  1. First, I'm so glad that those with a Nima are sharing their experiences! I think it's helpful to us all and now I want one! Second, Gemini...I'm so jealous of your trip to London. One of my favorite vacations ever was a trip there with my mom. You're so lucky...have a great time! Also, take me with you? I promise I won't be any trouble and then...
  2. I'm so sorry that happened to you. (((((Hugs))))). I was glutened by Outback too, about 3 months after diagnosis. It was terrible and a huge setback for me. I'm sorry that it happened to you too.
  3. I am so sorry that you are going through this and are scared. ((((Hugs)))) Sometimes it does seem to be that when it rains, it pours. I've been there too. Try to be positive and take good care of yourself this weekend. Eat nourishing food and do things that relax you. I love yoga and Epsom salt baths for that. I hope your test goes well, do...
  4. It was 15 with the range being 15-150. I would get short of breath climbing stairs and things like that. Getting it into the mid 20s solved that for me though. Have you talked to your Dr about the shortness of breath? It's quite scary.
  5. Mission corn tortillas are good. Tostitos scoops and Lay's are gluten free. Lots of sweets are gluten free...I have to avoid soy as well so I stick with Enjoy Life and Sun Cups. I also bake sweet treats. I eat Planters cashews with no problems. When my ferritin was low I would get shortness of breath.
  6. Mine are normal, but I don't want to use anything with gluten in it near my mouth.
  7. So cool! Thank you for sharing! I'm sad about the Olay too as that's what I use.
  8. Hi Jherm! Good for you going back and getting thyroid treatment...hope that starts kicking in soon and you get some relief. It can be hard to get enough calories with just whole foods, it was for me too. Highly caloric whole foods that can help are avocados and nuts. You can add in nut or seed butters for some good calories. Also, add in more...
  9. Great job! Congratulations! ?
  10. Hi Jherm and welcome to the board! I totally get how you feel. When I was diagnosed I felt so alone in it...like no one else got it. And then I found this board. ? It takes time, as everyone has said, more time than you'd think. All my doctor told me was eat gluten free and you'll be fine. It took quite a while to feel fine. I'm just past 3 years...
  11. Hi Rob! I love Better Batter! I use it for all of my baking needs unless a recipe calls for gum free flour. This weekend I made soft pretzels with it and they were great! Glutenfreeonashoestring is a great recipe source for gluten free baking. That is where I first heard about Better Batter. Canyon Bakehouse bagels I am obsessed with...seriously...
  12. Tessa is right...an endoscopy is used to diagnose celiac. Even if you had that in 2009, a lot can change in 8 years. You could have developed it since. The best place to start is getting a full celiac panel done, as Tessa listed above. Keep eating gluten until the testing is complete. You don't need a lot, a slice or 2 of bread a day or the equivalent...
  13. Hi Cristina and ((((hugs)))) What a time you've had. I'm so sorry. Do continue to eat some gluten every day and take the list of celiac tests to the appointment with you. I find that if I bring a printed out list like that with me then I'm much less likely to forget to ask for the tests. You are not alone in this. I was tested for MS as well...
  14. Awww JMG...I'm sorry you've been paid a call by those old friends of yours. Tell them to go away! Seriously though, it's so frustrating when one gets glutened and has no idea what the source is. Last year, on vacation, I was glutened and so very sick. I still have no idea what got me. A daily food journal is a great idea. I've kept one for ...
  15. Hi Sara, Thank you! I can't believe it's been 3 years...so crazy. The first time I was glutened I was devasted...I remember it really well. You will continue to learn and things will get easier and easier as you go along. As diligent as you are, I have no doubt that you will beat that record quite soon. ? I hope you get more responses as well...
  16. 1. Once you started the Gluten Free Diet (GFD), how long did you go before your first involuntary glutening? 1.5 months 2.) How many times were you glutened your first year? 3 3.) How long do your symptoms last once you've been glutened? Gut symptoms for a week, other symptoms for a month or more. 4.) How long have you been on...
  17. That's amazing! Good job! ?
  18. Hi Fbmb! I lost 35 pounds in the first 6 months after diagnosis and going gluten free. I think I had so much inflammation from untreated celiac as my size did not correspond in any way to how much I ate. For a while I was happy with the weight loss, but it got to a point where I was really ready for it to stop. I looked at what I was eating.. at the...
  19. Hi Sara, I have Hashimotos and was on levothyroxine for years. About 2 years ago, after my celiac diagnosis, I started having lots of thyroid related issues. My endocrinologist switched me to Levoxyl and everything seemed to level out. I've done better on it overall and have even had to reduce my dosage. I hope it works for you as well!
  20. Hi Lindsey! Yes, the celiac panel is a set of blood tests...cyclinglady's link is great. If you haven't already, call your gastro doc to see if these tests were ordered. If they weren't, ask your GP to order them this week. The results should be back before your biopsy and you will have more information to determinew what's going on. Your new...
  21. Hi Lyndsey and (((((hugs)))))! I can identify with a lot of your symptoms. Mine got really bad after the birth of my daughter as well. Right before diagnosis I was convinced I was dying. I was in so much pain all the time, terrible vertigo and headaches daily, body aches, diarrhea all day. It was awful. Finally my doctor tested for celiac and there...
  22. That sounds delicious!
  23. Goodness, this sounds tough. Big ((((hugs)))) I agree with others that for now eat very bland, easy foods. When I've been glutened I go straight to chicken cooked all day in the crockpot, boiled potatoes, very well steamed carrots or asparagus. Maybe rice and bananas. But that's it. I will eat that for days until things calm down. I also drink...
  24. I know!! I'm addicted now, unfortunately my whole family is too. I have to get more today...don't want to run out of the yummy!
  25. At the store last week I saw a new bagel...for me at least...Canyon Bakehouse plain bagels. Bought them, took them home, toasted one...omg...yummy and chewy. So much better than the other gluten free bagels I've tried. It's been almost 3 years, so maybe I've forgotten what good bagels are like? But to me, these are so good!! My 16 year old gluten eater...
