  1. I love Pamela's and don't seem to have any reactions.
  2. Imagine my surprise when the morning news did their usual "taste test Thursday" segment and they mentioned a bakery that offers a lot of gluten-free foods!! And boy, did they look tasty.... time for a road trip!! Open Original Shared Link
  3. Grilled cheese! Soup! Pancakes!!
  4. I really think the elimination diet is your best bet. Blood tests aren't foolproof, are expensive and I think the only 100% way to tell is the diet.
  5. I don't know that I"d trust an herbal supplement for such an important decision!! If you can't tolerate the pill, what about NuvaRing, and IUD or other device?
  6. Well, that's true - but it is darn tasty and you might be able to substitue something? Keep in mind, it makes 3 crusts... so that's only 3 per crust. And are you going to eat the whole thing? So, then that's only 1 or 2 tbs... yes, I can rationalize with the best of them :-)
  7. It's just loud and expensive. If you're at Universal Orlando you MUST go to Margaritaville. The executive chef emailed me back personally, gave me his personal cell phone number, created a meal just for me. He also told me of a guest who came once who was so sensitive they had to saran wrap the entire table and chair!! Now *that* is customer service!...
  8. My dr. will tell you that IBS does exist, but it should be a "stress = stomach reaction" and NOT an every day occurance! When I went to him with almost identical symptoms you have, he said that most times chronic D is caused by a food intolerence. And I think he was right, it was very hard to go gluten-free at first but now I feel just so much better. ...
  9. I totally understand. We recently went on a family vacation which really went pretty well. Most days we went to places where I could get some great food. It was on the last day they went to an Irish pub (gee, thanks), ordered onion rings, passed the soda bread, had huge lunches, then went to a French bakery. Then at dinner they didn't want to go out,...
  10. Yep, been there and done that. I was freaking out so bad about what I'd ate, I found myself not eating. The anxiety, for me, got so bad that I went to the doctor and was put on an anti-depressent which has really helped a lot. It's also helped any "IBS" issues I'd have, normally the minute I'm stressed out my stomach is off and running. I don't know...
  11. For a long time I had troulbe, and sometimes still do, if I've had a high fat content food. Chips, bacon. etc. Fortunately I can say "see, it's just from your lunch" and don't freak out that I'm "sick" again.
  12. It's a mix, and it makes two or three crusts. Also can be used for a lot of other things like cookies. Johnsonio- just use the Progresso Creamy Mushroom soup.
  13. My daughter will tell you I make two "famous" dishes. One is simlar to Momma Goose's: Heat oil oil in pan and add chopped garlic and ginger (I don't measure either, sorry!), when that's nice and golden brown stir in 1/2 c soy sauce and 1/2 c brown sugar, add hot pepper flakes if you like. Stir and let cool a bit. Marinate a flank steak overnight,...
  14. The crust is easy! Get the Gluten Free Pantry crust..... it is so yummy!! Even my non-celiac family agrees it's the best!
  15. When I first went gluten free (and dairy free!) it seems we ate nothing but roasted turkey/chicken, rice, potatoes.... I eat dairy now, which has opened up a lot more things for me - but I've also put on 20 lbs from the 50+ that I'd lost I finally set a goal to try out one new recipie a week, sometimes they were hits and sometimes not. I spent some...
  16. And talked to your dr. about depression? Even if you don't seem depressed... there's obviously something else going on.
  17. Could he pick out those multi-pack boxes of cereals, that way he could have a different one every day. My 9 yr old DD loves bagels with peanut butter for a before school breakfast, keeps her full all morning. You could also buy some gluten-free cereals to make the apple crisps, or make him a fruit and yogurt parfait with granola or gluten-free granola on...
  18. when I started anti-depressents last year, they started me on Paxil too. I could tell the first day something was wrong, but the third or fourth day I was a wreck (which is saying a lot since I was in bad shape when I started them ) . I called my dr and said I'd rather feel like how I felt before then feel this way - that's when we knew Paxil was not...
  19. At first I avoided it, now I don't and either I've been incredibly lucky or I'm not that sensitive. If you don't feel comfortable eating it - check the expiration date and if it's far away just set it aside for now. Another option would be to donate it to a food bank - at least you'll get a warm fuzzy out of it.
  20. I wrote to Chapstick at one point and they said it was gluten-free.
  21. I take a generic for Xanax called alprazolam made by Mylan. I just called them and they tell me that they put no gluten in ANY drugs they make. I did get the typical CYA about the ingredients they get from others, but they do not use it as a binder. They only use corn or potato products. So, sounds simple to me... get the generic made by Myland, save...
  22. 8 hours... 43 minutes... but who's counting???
  23. I am SO excited! My family is planning a trip to Universal Studios - Orlando and I emailed a few places asking about gluten-free menus. Executive Chef Dan Murray from Margaritaville emailed me asking what I could eat and that he would actually create a safe meal just for me! Fortunately I can have almost everything else so it really wasn't too hard......
  24. I also use a product in my dishwasher called Glass Magic, you sprinkle it in the d/w bottom and wash as normal. Works great!
