  1. The GFP mix is awesome!! I think it's better then my mother's regular crust... shh... don't tell her that
  2. Lisa, I think this does sound like Lexapro withdrawal. Did you talk w/ your dr. about how you should wean yourself off?
  3. I was at Target and went to buy my vitamins. Noticing the Target brand was more then half as expensive, I grabbed the box then had my lightbulb moment and read the ingrediants. Sure enough, the last item is "gluten". It did not say wheat or any other ingredient, just gluten. I put them down and bought the Brand Name. I've emailed them, but haven't...
  4. When I first went gluten-free I was so hungry all the time! My dietician recommended a small serving of nuts with every meal. Apparently the fats in the nuts help your food stick around a little longer and not digest as fast. I also made sure to carry snack bars (like Lara or Cliff Nectar) around with me. It gets better!
  5. As my dr. once asked me when trying to describe my D "is your a$$ like a fountain"
  6. FSA is a Flexible Spending Account that a lot of employers offer. They take money out of your paycheck (before tax) and set it aside. You have to submit receipts for things - each FSA is different so check the details of your own plan. My FSA lets me get reimbursed for contacts, OTC products, script co-pays, dr. co-pays, etc. Haven't checked on food yet...
  7. My friend is a CPA and she says that while technically you could try this, she can't imagine sending a bigger welcoming to the IRS to audit your taxes!! She also recommended the FSA. While shopping one day in the gluten-free freezer section, I met a woman who was writing everything down "brownies - $4, seves 6" etc. I asked her and sure enough she kept...
  8. I also make sure my room is completely dark. I sleep with a fan on for white noise. My favorite trick is to block the clock with a box of Kleenex, that way I don't keep staring at it thinking "OMG - it's 3:00... 3:02...". I did take a relaxation class and we did some great breathing techniques - when I can't sleep I will just focusing on breathing in....
  9. While I was getting my gluten intolerence dx, I asked about IBS. He said that IBS "should" be that you're all tensed up, your stomach/GI reacts, and it's over - it should NOT be chronic. I will say that after starting my anti-depressant my "IBS" as really cleared up!! I read in an article that it's presribed for IBS, and I can see why. Be sure to keep...
  10. Mine feels like that, but comes out the other end
  11. This is the acidophulus (sp) that I take, it is recommended by my homeopathic MD. I take it twice a day, mixed into water. I usually have a glass in the morning (empty stomach) and one at dinner. I figure that way the little guys are getting in either way!! It does not indicate on the bottle if you should take it with or without food. It is Dairy free...
  12. B's been under stress??? Seriously, it can take it's toll and with the accidental glutenings, it's probably all adding up. What about candida? Are you taking a live culture? I would give it a couple days on the BRAT diet and if you're still not doing better it might be worth calling your doctor. Feel better!!
  13. Rolaids are gluten-free but NOT the soft chews! I also take Pepcid AC and that's safe too.
  14. My anxiety went through the roof about 3 months after being gluten-free. I was SO worried about everything that I ate. I was also not going out, doing things, seeing friends, etc. cause it was just easier (and less worries) to stay home. Finally I realized I was turning into crazy cat lady and was not happy. My dr. prescribed Lexapro and I feel so good...
  15. I buy my bacon from Market Day (www.marketday.com). It's kind of like Schwan's or GFS, but is also a fundraisor for schools and churches!! I buy a lot of there - the frozen veggies are the best. But the best thing is that every item has little symbols and there's even a wheat free one so you know if it's safe! The bacon is precooked and frozen, just...
  16. I'd like to, but probably not. Wish they did it on a weekend!!
  17. I just read in the Detroit Free Press yesterday that Giulio's Cucina Italiana in Livonia is having a totally gluten free night featuring a 5 course meal for $23 on August 7. Not sure if it's on their web site or not. I have ate there and it was very good, I will be going back for sure! Their website is www.giulios.us
  18. On Oprah's site she has a "want to be on the show" page, and one of the topics is about how you've lost weight. If you've lost weight thanks to the gluten free diet - tell her! Maybe if enough of us tell her our weight loss stories we can be on the show Open Original Shared Link
  19. There's a great article in my Sunday paper USA Weekend Magazine - check it out! Open Original Shared Link
  20. I went to my dr. complaining of constant D, massive abdominal pain (like swallowing glass) and always feeling sick. The first thing out of his mouth was "it's probably a food intolerence - cut out gluten and dairy and come back in six weeks". I'm all NOOOOOOOOOOOO... take my gallbladder, or something... I mean, gosh, no dairy He did run bloods tests...
  21. I've been so proud of mine the past few weeks. Haven't been this regular in years, and what beauties they are! And, oh God, Did I really say that out loud???
  22. I *love* the almond milk!
  23. I take baby red skin potatoes, drizzle w/ olive oil and sprinkle on kosher or sea salt and maybe some dried garlic (I like Garlic Garlic by Tastefully Simple). I think we can have Lipton Onion Soup mix, right??? I used to take 1/4 cup of oil, mix in 1 soup packet in a large plastic zipped bag... put in some quartered potatoes or baby reds and mix it all...
  24. You've been known to grab things out of people hands to read the labels
