  1. Enjoy your time with those grandkids!!
  2. I have toast with peanut butter or cashew butter almost every day. Yum!
  3. I grabbed some new Altoids on my way out of the grocery store last night, only to be bummed when I got home and realized they contained wheat maltodextrin They are the "smalls" and sugarfree. Just thought some people should know
  4. And right before the holidays they had everything on sale plus a $10 coupon!! I ended up getting things for about 1/3 of what I'd pay in the store. (Of course, now i have three *cases* of cookies laying around...)
  5. Dried fruit packs a big fiber punch too!
  6. We play a fun game at every shower (baby or bridal), for the baby shower go down the baby aisle at your store. Pick up some small items (pacificer, outlet plugs, nail clippers, boo-boo packs, etc. anythingyou like). Put each item in a paper bag and number each bag. Give everyone a piece of paper and a pen and have them number the page from 1 - 10 (or how...
  7. Actually I just posted in the past week or two what a nice response I'd had from Chili's and their gluten-free menu.... here's the link Open Original Shared Link
  8. I get my bread from knickiknick (I always spell that wrong!) or Celaic Specalites. Both also have great donuts, cinn. rolls, etc.

  11. Sending out good thoughts!!
  12. As much as I love it, I don't eat it anymore I usually only ever got it when I was out as a treat, so now I wouldn't want to have to ask the restaraunt what kind of blue cheese they have. (FYI I just got a nice email from Chili's and they say to not eat their blue cheese). I will say that Blue Cheese was the first food I noticed a direct reaction to...

  15. I usually have Knicniknick or Celiac Specialties, and yes I toast *everything*.
  16. Tinkyada is the best!! I honestly think if I made a pasta dish with it and had a side by side taste test with "regular" pasta you wouldn't be able to tell the difference!! I can get it at my local grocery store (not all their varieties, but a lot of them) and you can also order them on line from almost any gluten-free grocery web site.
  17. I've been gluten-free for a year and a half now. I've noticed my 9 yr old daughter is starting to have similar issues that I had before going gluten-free. She has a lot of bathroom visits that are loose, pains in her stomach - she says it's like someone hitting it over and over and her stomach is tender (she'll only wear sweat pants now, no jeans). ...
  18. If they can't tell you what's in or not in their recipe, I would never eat there. You're not asking for the "secret sauce" you want to make sure you're not going to have a serious health issue!
  19. Has anyone been recently? Any food advice? Thanks!
  20. Recently someone used a gluten is like raw chicken analogy... if someone had put raw chicken on top of your sandwhich, would you still just pick it off and eat the sandwich??? I know I wouldn't!
  21. This place has great chocolate, is made virtually allergen free (soy, corn, etc.) and is also Kosher. Open Original Shared Link
  22. I have a great cookbook called "Cooking Free" and it lists all sorts of recipes without eggs, corn, soy, sugar, nuts, etc. Open Original Shared Link .com/Cooking-Free-200Flav...TF8&s=books
  23. I don't know if you qualify for any assistance, but see what's available from your local food bank. I'm sure they have peanut butter, cheese and possibly some soups that are gluten-free. I'm a single mom too, I buy meat in bulk when it's on sale. I make big batches (lasagna, etc.) for leftover lunches and "frozen dinners". I do buy the Tinyada pasta...
