  1. Rachel--What you described is acid reflux. The difference between acid reflux (or acid indigestion) and GERD is the frequency. If you get it more than twice a week, and it's persistant, they call it GERD. This can cause damage over time. Since it happened to you, but hasn't happened again, I think the prescription meds are way too much. As I posted,...
  2. My dr had me on Prevacid but I stopped after 3 weeks because of the side effects--the reflux was creeping back, and now that I've cut out the corn even further, it is better. I also find that I have to limit raw fruit. The middle of the night stuff is terrible--I hope you get relief soon
  3. I guess you can take us out of the 'cuse.....but....well, you know
  4. Chelsea--Did you get at least one of those abbreviations in Syracuse? The first one, I've used myself for many years
  5. If I can stick my nose in this for a second--I know I'm intolerant to corn, and I have been avoiding obvious sources for longer than I've been gluten-free. Just recently (the last week or so) I've gotten more strict with it. I have noticed a reduction in my reflux, as well as the gas . It's really worth it!
  6. OK--got it! Have a good walk, Molly
  7. Yes--the eyelash curler has got to go! (or clean it real good with alcohol )
  8. Armetta--I'm kind of in the same boat! I still don't feel comfortable being away from a bathroom for that long. Still have a bit of anxiety about certain things. But, it's getting better--slowly! Molly--I tried to contribute to your walk, too, but when I put your name in the search, I get nothing. Help!!
  9. Its not a matter of clearing gluten out, it's healing the damage that you already have. I'm 10+ months gluten-free, and while I've made good progress, I'm not there yet. It'll happen, it just takes time
  10. Hi Ravenwood--I'm sorry you're feeling down today. I had a day like that recently, and some very nice people here let me vent and get it out--and were so understanding. No one can see things from a positive angle all of the time--please don't expect that of yourself. You are human, and you have every right to grieve those things in your life that you miss...
  11. Bev--I think that's a very good idea
  12. Yea Ursula--I think it's deinately worth a try for her. Like I said, I have not had one sore throat in 10 months (the time I've been gluten-free). No more gaggging or feeling that there was something in my throat, either. (now, if I could say the same about my stomach....)
  13. There was a thread on this several months ago. That's where I found out what it was! I did have them from time to time--but have not had them again since going gluten-free. I've not even had a sore throat (knock wood!) At the time I was bothered by them, I also had a problem with feeling like I was going to choke when swallowing solids. I found it...
  14. I'm on board, too! Good luck out there
  15. Jenny--That's great news. Tom rules!!!!
  16. They really need to specify because in my email, they said "mascaras"--not just certain ones. I don't like this
  17. On the subject of Starbucks mocha and chocolate, there was a thread about it recently-- Open Original Shared Link
  18. I use their regular mascara--I was assured by them via email that it was gluten-free. I have it in 2 colors--and have not had a problem. I'm going to email them again and ask if this has changed, or if the wheat is only in certain types of mascara. Jeesh! (Thanks for the heads up!)
  19. Ha Rose--what a day you've had--feel better
  20. In general, a cake that will bake in a bundt pan will do just fine in a 13 by 9 rectangular pan. I would start checking on it after 25 minutes or so.
  21. Not to their apricots, but to their dates. I was thinking it was because dried fruit has so much fiber. But, I emailed them to ask about CC and processing, and twice I got back a form letter about their raisins. After the first one, I wrote back and explained that I was talking about the dates, and 2 days later, another response about the raisins. So...
  22. I just looked it up, too (I've been kind of curious)--perfect!!
  23. Dani--I'm so happy that you figured out the source of your lingering symptoms and are feeling so well! You've been through a lot with this thing Stay well!
  24. My spring allergies are killing me this year! Claritan is gluten-free. I've been using it for years--and am currently using it. My allergist gave me Zyrtek, but honestly, for me, the Claritan works and causes me no side effects so I prefer it.
  25. I still haven't gotten an ice cream maker yet! But I will. Vance's sent me a few ice cream recipes--I think one was strawberry and a couple others. Are these the ones you have? I know the ones I have use oil--
