Lynne, I live near Parkersburg - right along the Ohio River. It is pretty here (but not right now - it is ugly this time of year unless there is snow). Where do your in-laws live? -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?

I think our first step is to report this issue to the FDA. They are the ones regulating the new food labeling laws. Here is the link for the #s to call for each region. Apparently you can't log a complaint online (or at least I couldnt' find that this can be done). Open Original Shared Link I wonder if this isn't just a CYA - one of our fears of... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
teebs in WV replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
According to Mcdonald's website last night, the bacon contains wheat.....unless that was a misprint too. I know that all companies, just like all people, make mistakes. The true test will be how they recover from this. (And I do not work for McDs) -
I'm gonna buy me one of them there de-glutenizing deep fryers, drink a big jug of water, and I'm gonna beat this thing! You've got to be kidding me......this is the strangest day. I think they are coming out of the woodwork!

ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
teebs in WV replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Check out this link - I googled "gluten in mcdonalds fries" and this is one of the things that came up (not sure how old this article is). Maybe we should go to this reporter with this since her article specifically mentions McDonald's fries being gluten-free? Open Original Shared Link -
I posted this link the other day. Not only do they have their stats wrong, the article also states that it can be treated with steroids, etc., and that a 'simple' blood test can diagnose the disease. Well, someone got your letter! Take a look at the article now - they have added the 'misinformation' comment! Way to go!

Boy - wouldn't you love to be the lucky SOB that got the patent for the "de-glutening deep fryer"? -
ARCHIVED Corn Tortillas

What brand? I have been buying Aztec I think, but then I saw on here somewhere that Mission has a dedicated line so I bought them - they are even labeled gluten-free. But, I don't like them!! I was so bummed when I tasted them - I don't like the texture or the taste. Maybe I'll give these white ones a try - once you tell me the brand. -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?

You know, this is what scares me about us relying on 'safe' food lists. I know alot of people on here rely on the gluten-free bible, and the delphi list, but when companies can change ingredients any time they wish without no prior notice, I don't think that we should rely on these lists 100%. I know it is a pain to read every stinking label before you... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?

I was just going through that entire list and I see that the bacon is listed as containing wheat........I don't know about anything else that is different. -
Where on this forum did you see the claims made by this doctor?

Wow! I think this is the fastest moving thread that I've seen! We are at 3 pages in one hour - I think this may beat the "doctor bashing" thread! -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
teebs in WV replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
I have on my computer screen a McDonalds gluten-free menu and at the bottom it is dated 2-3-06. On this list of 'safe' foods is french fries. If I look at the ingredients screen, french fries are clearly labeled as containing wheat ingredients. I have sent an e-mail to McDonalds asking for clarification and asking for their website to be corrected - one... -
ARCHIVED Health Valley Rice Bran Crackers

I used these yesterday to make a pie crust (graham-cracker type). I'm in a cranky mood and these companies are really starting to tick me off! -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
teebs in WV replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
This is driving me crazy - even when I go through the link posted here - it is still taking me to info dated 9/28/05. I give - I will just take your word for it. -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
teebs in WV replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
Vincent, I swear to you that when I first went to the McDonald's gluten-free list it had a date of 2/6/06. After I posted the link here, went back to my McDonald's page, it was showing the 9/28/05 date! What the heck is going on? I did what you suggested - deleted my internet files and refreshed. Now I keep getting the 9/28/05 stuff. Any ideas? ... -
ARCHIVED Mcdonald's French Fries Not Safe?
teebs in WV replied to pixiegirl's topic in Gluten-Free Restaurants
This is unbelievable! I have pasted the link to their gluten free menu (for the US) and french fries are clearly not on there! But hash browns are - and wouldn't you assume that the hash browns are fried in the same frier as the fries?????? UGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHH Open Original Shared Link Thank you for posting this - I still cannot believe it... -

Vincent, There is nothing wrong with all courses of your meal being from the chocolate family! I have one question.......you DID wash it down with chocolate milk, didn't you? -
Bob, I am about 40 minutes from OU. My fiance's daughter is planning on going there next year. I was diagnosed in November, so I am still adjusting to all of this. The good news is that I think it is getting easier, and my bloodwork already is showing improvement. Everyone else - this is great that there are so many of us! (I am a former buckeye...

Who knows? It could be. I have had skin issues off and on for years. Until my DH outbreak I didn't have a clue what was wrong. I didn't have any acne issues until my thirties, which I think is more common than what most people believe. I've been gluten-free for 3 months now and I am still itching like crazy. I have asked this question before on this...

ARCHIVED Is Anyone Else Completely Sick Of Having To Pack A Lunch Everyday?
teebs in WV replied to frenchiemama's topic in Coping with Celiac Disease
Last Friday we had a 'women's network' lunch at work. A few of the women that I work with know about my dietary restrictions, but most people don't. They had pizza, salad, and fruit salad for lunch. I didn't even bother checking to see what was on the menu since I am not yet very comfortable eating anything that doesn't come from my kitchen, so I brought... -
ARCHIVED Need Info (again)

My skin biopsy was done on my arm and it took several weeks to heal. They took a fairly deep section of skin about the size of a pencil eraser. It was painless. I am not sure if this is a typical biopsy size. I really wouldn't like to have it done on my face - it left a pretty good scar. But if that was the only place that I had breakouts and I wanted... -
I just got the below link from google alerts. I can't figure out the source of the article. I think we need to bombard this publication with letters. There are errors that are ridiculous, such as: "in the US is 1 in 250" "a simple blood test can determine if you have Celiac Disease" (oh, if it were ALWAYS a simple blood test!) "there is another...

ARCHIVED Jell-o Instant Pudding

Kraft in the US will clearly list if a product contains wheat, barley, rye, or oats. If the Kraft label states modified food starch, and you are in the US, then the modified food starch was a derivative of another grain (such as corn). Kraft is one of the products that I trust. Take a look a their website - it has a very informative section explaining...
