. I second that emotion
  20. I most definately have had issues with Spectrum--both the oils and the solid shortening. I use either Carapelli or Phillipo Berio olive oil--extra light for cooking and baking, extra virgin for salads and flavoring.
  21. But interesting.... I'm looking forward to more PG-13 phacts from the now-teenaged Jack I've missed him 'round here!
  22. Well now Someone's pheeling a bit more chipper
  23. I forgot to address the aspartame question--I can't tolerate it or Splenda. Aspartime causes me GI distress, while Splenda caused neuro symptoms that were quite scary. When I gave them up (separately) I don't recall anything except feeling better--no withdrawl or anything. Have you considered a gene test?
  24. Janet, HIH did I miss this earlier? A couple things come to mind--I had a few joint problems prior to being diagnosed. Not an all-over type thing, but an extremely painful, swollen, and red joint in my thumb, and severe hip pain on the right side that made it difficult to turn over in bed in the morning. Both of those things eventually went away on...
