Same problem here, and since going gluten-free 3 months ago, I just noticed I smell better! I used to shower in the am and before bed. I also noticed my urine was really stinky. That has gone too. Weirder and weirder
I am not alone! My urine smelled so bad it would almost make me sick. It was a strange smell. I had a shower at least twice a day then. Now the only time it happens is when I am glutened.

Many drugs such as heroin, cocaine, crack etc. They are cut with numerous things such as: cornstarch, sugar, flour, some have been known to cut them with cleanser and other nasty substances. So, needless to say I wouldn't be taking them.

Has anyone checked out the new Gluten Free for Dummies book? I was wondering if it was worth it to order it from Amazon.
I've been gluten free since Feb. and have pretty much figured it out. Just wondering if there is anything worthwhile in this new book.
Thanks
I wonder if it would help people who just don't get it that we have problems with.

Yes, Unilever will list everything that is in it as I have spoken with them personally. Actually 2 different people called me back to assure me of it.
-
I have never seen the first two eggs up here. It was the ones on the bottom that come in the bag that got me.

I have been gluten-free since November 28, last year. For me the change in my bowels was within the first week. Then realizing after a month that I did not get up 8 times a night to pee, which I had done my whole life. I won't say I feel perfect but I am not as tired as I was except when I get accidentally glutened. I feel better than I have in a long time.
When I used to bend over I would get terrible cramps in my abdomen I would almost pass out. Since being glutenfree that has not happened.
I am starting back walking, before I was too tired to ever do it and having been a previous race walker it destroyed me. Gluten and Thyroid took me so far from what I was 8 years ago it was not funny. I have lost about 35 pounds since being gluten-free. It has only been less than 5 months. I am looking forward to feeling better, better.

That is for sure. I am up and down with the Synthroid however, being gluten free has been a benefit in losing weight.

Probably you could teach your dog to fly eaier. Anyway the doctors no more believed me about my thyroid because of the tsh test than they did about Celiac. I however proved them wrong with my anibodies which were 3.5 times higher for Hashimotos Hypothyroidism and the ultrasound which showed nodules on my thyroid. It is very commong how thyroid and Celiac are best friends. However, they are not our friends.

Somewhere I read that the eggs were not gluten-free like the regular shaped reese peanut butter cups. At the store tonight the ingredients read the same so I wonder if they both are gluten-free. Anyone know? I am going to call them tomorrow.
These are made by Hershey and Hershey will name anything that has wheat/gluten in them or made in a facility that does wheat products. When the eggs first came out I bought a bag, boy was I sick from them. Of course I read the bag and it never mentioned wheat but a week later the new bags were out and they did read wheat. Also the Caramilk eggs have wheat in them.
So yes, these do have wheat in them, unfortunately. However, Turtles and Turtles eggs are wheat/gluten-free.

When I was in Amaranth the other day, dropping more money than a drunken sailor. I discovered cones for ice cream cones. Now, I was never an ice cream fanatic but I had a hankering for an ice cream cone so I bought the cones. Well they aren''t cheap but not that bad either 24 cones for about $13.00. Well these cones made by Barkat are very good. You would never know they are gluten-free.
As for chocolate bars; Toblerone, Hershey, Reeses cups, Caramilk.

Does anyone know of a product line that caters to natural curly hair and is gluten free? I have really long thick curly hair and it is always a challenge to find hair products that work for my hair type, now the added challenge to find them gluten free.
Anyone with a similar hair type that uses something they like? I would love to hear.
Also, is wheat germ oil as a product ingredient safe?? I wonder if the oil has different properties than wheat itself.
Welcome to the board Julie. You can get Bumble and Bumble they are only in select salons and they are expensive. There is also some stuff out by Redken. Mine only became curly because of my thyroid.

I had negative blood but positive skin biopsy.

Alrighty then, I think flax seed would be good
How an egg substitute and rice milk. How about soy or rice cream.

