  1. Rusla--Can you get Pacific Foods Rice Milk up there? That is gluten-free. I know I've read about a brand in Canada on here--Carrie (carriefaith), posted about it, if I remember correctly. I just did a quick search--it's Natura--soy, dairy and gluten-free.
  2. There is a person here--Peter (psawyer) who is an expert on this subjsct. Hopefully he will see your question--I'll bet he wouldn't mind if you PM'd him
  3. Another thing that may help--try taking out 2 tbsp. of the flour mix, and replace it with potato starch. I found it lightened up the batter somewhat.
  4. Dove solid chocolate Easter eggs are gluten-free.
  5. Thanks! Never would have thought of the lettuce. Wiil try and let you know if it works for me, too
  6. Ev--I eat the McCain's smily fries with no problem at all. I have not had tater tots, but Ore Ida hash browns, I believe, affected me. I stick to the McCains--any of their "blue bag" products have been fine for me. I always read the labels to make sure when trying a different one--and their customer service is very nice and helpful.
  7. Deb--In answer to your question, yes, I am 100% gluten-free. I eat at home, prepare my own food and am pretty much a fanatic about it--I'm super sensitive, and am really trying to get better. After 20 odd years, I'm sick of the whole thing! I do seem to have more problems with gas now--as well as with reflux. I am at a loss as to why--I have cut grains...
  8. Hi Julie--Welcome! I have naturally curly hair, too. Mine is not long anymore--the last couple of years before my diagnosis, it began seriously falling out. Good news--it's filling back in, but I've had it cut so the areas will blend better. The products I used before--John Frieda and Ojon to name 2, have gluten or won't commit to being gluten-free. ...
  9. Deb--I have the same thing--and I find it strange, too. Now that I'm eating no gluten or anything else that bothers me, why now? I will never figure this whole thing out .
  10. Yea--it definately focuses on the neurologic symptom--although they do have doctors talking more about Celiac towards the end of the segment. I think it would be interesting for anyone here--each individual story is only 20 min. long--they did 3, if I remember correctly, on this episode. I plan on tivo-ing the "Fatal Diet" episode--it sounds good! ...
  11. Tiffany--Thanks for letting us know--I've never seen GFL, but was planning on looking at the WF up in Princeton. I go there sometimes--I usually go to the one in Marlton, which is smaller. I know what you mean--it does look like they may be in trouble. Hope not. At any rate, I hope you get a refund for the issues you never received!
  12. It was ok--it was the story of a little boy, who would go into a trance-like state. The gluten was affecting him that way, and even though his mom is a Celiac, he was not tested for quite a while. Once off gluten, he thrived, and is fine today. His story is very atypical--I didn't even realize they were talking about Celiac at the beginning. On the same...
  13. They will be airing "Like Mother Like Son" on April 9, at 1PM--this was the Celiac episode that has been on before. The "Lethal Diet" sounds good--I wonder if it will also involve Celiac?
  14. I use Mc Cormicks pure vanilla extract--it is gluten-free. There are other brands that are safe, but you can never make a sweeping statement like 'all such and such is gluten-free'--you have to read labels and/or call to be sure.
  15. Oh Erin--We can relate . When I saw your topic, I had to laugh because I know exactly how you felt. One time I got up to go into the bathroom to "relieve"it, and it happened anyway as I was walking--I had held it in so long, I couldn't control it. One of the many joys of being a Celiac
  16. Yea--it has a way of doing that. Fell better!
  17. My favorite is Oscar Mayer
  18. Kasey's mom--I will be looking forward to see how the ice cream recipe goes--it's been a long time since I've had ice cream (sorbets are good, but not the same). I see you use it for soups--I am thinking I can use it then for scalloped potatoes--very possibly tonight w/chicken! Thanks again for all of your good ideas
  19. Per serving=70 calories and 0 fat.
  20. I scored high on the dust mites, too. The allergist suggested I encase my mattress and pillows in a dust proof casing. I did so, and believe it is helping a bit. If you get them, get a very good quality--the less expensive ones are noisy and crinkily.
  21. It was a godsend for me only because I can't tolerate soy or rice milks. I can do almond milk, but because of the nutty taste, it's not suited to certain things. Not that I was a milk drinker to begin with! It is just perfect for me for the times I need a creamy ingredient. Now, if they would just carry it in more stores....
  22. It's on the way!! Let me know when you get it
  23. I've got 2 in my pantry--I'll be happy to send you one (seriously).
  24. Urgent diarrhea Cramping Nausea Severa anemia--Lightheadness/fainting Neck/hip pain Anxiety/depression Brain fog/problems with concentration Tingling/numbness--face, left arm, lower legs and feet Weight loss--regained on gluten free diet Gas/stomach rumbling Since 7 months gluten-free--reflux, severe enough to cause bronchial spasms (diagnosed...
  25. Debmidge--I don't think it tastes exactly like milk--but I like it very much. It (to my taste) is a bit sweeter than milk. The thickness (texture) is more like regular whole milk. It is great for things that you don't mind adding a little bit of sweetness to. Sometimes I use it dry--like a non-dairy creamer in my hot tea. It makes it nice and creamy...
