  1. I've had the taste for some ravioli or tortellini and can not find any gluten free varieties. Does ANYONE have any ideas???? This fall one of my projects is to start working on a gluten-free toasted ravioli, which I am going to ahve to make from scratch, I'm sure that will be a costly experiment, but I am going to be seriously deprived if I can't ever...
  2. I'm still figuring out a lot of these things, but for Pancakes I have to say the Pamela's baking and pancake mix is the best Muffins...homemade banana chocolate chip from Namaste mix......eating them fresh now......can't keep the kids out of them!!!! Brownies...Namaste by far the best!!! Cookies...Pamela's Brownie mix made into cookies...YUM...
  3. I was exactly wher you are with things about 7 months ago. Worried about other people thinking I am a nuuty fruitcake when I don't have a positive test. But I had been unknowingly eating a very very low gluten diet for years....... I ate gluten with everymeal for a week before my blood tests. I was sick sick sick sick sick. There is no way I could do...
  4. Saz's.but I think it is only local
  5. I used to be more heat intolerant like that. It seems better for me now though. High humidity and heat still get to me, but moving from Houston helped with the humidity issues. When I was pregnant with my last baby I developed a rash similar to the one you are describing. It covered my ear, side of my face, neck, shoulders and upper arm. I couldn...

    ARCHIVED Taco Bell?

So the beef is probably what did me in......ugh.....I have been so good for so long and 2 little bites.....yuck A few more days I guess and then I will be abck to normal hopefully. I hate this feeling....to think I lived with it for so long, not knowing. I think from now on I will just get the rice with cheese, tomato and lettuce. It's good to know...
  7. I would not trust cheese dips at restaurants generally. If it comes from something pre-packaged I would be very nervous about eating it. Personally I don't eat cheese dips anymore unless I make it. When at a restaurant I go for the guacamole or salsa, no more cheese dip for me....

    ARCHIVED Taco Bell?

Kids wanted Taco Bell yesterday and so I stopped there for lunch. Not sure I made the best choices for me though. The manager dragged (drug?) several boxes up front so I could read ingredients before ordering. I ended up with the chicken fiesta bowl without chicken or sauce, but I did eat the red tortilla strips, which from the website, is what did it...

    ARCHIVED Chili's

Chili's is, so far, the only restaurant I have eaten at that has been extremely accomodating and safe for me to eat at. I have always gotten the grilled chicken fajitas without tortillas and using unmarinated chicken. Today I had some time to talk to the manager and asked him about the chips. I have eaten them and been fine in the past and I know that...
  10. Funny that Nicole mentions AS, that is what my first doctor suspected I have, but since all my blood tests were inconclusive then too and I did have visible swelling in other areas they, for insurance purposes, just list me as some form af RA. Been dealing with that for 10+ years. Then along comes this gluten thing. I had been avoiding a lot of bread/pasta...
  11. yep, same here......I would still like to know exactly what I have, but for now I just tell someone I have discovered I am gluten intolerant, like being lactose intolerant. And I found out around Halloween last year, I can definetly tell when I accidentally eat gluten now. In the past month I have decided I really need to watch it closer. My rhuematoid...
  12. I ate the fruit from the meal that was packaged seperately and my own nuts and etc. didn't trust anything else they offered.

    ARCHIVED Steroids?

I use prednisone aabout every 6 weeks for arthritis flare ups. as long as I don't stay on it for long periods of time I have never had a big problem with it. I am usually not on them for longer than a week. My dad was on Prednisone for years and he abused it a lot, took way more than prescribed and shrunk 8 inches in one year, and had that red puffy...
  14. no can do onions here too......love 'em but they do not love me back and re-hydrated are the worst.....oooohhhhh nasty
  15. My Grandpa suffered from Narcolepsy.....no fun. Anyway, from what I know it doesn't seem to have any relationship to Celiac.....I'm pretty sure it is not an auto-immune disease, like everything else that seems to be associated with Celiac. Good luck
  16. INSIST on a numbing cream that they put on the site where they draw the blood. DO NOT let them draw blood until it has sat on her skin for at least 15-20 minutes. It is the only way when that age and is not traumatic at all. My son had to have several tubes drawn when he was in K, they put a liberal amount of the cream on his skin, covered it with a bandage...
  17. that is so strange......the back, neck, shoulders thing. I was originally diagnosed with Ankylosing Spondylitis by my first Rhuematologist b/c my back/neck/shoulders only hurt when I would lie down to rest or if I sat too long etc. I also had swelling in a few joints so he thought it could also be RA, which is what I tell people, b/c if I say AS they look...
  18. #4 for gluten free pantry... A friend and I tried 3 different crusts at Christmas, this was the flakiest and yummiest of them all.
  19. I had unknowingly been eating very little gluten for years, after I found out about gluten and just looked at what I was eating without changing a thing, I realized that I could go several days without eating gluten. I always knew that too much bread made me feel icky, but never heard of gluten or Celiac and so I just thought it was too "heavy". Anyway...
  20. Bananas, frozen strawberries, can of pears with juice and a cup of plain yourt. yum!!!
  21. my Ra has improved, but when I eat gluten on accident, it flares up. I am dealing with it now actually....still figuring out the gluten-free stuff and ate some Snickers Popables at the theater last week. All Snickers products are NOT gluten-free......spent 3 days wondering what in the world I ate and didn't even think of that. OH WELL....... So, yes...
  22. the no pain you mentioned kind of gets me, but sometimes when my Rhuematoid Arthirits flares up it doesn't necessarily hurt, just a hard to move the joint affected. And it always gets better as I use it and as the day goes on. And I have begun to notice that when I get glutened my RA flares up. So it could be along those lines.....
  23. thats what I use, they are awesome!!!
  24. Thanks for that insight, there seems to always be the possiblity of some CC, even if it is minut(sp???add the e??)..... and i worked fast food in my high school years, so I really am not trying to put anyone down, its just not something most McD workers are going to be concerned with or even remotely knowledgeable on, and not just McD, but any fast food...
  25. lonewolf.... I did, but they spread a lot and lost most of their shape. My recipe doesn't require refridgeration, so I am thinking maybe if I jsut refrigerate it before then it may hold it's shape...the first batch didn't spread as much as the second/third batch, so I am really thinking that was it, jsut been too busy to try again...