Buy the corn tortillas. You can find those most places.

Good for you Nicole on getting back on the diet. I sure that goes away soon, I can really relate to having a rash there. I have had one there before many times. I found sticking to this better the second time around, especially when I get really sick from just a few crimes.

Hi Brian--welcome to the group. This is a great place for support and to learn a lot of things. I would definitely say go gluten-free but you need to be completely gluten free. That means no oats, rye, wheat, barley, spelt, kamut in anything and that includes shampoos, conditioners, hair gels, lotions etc. You need to be very diligent with these things and watching for what does have hidden gluten in them. Soy sauce is one such item, yet you can find gluten-free Tamari soy sauce, You will need to be at least gluten-free a couple of months if not longer . Although many people see differences almost immediately, everyone is different.
I can so understand you reluctance to go back and fight the doctors. Many of us here had done an uphill battle for 25 even 30 years and continue to have the battle. However, if we can help one person on here not to suffer as much as we have then we consider it successful. Going gluten-free you have nothing to lose and much to gain.

Hey Rusla,
I LOVE your new signature!!!!
Hugs.

Thanks Karen. I think we can use gluten a scape goat for everything.

Radman,
What kind of gluten free bun was it?
When I have hamburgers, I use Kinnikinnick, but not the buns, I use their english muffins. Believe it or not, they are delicious! Keep them frozen and just take one out when you need it. What you do is nuke it for 50 seconds, then cut it in half, then you can either toast it or put it in the toaster oven and toast just lightly. It is incredibly moist and fluffy. My personal favourite is having it with lunch meat and cheese, but a hamburger goes just fine also!!!
As for the coke, all I can say is, smart man.
Motorcycles and beer and/or liquor don't mix!
Take care,
Karen
I was wondering how those English muffins tasted.I almost bought them up at Amaranth the other day.I know Kinnickinnik's bagels are great. Now, I know the English muffins are good
also.
Radman,
Were these your cave dwelling buddies you riding bikes with? Obviously coke is not considered wimpy. Alcohol does not go with great operation of motor vehicles, just like Karen said. Of course I had to dodge a drunk this morning on my way to work at 0400. It was really scary, he almost ran me off the road three times.

I would have to agree that, many times I feel like I miss pizza the most. I thought for sure I would miss chocolate cake. However, their pizza may temporarily smell enticing but I think of all the pain that goes with that pizza. I know I can go home and make my own pizza qith goat cheese and it will taste a lot better than their pizza. Not only that but I can enjoy it knowing I will not suffer once I eat my pizza.
-
I use the hard shells but not the seasoning and salsa. I make my own that way I save myself any pain.

Brain fog, the bane of my existence. Up until the time I had pernicious anemia and my mind starting taking a hike, I could spell any word for any one. They wouldn't even use the dicitionary, they would ask me. Since then I forget where I am, I can't spell for me, that is very distressing. I hope someday, being gluten-free that, I can get all of that back.

Rusla--Can you get Pacific Foods Rice Milk up there? That is gluten-free. I know I've read about a brand in Canada on here--Carrie (carriefaith), posted about it, if I remember correctly.
I just did a quick search--it's Natura--soy, dairy and gluten-free.
Terrific! Thanks bunches. I have seen Natura not sure about pacific but will check it out.

Yep I used rice milk. It worked really well
What type of rice milk did you use. I know rice dream has gluten in it, so I was hoping we might have what you used up here.
Half a cup of chocolate chips is nothing. I would use a couple of cups at least.
-
They were corn, but it had taco seasoning with it along with salsa! I used them both...
Good possibilities that the salsa or the seasoning had gluten in it, I would give them a call tomorrow and ask them. Make sure you ask them if they are made in a facility that produces wheat products.

There isn't enough of anything anywhere. Most of all we want it to taste good. More of everything especially education on the subject so that others know what this is and how we suffer. More education for doctors on this also.
