ARCHIVED Alterna Hair Products
TinkerbellSwt replied to MistressIsis's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
My hair is naturally curly, saying its extremely curly is an understatement. I use Ouidad products right now. They are super expensive. I want to try the caviar as Carla recommended, but I am afraid to. I dont want to spend money that I dont have and find out I dont like the product. I will try them after my Ouidad runs out.. as they have wheat proteins... -
ARCHIVED Kinnikinnick
TinkerbellSwt replied to debmidge's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I use those from the mix bread that I make from home. I also use the ends of GFP Favorite Sandwich Bread. I add a bit of salt, italian seasoning, and some fresh grated parm cheese. Everybody loves this. Even my extended family when I made chicken parm with them. -

ARCHIVED I Need Help With Menu Selection
TinkerbellSwt replied to breann6's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
wow reading that makes me hungry.. LOL.. I personally would call and talk to the chef about different choices. A lot of chefs will make stuff gluten free for you that might not normally be. It doesnt hurt to ask. You just need to explain in depth how to make things gluten free and be safe about it. I hope that helps.. good luck -
ARCHIVED How Is Disney For Those With Multiple Intolerances ?
TinkerbellSwt replied to Susan Kelby's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Disney accomodates all allergies. You might not have the vast choice as just a gluten allergy, but I know they can accomodate all in some way. Enjoy your trip -

TinkerbellSwt replied to pinkpei77's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
Everybody Eats makes one premade too. My mother ordered it from a store that carries Everybody Eats products around here. I would really rather her make her usual stuffing for me just using gluten free bread.. but I think she is convinced this stuffing will be good. It may very well be.. I just want moms stuffing.. phooey! -

Andrea I am so sorry to hear of your dads illness. I dont have any words of wisdom to pass on to you about how to prepare your kids. I wouldnt know how to prepare myself, with kids it must be harder. I think your honesty with them will help along. I am sure others will post here with some information. You and your family are in my thoughts... -

Thank you... we rent it out when we arent there. It is so central to all of Disney. We shopped the Publix like I said.. but I didnt find too much gluten free, except the obvious fresh meat, fruit and veggies. The produce section was rather limited too.. I would recommend trying the Walmart if you can and find the time with all you are doing there. Have...

For a mild glutening.. it will occur within 20 minutes of digesting the gluten.. I get horrible gas bubbles in my stomach.. almost like a rumble. I will eventually pass the gas, but in the mean time it hurts. Its not a terrible pain.. but it hurts. I also get irritable.. I pick a fight with everyone! I feel bad later.. but at the time I cant seem to...

ARCHIVED Ice Cream
TinkerbellSwt replied to a topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I also find most regular ice creams are gluten free. Except the obvious, cakey, cookie dough, brownie filled. I usually have in the house for my fiance (he is an ice cream fiend!) Turkey Hill brand or Edys.. which is Dreyers east of the Rockies. -
I finally got in touch with someone from seashoreceliacs.. and I am going to their gluten free dinner at a Portugese restaurant on Sunday. I am so excited, this is the first time I have ever ventured out with other celiacs. I was always too chicken to go to the meetings. (phobia of mine) My fiance is coming too, even though he isnt a celiac, he eats...

ARCHIVED 123 Gluten Free Mixes
TinkerbellSwt replied to floridanative's topic in Gluten-Free Recipes & Cooking Tips
I didnt try the 123 poundcake. I think my brand was Cause your Special. I didnt like it, the inside wasnt a good consistency. The taste was weird too. It was sweet, maybe some like it. I might have been expecting something different. -
ARCHIVED Another Disney Succuess
TinkerbellSwt replied to dionnek's topic in Traveling with Celiac Disease
Glad to hear that you had a positive response. Disney is wonderful. I did ask if I could move into the park and have them just prepare my meals everyday! My parents bought a vacation house down there.. so we are free to go whenever we want. Unless its being rented. We rent it out when we are not there. We will be going again within the next year... -
ARCHIVED Epicure
TinkerbellSwt replied to TinkerbellSwt's topic in Gluten-Free Foods, Products, Shopping & Medications
I finally found the answer to my own question mamaw.. the gluten free dinner is in Perth Amboy at a Portugese Restaurant. The RSVP was November 3. I wrote an email to the lady running it asking if it was way too late to stick two more people in.. the worst she can say is no. Its a benefit to help kids in celiac camp during the summers. I hope I can...
