  1. Actually Judith, you pulled off the illusive stunt of inserting yer post in another person's (mine) quote! Tricky move! I invisiblized it fer ya
  2. Pheel better, Nik! Hip pain ain't phun Could it be yer sciatic nerve? Well, the boy's dryer made some awful screetching noises this morning, and seemed to be overheating. So...I piled two loads of washed but still wet laundry into the car and took it all to the laundermat. Luckily, I lived in this area fer years so I knew just where to go. I...
  3. Ahhhhhhh August can officially begin!!!! Hi Judith!!!! Lookin' forward to the pics, Em. Thought about you yesterday and told Matt all about yer dad and the tree
  4. One of the first times I tried to eat at a restaurant, when I mentioned gluten, the waiter gave it one of those deer in the headlights looks and said--glucose? Then, after I further explained, he said that the grill was very hot and would kill off anything that was left on it. <sigh> Then there's my mom, who thinks if she says that something...
  5. For me, it really does...I never re-apply it during the day, just after my shower in the morning. I don't know if brands vary, this is the only one I've used.
  6. I can't speak to the Herbal Clear since I've never used it but I use Thai Crystal. I've been using it for several years now and love it. There are no ingredients, it's just mineral salts. I get it at Whole Foods, and it lasts for months.
  7. I agree--they may not want to publicly use the word "disease". A few years ago, I saw Bill Clinton on Rachel Ray's show and he said he ate "gluten free snacks" when asked what he liked to snack on.
  8. I take Enjoy Life Trail Mix and Lara Bars everywhere--they don't need to be kept cool. Stax chips are good also since they come in the tube--the plain ones are dairy free. Fresh fruit, cut up bagged veggies. Bottled water, of course.
  9. Connie had oral surgery to have, if I remember correctly, several teeth removed.
  10. The first thing I thought when I read your post yesterday was--jeesh, why do these things always seem to happen on a Friday! I'm glad you won't have to be anxious about it all weekend.
  11. Best wishes for a speedy recovery!
  12. This happened to me too. I had to go back and have another film of the right side--they needed a clearer look because I had very dense breast tissue. Everything was fine, thank goodness, but I had the same sheer panic as you do now when I got the call. The nurse the day I went back told me that this happens sometimes. (((hug))) take a deep breath
  13. This is a subject I feel rather strongly about. I think it's none of anyone's business as to the reason for what any of us choose to do with our lives at any point. I was employed full time for 8 years before deciding to stay home and raise my two sons. It was a conscious decision, one that my husband and I agreed on. When the youngest was...
  14. I get it at Whole Foods.
  15. Another soda that uses cane sugar is Boylans--my favorite. I can't tolerate artificial sweeteners, and won't use anything with HFCS.
  16. I did too--I was just coming here to say that--Karen beat me to it.
  17. Oh Jan-it--she's still having symptoms? It's definitely tiresome to keep having to play detective with this stuff. It does make me wonder though, how many people who have things like migraines and other unexplained maladies actually are reacting to something they are eating/using/have in their enviroment. I wouldn't have ever thought of these things...
  18. Hey psills--I think I may have had a breakthrough. Remember when I was whining about shampoo and stuff--it seemed like everything was making me sick? Well, as you know I'm spending some time at Matt's. He does not have a dishwasher and uses the same dishwashing liquid I did--Clorox Greenworks. Bear wif me....I had been feeling off for a while before...
  19. Maybe try splitting your midday meal in to two smaller ones. I do much better snacking throughout the day than if I eat a big lunch.
  20. I don't think so either. When you think about it, we all have things that we only eat once in a while--like at holidays and such. Also, I've been retested twice by blood and had a repeat endoscopy in the 5 years I've been gluten-free, and while I react to trace amounts of gluten with unpleasast reactions, I have always tested in normal ranges with the...
  21. Thanks! I think sunflowers scream summer I think you are wise to stick to simpler, whole foods for a while. I'm 5 years gluten-free, and while I will have things like bacon or sausage once in a while my system is still much happier eating clean.
