  10. I don't believe it is accurate to say the CASEIN intolerance will go away. I believe the lactose one possibly would. Lactose intolerance is a sensitivity to milk sugar, whereas caseiin intolerance is sensitivity to the milk protein.   11. People rarely have just one allergy or sensitivity. I thought for my entire life (56 years!) that milk was a problem. I thought for 25 years that I was lactose intolerant because that got a fair amount of press time and there was a product to help it (lactaid tablets etc.).   12. I had NAET testing done a number of years ago, just out of curiosity, and before I got a definitive celiac diagnosis. The NAET did not identify either wheat or casein as a problem for me, whereas in realty, they are the two things responsible for most of my symptoms.
  13. I'd really recommend the Enterolab full panel test. It's $369, and I THINK some insurance co's might help with it. Still, even if you pay for it all yourself, you can learn a lot. It tests for the genes, so right off you can learn if you have one of the celiac genes, a gluten sensitivty one, or perhaps both. Then you'll at least know if you have a predisposition...
  14. The 0302 gene is one of the celiac genes. Therefore, at the very least you have a predisposition to celiac. I'm guess your 0301 gene is a gluten sensitive one. So you seem to have an even higher predisposition to something going on with gluten, either now or in the future. Your antigliadinIgA was "normal" and so was the Transglutaminase IgA. However...

  19. Enterolab says they can detect antibodies in the stool up to a year after you stop eating gluten. SO...if your body can still produce these antibodies, perhaps they account for the recurring symptoms here and there even though you have cut gluten from your diet. Just a thought...I don't know if this is actually true, but it makes sense.
  20. You don't need 2 genes to have it. I was told that having the gene means you have a "predisposition" to it, and that it would be better to not eat gluten. Remember that there is a segment of those with celiac who have what is called "silent celiac" disease. They have no observable symptoms but intestinal damage is still occurring.
  21. Kari....While a doctor goes to medical school and learns a little about a lot of things, no doctor knows about ALL things. Therefore, be wary of any doctor who tells you you do not have celiac despite having the antibodies. Do lots of your own research....for about $30 you can get 3 very good books on celiac from Amazon: Dangerous Grains, Against the Grain...

In terms of being in a work environment where there is a lot of exposure to flour, I believe it was the book Dangerous Grains that mentioned the very high incidence of celiac in industries such as flour milling etc. where the workers were continually breathing a lot of flour dust. There was a definite connection.
  23. Dianna....what is your situation with dairy? I firmly believe my breathing/asthma symptoms are also connected to dairy as well, not just gluten. I think either one contributes to it, but individually they also can cause it as well.
