  1. Leah, I sort of think that it may be okay to bake with a dusk mask. Mind you, I have no idea how small the particles will be that are in the air, and if a dusk mask would keep them out. What has me concerned is, that fine particles will stay in the air for up to 24 hours. I wouldn't want to wear a dusk mask for that long, would you? Because it would either...
  2. I'd love your lists! PM on the way. Thanks for offering, that's sweet of you.
  3. Well, if these are the real values for a real person, then it is fairly obvious this person has celiac disease, as the IgG and IgA are extremely high.
  4. With oral allergy syndrome you definitely DON'T get aching lungs and postnasal drip. What you may get is just a sore throat, fuzzy/yucky feeling in your mouth and on your tongue, or stinging, even, possibly swollen lips (I get all those with various foods). Be careful with oral allergy syndrome. If you still eat those foods, you may end up with a serious...
  5. Valentine's Day I baked my husband a heart-shaped cake with wheat flour, and was sick with the usual gluten symptoms for a week! NOBODY is now allowed to bake with regular flour in this house. Either they have to go somewhere else to bake, or buy the cake. It sucks, but is necessary. You may want to just make your kids gluten-free pancakes, they may not...
  6. Vincent, those scores look great, he sounds like a very normal, sweet toddler now (and looks like an angel). You must be ecstatic.
  7. Valda, just talking to a server is usually not enough anyway. It is much better to call ahead of time and talk to a manager. You see, a manager will really feel responsible for your welfare. When I still thought that only gluten was a problem and went out (I don't bother now), I had the assistant manager of the restaurant look after me personally. He went...
  8. I suggest you do what I did. I eliminated all lectins for a while, and then tried one group at a time to see if I'd react to them (two weeks apart so you don't miss delayed reactions). You may not be intolerant to all of them, or at least not for good. You can still eat all fruits, most vegetables, nuts and seeds, all meat, and you can bake with non-grain...
  9. You know, that is impossible to answer. Because you may get as many different opinions as there are people, since everybody is different. Sometimes mine is 'normal', and sometimes it isn't . I never get the completely watery diarrhea any more, that sounds like I am peeing (that's the way it was for six months last summer). Sometimes I have well formed...
  10. Testing for the gene would be accurate, even before the baby is born (which of course nobody would want to do). It's the testing specifically for celiac disease that isn't reliable. The reason is, of course, that small children haven't had celiac disease long enough, and those tests aren't sensitive enough, to have enough damage to test positive a lot...
  11. You only specified wheat, what about the rye and barley? Also, there are some pretty ignorant people out there, who seriously think that white flour is NOT wheat.
  12. I've heard from a couple of mothers I know that chiropractic adjustment helped, their kids were unable to feel when they had to go. Once their spine was adjusted, their nerves functioned properly and they were trained within a day. Also, try rewards. When I trained my kids (and my daughter did the same thing), I'd give them a couple of Smarties (substitute...
  13. They do show up, just at the very back of the board until a moderator looks at your post, approves it, makes sure it is in the right forum and pins it, which will then bring it to the front of the forum. You can always find new posts, pinned or not, by clicking on 'View New Posts'.
  14. It sure sucks when your diet is so restricted. You sound like you may be intolerant to lectins. If you'd eliminate them all for a while, your energy level might improve. Check my lectin link in my signature for more information. The bananas could be a problem because of high carb level, and/or mold I am told. Because even though theoretically I shouldn...
  15. I just googled vitamin E, as I had no clue where they get the supplement form of it. And your assumption that it's made from wheat germ oil may very well be correct, as it appears to have more vitamin E than anything else they list! Check this link: Open Original Shared Link I would never have thought that vitamin E in lotions, shaving creme etc. could...
  16. Here is a wikipedia quote: Meaning, spelt is a type of wheat and not gluten free.

Hi, and welcome to our board. Well, IBS is a junk 'diagnosis', basically meaning that the doctor is clueless as to what makes you sick. How long have you been gluten-free? Testing after going gluten-free is pretty much meaningless, as you are more likely than not getting false negatives then. Unless you're being tested by Enterolab (Open Original Shared...
  18. Wobenzym N is supposed to be one of the absolute best. I had to stop taking it, because it has enzymes from pineapples, and those are high in salicylates. Meaning, it was helping my stomach but caused muscle aches. Now, it gave me a stomach ache when taken before meals, but really helped when taken right after a meal. And somebody in town with celiac...
  19. Karen and Patti, I used to get horrible rashes from those products, and don't have that problem now that I am using fabric pads. You should look into getting fabric pads/panties etc., or sew your own. It's not as convenient, but so worth it.
  20. Right now (until 4:00) the medic alert site isn't accessible, so I couldn't go and look. But I know you order right from the site, I've done it (from the Canadian site, of course). You have to become a member at the same time, since they keep your info, so doctors or medics can call them for details, doctor's phone no. etc. I'll have another look later, when...
  21. Mike, the biggest problem is, that it adds up. If you use it once in a while, you might be okay, but three times a day is too much. And since you use it every day..............it probably isn't a good idea. I think you will never get 100% better if you constantly have low levels of gluten in your body. By the way, why do you take beano with every meal...
  22. Thanks, Tiffany. But I have no idea what you mean with a 'london broil'. And what kind of marinade do you use?
  23. Excellent, informative article.
  24. I have multiple medical problems, and just got a new medic alert bracelet. I think to get one just for celiac disease is a good idea for children, as people will take their gluten intolerance much more serious if they wear one, I think. I would just have on it: "Celiac disease, intolerant to wheat, rye, barley, oats", so that people who don't know what...
  25. Tom, some people don't get any apparent symptoms at all when eating gluten, but the damage to their intestine is still occurring. I think it's almost better if you get really sick when eating gluten, because it will make you more careful, and you'll always know when you've eaten something wrong. Since tiny amounts of gluten don't make you sick, you just...
