  1. Similar here, Laura. Bam. Bam. Bam. I see why you have a printout to take with you. How often are your rheumatology numbers retested?
  2. Were you diagnosed with lupus first or celiac? Do you feel the gluten-free diet has helped your lupus? What is common variable immunodeficiency? Thank you. What do you take instead of plaquenil?
  3. Kirsten - I'm pretty much down to plain meat, fruits and vegetables. I was told tonight that recent blood work confirms that I also have lupus. So this could be why. I've been beyond diligent with my diet. I have been tested for deficiencies and was tested for more earlier this week. We'll see how they look. My Vit D was real low in the fall as well as my...
  4. My rheumatologist called me earlier to tell me that my blood work confirmed lupus and that I needed to start plaquenil immediately. (200mg twice a day) I was diagnosed with celiac's just over 5 months ago and have been 100% gluten free. Just sharing my update, I guess. If anyone has any advice feel free to share. Especially if you take plaquenil...
  5. How your endoscopy/scope been scheduled? I'm glad you are starting to get some answers. Hope your scope is scheduled soon so you can go completely gluten free and get on the road to feeling better.
  6. I also wonder if you've been tested and diagnosed with Celiac's. If so, it can take quite a while for symptoms to improve! Hope the doctor/dentist can help determine if you need something else for your tongue.
  7. Currently just over 5 months gluten free with some symptoms getting worse during healing process. Also new symptoms which might be related to rheumatology. Out of curiosity, did anyone else notice symptoms being much worse just before your monthly cycle arrived or also perhaps around the time your body was trying to ovulate? If so, did that get better...
  8. Yes, I believe it is possible. I've never shared pictures on here but there is an icon that says image. You can try that way. I hope you feel better soon.
  9. I'm glad you've made an appointment. Hope it isn't too far away. Make sure they run the full celiac panel. Some doctors don't for some reason. I'm sorry last night was so rough. Hope you can sleep tonight. Since you have been eating gluten you should continue for testing purposes. For me - my numbers were all high from the initial blood work. My endoscopy...
  10. I hope you can get an appt soon. Definitely could be celiac's. ( Could your thyroid issue be off? I don't know much about thyroid/symptoms that go with it) Get that blood work drawn though - then endoscopy would be the next step. Make sure they draw the full celiac blood panel. Keep us posted!
  11. Sounds like you should definitely ask your doctor to run the complete celiac panel for you. How long has this been going on?
  12. Just read this thread and it sounds like you've been through so much. I don't want to comment to much on your report findings because I consider myself to be still learning about all this but like the others mentioned above it seems like you are gluten intolerant regardless of the outcome. I'd be curious to see how your numbers look after 3-6 months completely...
  13. Nicole, Did you ever have any kind of rash on your face? So glad your flare ups have not been as bad as in the past.
  14. That is great to hear she is off most of her medication! Sounds like she has been through a lot. How often do you go to your rheumatologist? How often do they retest you? My doctor mentioned seeing my eye doctor about 2-3 weeks after starting the medication. I was at my eye doctor's in October. Perhaps that was soon enough for baseline exam? Not...
  15. I don't know of a text version but I just use my phone for basic testing. I don't have any apps or anything. Just send her the full panel. I hope she can get in to the doctor fairly quickly and have some answers soon. Is she going to have her children tested also?
  16. Sorry about the soy. Hope you feel better soon.
  17. Thank you, IrishHeart for sharing the article. I called my GI doc yesterday. Her nurse called me back today. She basically said that she was fine with me starting plaquenil. She said she did not yet receive any rheumatology blood results but would review them when they came in. I'm with you, I know I have celiac disease but definitely left that appt feeling...
  18. Sorry guys... I've read all the replies and appreciate them. Normally I'd respond right now but am just not doing well today. Will re-read them and respond tomorrow. Thank you for all the support. I've felt lost all day.
  19. I haven't tried them. Saw them in the store recently though and thought they'd be good to have in the house for the kids. A treat for them and safe for me to be around. Let us know what you think, if you try them.
  20. I'm so confused right now. I had a rheumatologist appt yesterday. He told me he thinks I have lupus and told me to start taking plaquenil right away. He took 12 tubes of blood and results should be back in a week. He also said that lupus could cause villi atrophy. He saw my celiac blood work and confirmed biopsy in the file. Last week my celiac panel was...
  21. Yay! That is fantastic news! (can you have a scoop of ice cream for me? )
  22. It can be hard during this road to find a supportive doctor. Seems so many of us experience that. I would think that you could easily be intolerant without those tests showing positive. I'm new to all of this still though. I hope staying gluten free continues to be good for you and eliminating your other food allergies, too. (Rice!) And you aren't...
  23. Has anyone experience symptoms of the above auto immune diseases, or any others, during your first few months after diagnosis/on a gluten-free diet and actually in the end not had those other diseases?
  24. Thank you. I appreciate that. I will have to check out culturelle!
