  1. Hi Autumn--I'm sorry you got glutened I avoid Wendy's now, too. The last time I ate there, they really tried. The manager, a lovely woman, came over and fixed everything herself--and I watched the whole thing. I had a baked potato--uncut into, and a plain burger in a plate. It all looked fine, but I got sick afterwards. There is just a high risk of...
  2. I have just put in a call to my allergist re--this medication. To be honest, I don't hold out much hope he will prescribe it for me, but I will give it a shot--nothing to lose!! I do respond to antihistimines--not just for the seasonal allergies (only 2 weeks out of the year for me, no big deal) but they have always had a calming effect on my stomach. ...
  3. Julie--Yes, give it a try! I use it in recipes like scalloped and mashed potatoes, to make ice cream, cocoa, and dry as a creamer in my tea! I buy it 3 cartons at a time, and it lasts quite a while. (It comes dry and you reconstitute it with water). I sound like a commercial for them sometimes, but it really did fill a void for me in terms of what I can...
  4. Rachel--Thank you so much for remembering all of that and posting it. It was very interesting and made a lot of sense. I'm sure that my mucus layer is pretty well shot, after years of undiagnosed Celiac. That's why I feel better, but have to be *extremely* careful of how I eat. I know immediately if I step out of bounds with it--both with gluten and my...
  5. Thanks, Nini--I was also happy to see this in the crawl across the bottom of the screen on CNN last night!
  6. I have to agree with Vincent--Vance's is really good. It has a consistancy closer to real milk. I'm very sensitive, and react terribly to rice and soy milks. I can use almond milk, but the flavor is a little too strong for use in many things. Vance's adapts well to any situation--try it
  7. Hi Tanya--I haven't posted on the thread in a while, but I read every day. My prayers are with you, Megan and your whole family--you are in my thoughts often.
  8. Wow, I don't think you are being too sensitive at all. While I think the above advice is good as far as saving the friendship, I would question whether I still felt the same way about the relationship. I have no idea what your friendship was like--if you talked about everything, were very close, etc. I would think that a friend of 20 years would at least...
  9. Hi--Can't help on the lunch meats, but I've cut grains and legumes (among other things--see my signature) out due to delayed food allergies. Let me know how I can help!
  10. I've given up a lot of foods--but I have to say that one of the hardest was peanut butter! I have just ordered a jar of Maranatha Raw Almond Butter (no stores around here have it) and hope that it will fill the peanut butter void I gotta have something to put on my apple slices...
  11. I was thinking some sort of bug/virus also. Last week, I was feeling the same way and was also nauseous. It didn't feel like my usual gluten/food reaction, but I chalked it up to that anyway. A few days later, my son came down with a stomach bug--that's obviously what I had! Anyway, I hope you feel better soon!
  12. That's so funny! (Don't think I haven't thought about it )
  13. The intestines also produce mucus in response to irritation. Most likely, the gluten reaction in yours are causing a lot of irritation and inflammation. Won't you be glad when this challange is over!
  14. How about that! We're going up there in a week and a half for my parent's 55th. anniversary. I haven't been up for quite a while--it's been a rough couple of years.
  15. Armetta--Someone posted this a while ago and I copied it down but have not tried it. It's for a soy sauce substitute-- 2 cups beef broth 2 teaspoons cider vinegar 1 teaaspoon molassas 1/8 teaspoon ground ginger dashes of pepper, onion powder and garlic powder Combine all ingredients in saucepan. Boil (gently) uncovered until reduced to 1/2 cup...
  16. Seedless or not--you have to spit out the seeds!!!!
  17. Well, I hope you're on to something--I just think that it is exhausting for our systems to have to deal with these foods that we're sensitive to. After a while, it catches up with us
  18. Po Folks!!! I used to love that place! My husband would go there and buy their sweet tea by the gallon. I think they have the best biscuits in the world!
  19. Hi Traci--No, it does not have any rice--it's grain free! Also soy and nut free, it's based on potatoes. Here's a link-- Open Original Shared Link I just noticed there is a temporary 2 carton limit--the word must be spreading
  20. Yep--Del Monte is gluten-free. Hope you're feeling better Lister
  21. You can put an avatar up no matter how many post you have. You need, I believe, 500 posts to do a custom member title (the words below your avatar). You need to crop your picture as much as possible, and keep trying as you go--that's what always works for me--I never get one to take the first time.
  22. When I use a band aid, the exact mark of the whole strip is visable on my skin for several days after I remove it! I don't have any itching or discomfort, though.
  23. Hi Nic--Just a gentile reminder that you posted this topic several times recently and there were several replies. Here is a link to your thread-- Open Original Shared Link It's not necessary to post the same topic more than once--just go back to the forum it's under, and check to see if anyone else has posted
  24. Armetta--That's great that you're enjoying the cooking (and eating!) I wouldn't be surprised at all if your energy level goes up as a result of cutting out corn. When I identified legumes and eliminated them completely, I noticed a definate difference in my fatigue. I was exhausted by 4PM every day (felt like I could go to bed and sleep all night)--now...
  25. Mango--you are from Syracuse, too? What a small world! I love chicken fried steak--my great-aunt introduced it to us years ago--she lived in Florida. Much later, we lived in Georiga for a while, and of course it was very common there. Not only did Chelsea and I go to the same high school and all, floridanative (Tiffany) actually lives in the same...
