  1. Yep, cornstarch! And why not make stuffing - just use gluten-free bread or cornbread... yum!
  2. Personally, I can't eat beans twice in two days. You know what they say "bean beans.... the magic fruit, the more you eat...."
  3. There's also a new(er) product out called Digestive Advantage (I think, sorry!) but it's in with the lactaid pills at the pharmacy. It's a pill you take once a day, every day then you don't have to worry about having a pill with you when ever you need one. And just an FYI; I couldn't eat dairy for almost a year. Even just a little yogurt or milk...
  4. It would say wheat if it was made with (or may contain) wheat. Soy is one of the big allergies they have to list now in the ingredient list.
  5. I like the Knickiknick pizza crusts, but I LOVE Whole Foods gluten-free pizza crusts in the frozen section.
  6. Sea World was fantastic, I really enoyed it - esp. since I knew I had a great, safe meal!! I will warn you though, if you sit in the Shamu Spalsh Zone do NOT wear a white t-shirt
  7. My friends son has a severe nut allergy, they go there to eat often as they positively bend over backward to make sure he has a good, safe meal!
  8. I'd follow the crust recipie. At worst, the crust is crispy. If you don't bake it, the moisture from the pie filling could make the crust soggy and who wants that? I also LOVE the GFP crust, yummy!
  9. That's so great!! ENJOY!!!!!!!!
  10. My mother makes merangue (spelled wrong, sorry!) cookies. They are pretty much just egg white, sugar, vanilla and cream of tarter. Sometimes she puts chocolate chips in too. I think I saw the recipie posted a while ago called Forgotten Cookies - you leave them in the oven overnight to cook. You could also decorate with colored sprinkles for a more festive...
  11. We went to Sea World (which was a great day!) and they totally bent over backwards to accomdate me - the manager even offered to cook my food on a sperate grill!
  12. I use Metagenics Ultra Dophilus DF - dairy free, gluten free, corn free, soy free...
  13. I'm not sure if Tums is gluten-free. I use Rolaids (NOT soft chews!!) or Pepcid AC.
  14. My daughter is 9. I do make her sandwiches and bagels on regular bread; but other then that she eats gluten-free. IF she has a friend over I will make them mac n cheese or Chef Boy-R-Dee as a treat. That being said, it really is just the two of us so it's pretty simple to handle over here. But even when Prince Charming shows up, he'll still eat gluten...
  15. My treat before going gluten-free was McD's biscuit and a cappacino. Obviously the biscuit is out, but is the cappacino ok? I checked the web site and called the main number, but they only have regular coffee listed.
  16. Ditto the Lexapro! I've had very good luck with it and one of the pleasant side effects for me is that it's really helped to control my stressed induced IBS! I did work with a therapist when I started taking it, that helped me a lot too. I'd recommend doing both.
  17. I stock up on nut butters, it's literally half the price then at my grocery store! The Sharon's sorbet is great (I love the lemon, but raspberry and coconut are good too). Nuts and dried fruit, soy or almond milk and wine is very cheap there. Frozen veggies are good quality and great price. Mine does carry some cereal and cereal bars, but a very small...
  18. I'm jealous - a weekend scrapbooking, sounds like heaven If you're near Livonia, check out Giulios (www.giulios.us) the past and breadsticks are fantastic! They totally understand and go out of their way to make sure you have a good meal. I will say it's a little slow, but if you go planning to have a nice relaxing dinner you will definitely enjoy...
  19. The metallic taste is probably due to the meds. Whatever she can do to tough it out will be worth it for her. Not sure if mints or lifesavers would help? Might also help with the quitting smoking too. Gum? And good for her!! I smoked for 13 years and only quit because I got pregnant... it was the only thing that made me throw up...not hard to quit when...
  20. I buy the majority of my food at main stream groceries. Meats and veggies of course. I don't eat cereal (never cared for it) so that's not a problem. I buy corn tortillas, taco shells and Tostido's and make tacos or nachos. Eggs, bacon and Alexia hashbrowns, yum. I do go to Trader Joe's once every 4 - 6 weeks, but mostly to stock up on cashew or almond...
  21. ENJOY!!
  22. You can buy "graham" crumbs from Knickiknick.com
  23. It was disappointing. She was cooking w/ Martha and said she has a gluten allergy. Martha said "oh, you can't have flour". She said yes and made a face. That was it! How about "I can have other flours" and maybe even get her to make something special?
  24. I just watched an episode of "Try My Life" - a reality TV show where you trade your life (i.e. spouses, sisters, etc.) for a few days. This episode the husband took over and was doing the "mommy" things. One of them was hosting a play date. The wife's best friend came over to help him and really drilled into him about checking for allergies. "Did you...
  25. I've ordered "graham" cracker crumbs off the Knickiknick web site, they were pretty good.
