  1. I hope things dry up soon so they can get working on it. We lucked out with the weather--it was a dry summer so the construction moved right along--actually came in a couple weeks ahead of schedule. The time went by so fast!
  2. That looks fabulous!
  3. Talked to her for a second yesterday--I hope the closing went/goes smoothly today--I guess it could still be happening now, come to think of it. I'll keep ya'll's posted.
  4. How is your in-laws' house coming along, Jan-it? I keep meaning to ask you about that.
  5. I see it at Kroger and other grocery stores right next to the Cream of Wheat. Nabisco doesn't make it anymore--the last couple of years it's made by B & G Foods. The last I checked, it was not made on dedicated lines.
  6. So phunny!! She scares me a little I watch "Biggest Loser" (actually watched is more like it since I've missed the past 2 weeks) That Jillian is a toughie! Glad she's on yer screen, Suz, and not right there yellin' at ya Mornin, Em Well, the sun is back after over 24 straight hours of rain!! Should be another de-lite...
  7. We're watching right now--at 7:27 central time, the little autistic kid gave his address as such and such Sawyer Ct.!!! Wonder where they got that name from I don't think that gives anything away......
  8. Before I was diagnosed, I frequently felt that I needed to take deep breaths and when I would answer the phone people would ask me what I was doing because I sounded out of breath. My doctor told me that was a symptom of anemia (I was quite anemic at the time).
  9. I drink at least 3 cups of Awake tea a day, and have never had an issue. Could be the caffeine as Janet suggested, or what you put into it for flavoring. Sometimes right after we go gluten-free, our systems become more sensitive for a while. Did you drink tea before being diagnosed? I would suggest a simple food diary for the next few weeks--that...
  10. I hope they come to Texas next--would love to check it out!
  11. This is such great news!!!!! I'm so glad you went. He sounds wonderful She must have been so happy to hear from you! Yes, thank goodness the move went smoothly You opened the phloodgates Twas much needed Yep--and I also had to rest after eating. Every night after dinner, I had to lay down for a few minutes and then...
  12. Really Jason, and we mean this sincerely. I hope you will seriously consider talking to someone about this. There's an old saying that goes something like--it's unrealistic to keep doing the same things and expecting a different result. I think it's time to try another approach. We'll always be here for you to bounce things off of as you move forward
  13. When I was avoiding dairy, I used vanilla almond milk. I used less, though--a little more than half the amount of evaporated milk called for.
  14. When you think about it, they say that 97% of Celiacs are undiagnosed......
  15. Given that the coffee is gluten-free, you should be fine. (If you use the microwaves, I would use a piece of paper towel between it and your food/container.)
  16. I make this a lot with large chunks for my husband and me. He is not gluten-free, but really likes chicken done this way. It's also excellent cold sliced over a salad--we use up the leftovers that way.....last night, as a matter of fact!
  17. Could you just imagine????? I mean, yer already one of us , but what if your small intestine was really on board ? When you do eat it away from home, do you feel odd or crampy or hot and sweaty, er sumphin after? Anemia was one of me first symptoms from years ago--stymied doctors-- and all the tests they did never did uncover a problem.......said it...
  18. I've never tried any store-bought chicken nuggets--I make them out of chunks of chicken breast coated with beaten egg and then rolled in a mixture of dried potato flakes mixed with garlic powder, salt and pepper. I put them in a non-stick foil-lined baking dish in which I've drizzled some light olive oil. Drizzle a little more oil over the tops and bake...
  19. Lynne, that is horrifying!
  20. The barley enzyme is used in the processing of the milk, not added to it, so it doesn't have to be listed as an ingredient. It's always been prepared the same way, and the label used to disclose this--the label has changed but they still use the barley (I verified this with a phone call to the company). I reacted to it, as many others here. I'm sure that...
  21. Wow! Definitely a good call. Are you gluten-free all the time, Nik, or just with the family?
  22. Sillies--I talked to Judith this morning. The movers are finishing up loading her stuff today after a long day of last minute packing and loading yesterday. She's holding it all together well between all of the good-byes and the stress of the move itself They will clean the house tomorrow, and the closing is scheduled for Friday--after that, they are...
  23. Yer sillies are here for ya, Em. It's so understandable that you would think about the loss of your dad on a day like today. As time goes on, the empty feeling will slowly be replaced with all of the wonderful memories of special days past. He's looking down today with a smile
